An exquisite, unique hotel

An absolutely beautiful hotel with an exceptional staff in a great location. Walking in you can feel what it must have been like to be here in the early 1900's in the center of art nouveau. Just taking a walk thru the hotel before a visit to the rooftop bar as he sun goes down is a magical experience. Breakfast was fantastic (the meringue cookies are amazing). And every member of their team was (and well should be) proud of how good they are; they made a great stay exceptional.

Nice stay here in Genoa.Good points:Lovely decor inside in bar area and reception. Room had good AC Clean roomFront desk helpful & let us store our luggage Is right next to the train station and metro so easily accessible. Areas which could be better: Breakfast - hot food options were limited and cold. Staff weren’t too keen to top up the hot food that had run out half an hour before end of breakfast. Swimming pool and spa were at additional charge. Rooms are already quite expensive to have this not included. Overall a nice stay for couple of days. Five star old charm

We stayed in 2 rooms for five nights. Originally we booked NH hotel but since we were travelling by train we discovered it will be a long walk with the luggage which is okay on flat surface but Genova is city centre is not for car traffic and as result, taxi would have costed us 70 euros to get there which was totally unreasonable. So on a day we switched to Savoia which is 90 meters from the train station, is five stars and it was not that much more expensive for the convenience it gave us. Please note on the other hand it is 20 min brisk walk to the Ferrari Square.Check in by Maria was probably the best we ever had. Despite the fact we dropped them the reservation at 11th hour, they considered it carefully: assigned us upgraded rooms with the balconies next to each other! When I expressed my gratitude Maria just said „We don’t create any stress here”. And it was true for the rest of the stay. They did not have great occupancy during the week - we stayed Monday to Saturday check out so they accomodated in an optimal way.Both rooms were spacious with the bathtubs/ rain shower combination. Addition of day bed was a nice touch. I was working from the hotel most days and wifi was mostly adequate. Housekeeping performed dilligently with the same Italian lady coming each day. It felt safe. Hotel has seven floors but is not very big so everything feels personal. My only criticism was that our room did not have proper wardrobe - it was just a rail with no doors and not mounted high enough for trousers and dresses (not ideal for five nights) while my daughter room had two proper antique wardrobes.Although rooms were overlooking busy road and train station, you could use external electric rolling shutters to block the light and noise which was a great feature.Aircon worked well, although water started dripping from it on the checkout day.I enjoyed working from the oppulent lobby when having my coffee. We were also coming for Italian coctails enjoyed by the sound of piano player.As we could not book a train to Milan for earlier than 3 pm - Maria consulted her manager and they extended one of the rooms until a bit later which was a huge help, especially that they have mainly weekend traffic.Overall it is a beautiful hotel and I highly recommend it! Hotel OK. Charged my Hilton debit card twice for the same room. Still trying to get this resolved. Totally un helpful no customer care. . If you have problems at this hotel do not expect to get them resolved in a timely manner. A decent 'grand' old hotel

As the "Grand" in the name suggests, this is an older hotel and so some guests might find it a bit dated. However, it has been well kept up and the public areas on the ground floor are definitely grand. The rooftop terrace bar offers a good view over the city and the port, and has an extensive cocktail menu. The room was comfortable and quiet. Staff were professional and friendly, at reception, in the bar, and for room service. Parking is valet parking only. The location is good for exploring the city on foot: about a 20-minute walk to the Doge's Place or the Porto Antico. The additional fee for my dog was 45 Euros, which is rather more than the norm. The valet parking was I think 35 Euros: also more than the norm, but worth it to avoid having to sort out your own parking somewhere else.An optional service charge is added to the bill: it's not much, and you can decline if you feel strongly about it.
