What a lovely hotel!

As it turned out, because of an issue with our room, we ended up staying in both the Nuvole Residenza and the main hotel - both are really lovely in their different ways. Highlights were the beautiful old restored buildings, lovely rooms in both, the really helpful and friendly staff, efficient cleaners, great breakfasts, central location and good little cafes just outside in the square ... already looking forward to visiting again!

Beautiful Hotel, But Know the Neighborhood

Beautiful renovated palazzo, but the hotel sits deep in Genoa’s historic center, fully surrounded by narrow, dark alleys that can feel uncomfortable at night. Getting there from the parking garage requires walking through these alleys with your luggage, with groups regularly loitering. The staff downplayed this rather than being candid about the surroundings, Do your research on the immediate neighborhood before booking.The rooms and breakfast were also surprisingly austere for the price. The beautiful library/lounge was largely decorative—there were no refreshments or meaningful hospitality offered there.The palazzo itself is charming and the location is central, but the combination of the nighttime surroundings and basic amenities fell short.

A lovely hotel but our room was broken into and riffled through whilst we were out at dinner. Management apologised and gave us a 50% discount on the room rate but I am concerned about their security.

Beautiful building in the heart of Genoa

Stunning building in the heart of Genoa , close to all of the sights and many restaurants and cafes. Really friendly helpful staff.Room was well decorated and clean. We ate at the hotels Bar Gilda one night- Fantastic food (small plates) really good cocktails and a delicious tiramisu! Recommend going to Spianata Castelletto, a terrace offering 360-degree views over the slate roofs, towers, and the port. In Genoa centre there is lots of amazing architecture and Piazza Ferraris fountains are beautiful. Lots of narrow streets to explore There are lots of homeless people and we did take care of our belongings when we were walking the little streets as we were followed on a couple of occasions - would recommend you check directions from the hotel for the area to avoid as this was helpful for us. From Genoa we walked to the train station and caught a train to Camogli and Santa margarita (where we walked the coastal path into portofino) So Genoa is a good base if you want to explore further a field. Historic Genoa Charm

This is an historic building respectfully converted/adapted to be a hotel. It’s in a protected section of Genoa, meaning taxis have to let you out about a block’s walk away. There are also steps involved getting into the hotel itself as well as to the elevator. It’s not really a big deal except that we had some heavy luggage to contend with. The staff were very kind and accommodating, able to communicate very well in English. The rooms were very clean, and done in a sleek, Euro-style minimalist style. We did have a subtle step-down that commanded we pay attention when we walked into our room if we didn’t want to fall. The plaza in front of the hotel is just wonderfully Italian, and set up wth tables during the day/evening to enjoy aperitivo or food available from the adjacent bar. The food there was among the best we had in Italy. The surrounding neighborhood was a bit on the gritty side, but was very safe and never an issue. We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
