    Quite expensive with hidden extras.

    rating26 May 2026

On arrival there was someone there to take all our luggage to our room. The reception area is quite far back when you go inside and quite dark. It didn't appea very welcoming. The room was good with a bottle of water and a chocolate for us. The bathroom had a deep bath. We did find it slippery to get out of so used a towel to help. The shower was good too. Both with Rituals toiletries. The room was cleaned each day. What let the hotel down was the breakfast room. There just wasn't enough space to get breakfast without waiting for someone to move on. The cereals selection was very poor. To get a decent granola it had to be paid for as extra as did other options. The bread was poor quality too. The food on offer freely was mostly processed. It took ages sometimes to get a cup of tea or coffee. The fruit juice wasn't fresh juice. The cake selection was about the best thing there for me.What was convenient is a bakery across the road and a local coop nearby. It was about 30 minuets walk into the centre and there is a bus route near the hotel too. A taxi to the centre is 10 euros and worth it on a hot day.We didn't use the spa either. It is 20 euros to use the facilities. While there our cousin has a theft of gifts that she had bought out of the room. Part of the items were found and others not. A refund was given once the receipt was produced. For the distress the hotel gave a small box of biscuits!I personally wouldn't use this chain of hotels again because of the extra funds that have to be paid for some quality food at breakfast. The city tax is 5 euros each per night. Melia Genova, General Manager at Melia Genova, responded to this review Dear Doreen, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the issues experienced, which do not reflect our standards; your comments will be carefully considered to improve our services. Please note that no items were stolen: they were mistakenly disposed of as they had been placed in bags near the trash. We sincerely apologize for this error, and for this reason we provided a refund for the purchased items and offered a small local gift as a gesture of apology. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.Guest Experience Team

    Overpriced and problematic

    rating07 May 2026

Grossly over priced for what you get. They turn off AC at night. And you have to ask several days in a row to have it turned on again. Unacceptable for 1000 Euro a night. The staff are genuinely nice and want to be helpful. But cannot quite produce results. The property is a well done boutique hotel in an elegant residential neighborhood with great restaurants and all necessities nearby. The suite was beautiful with fabulous terrace. They must upgrade bed linens and towels. Thin and substandard for the prices. Pillows are a disaster. Flat and small. The food is mediocre and breakfast offering paltry. The “gym’ is a joke. In generally, a major disappointment and outrageous price. Save your money and stay elsewhere.I wouldn't recommend this for travelers looking for a true luxury stay.

    rating12 Feb 2026

3-star service at a 5-star price. A total disappointment.I stayed at the Meliá Genova paid more than 300euro/night, I received service worse than many 3-star hotels. The most shocking part was the breakfast, they have menus with prices directly on the breakfast tables. It feels incredibly cheap and commercial. At breakfast, I asked for a freshly squeezed orange juice 'spremuta' and was told the juice in the pitchers was fresh. It was clearly from the tetra boxed juice that you can buy in the supermarket. I didn't say anything more and simply went back to my table. A few minutes later, a staff member brought a fresh juice to my table—I assumed this was a kind gesture because they realized their mistake. Instead, 15 minutes later, another staff member came to demand my room number so they could charge me for a juice I didn't even formally order. It’s not about the money; it’s about the deceptive service. The rest of the breakfast was 3-star quality at best: cold food, dirty serving spoons, frozen/microwaved pancakes, and watery eggs. The room was also poorly maintained with dust and a yellowish, dirty shower. For this price, the staff’s ‘don’t care’ attitude is unacceptable. Avoid this hotel if you value honesty and cleanliness. Melia Genova, Direttore generale at Melia Genova, responded to this review Dear Shermeid,Thank you for choosing Meliá Genova and for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are truly sorry to read that your experience did not meet your expectations and that a misunderstanding during breakfast so negatively influenced your overall perception of your stay. Our breakfast buffet is designed to offer a wide selection of sweet and savoury options, many of which come directly from our kitchen and, whenever possible, from local suppliers. Our aim is to ensure our guests can start the day with variety, freshness, and plenty of energy. As you correctly pointed out, we also offer a range of à la carte dishes for those who wish to enjoy something more indulgent; these items have clearly displayed prices, as per standard procedure. We sincerely regret that there was a verbal misunderstanding between you and our Team regarding the orange juice, and even more so that we did not have the opportunity to discuss the matter with you directly during your stay to provide the most appropriate solution. Our goal is always to satisfy those who choose to stay with us, and we remain open to dialogue and constructive comments, which help us continuously improve the quality of our service.Concerning the issues reported about the room, we have carefully reviewed the situation and did not find evidence of the maintenance concerns described. Nevertheless, we wholeheartedly apologize if you encountered dust, and we have already addressed this with our Housekeeping team to prevent it from happening again. We are sorry that a single misunderstanding had such a significant impact on your overall experience, and we remain at your disposal should you wish to share further details with us. Such a negative perception is something we take seriously, as we work every day to ensure our guests enjoy memorable moments during their stay.We truly hope to have the chance to welcome you back in the future and offer you an improved and more positive experience.Warm regards,Francesca PeterlongoGuest Experience Team

    Comfortable stay

Comfortable stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Bed was comfortable and provided a good night’s rest. The room size was adequate with enough space to move around and store luggage.Housekeeping standards were good throughout the stay. The hotel is located in a quiet area which made it peaceful at night, yet it is conveniently located.
