  Underwhelming at best…

  The most unfriendly hospitality ever, with a few exceptions. That being Fabio always had a smile, the nice lady at the beach lounge, and young lady housekeeper. The rest of the staff couldn’t be more unfriendly and sometimes just rude. The rooms are tiny, but clean. Breakfast is just okay. Coffee service was good at breakfast. It is located a short walk to town but extremely noisy. The beach club is nice as is the beach lounge.

  This hotel is amazingly beautiful with an incredible restaurant, free breakfast buffet, awesome spa, and has a seaside location with amazing views from the rooms. We return every year and the wonderful Hotel Metropole management always books a very-special sentimental room for us! The entire staff at Hotel Metropole makes our hotel stay experience such an amazing memory and we'll continue to return every year! Grazie mille Hotel Metropole!

  Lovely hotel

  We have been at hotel Metropole for 7 nights and cannot speak highly enough of the hotel . The location is perfect , 5 minutes from the train which is great as we did day trips to Camogli , Rapello and Sestri Lavente . It’s an easy 10 minute walk to the town centre and the ferry to Portofino . The grounds are lovely , the staff are very welcoming and the suite we had is very nice with good views over the bay. Our room was perfectly quiet even though the road can be busy behind . Our only suggestion would be for some variety at the breakfast buffet . After 7 days it would be great to have even a few small changes .

  We would not recommend the Metropole Hotel in Santa Margherita Ligure.Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. In all the years we have travelled and stayed at hotels with our family, we have rarely encountered such poor and unfriendly service.The staff were unhelpful, and at times their attitude towards us felt disrespectful and discriminatory. We had the impression that they were not accustomed to hosting international guests and did not make any effort to provide the level of hospitality one would normally expect from a hotel in such a beautiful destination.After a long journey, we simply asked for some water or coffee upon arrival. Instead of offering us anything, we were told to go and buy it ourselves at the bar. This was just one of several unpleasant experiences during our stay.Unfortunately, the overall attitude of the staff made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.If you value respectful, warm and professional hospitality, we would not recommend staying at this hotel. giovanni ciana, Owner at Hotel Metropole, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback.We note that proactively offering water or beverages at check-in is a courtesy found in some hotels, though by no means a universal standard across the industry.   Have stayed at this hotel severl times. Staff remembered us which was nice. Had same room which has no seaview but large terrace which is noisy during day due to traffic but double glazing means room is quiet. Swimming pool was warm. Great private beach with deck chairs or sun beds. Hotel restaurant excellent as was lunch in cafe. Front desk very helpful when we enquired about trains going to Nice.
