    Poor service and dirty beach

    rating19 Aug 2026

I have been traveling for almost 30 years. I am 47 years old now, and I started traveling when I was 18. During those years, I have stayed in all kinds of hotels—from five-star properties to two-star hotels and even places with no official star rating at all.I understand perfectly well that when you pay very little for a hotel, you cannot expect exceptional customer service. Sometimes you simply need a clean bed where you can sleep for one night, and that is enough. That is completely understandable. However, when you pay $500 per night for a hotel that presents itself as a high-end property, your expectations are completely different. You expect not only clean rooms and basic amenities, but also professional, attentive, and respectful customer service. That is precisely what the star rating is supposed to represent.Unfortunately, based on my experience, I could not give this hotel even one star for its level of service. The beach was extremely dirty and covered with algae. I find it completely unacceptable that a hotel charging $500 per night is not even taking basic steps to maintain its beach so that guests can actually enjoy the sea. The entire purpose of staying at a seaside resort is to be able to use and enjoy the beach and the water. The hotel also appeared to be only partially occupied, even though it was high season. There were clearly plenty of available spaces, which made the restrictions imposed on guests even more difficult to understand. One of the few positive aspects of our stay was the breakfast. Unfortunately, that was about the only positive experience we had.The staff’s attitude was extremely disappointing. We were treated as though we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests. Staff members were rude and unhelpful, and there seemed to be no interest in actually resolving a guest’s concerns.Guests were not allowed to simply choose where they wanted to sit on the beach. We were told that we had to wait for a specific time and then be assigned particular chairs. This would already be unpleasant under normal circumstances, but it was especially unreasonable when there were plenty of empty chairs and the beach was clearly not crowded. What made the situation even worse was how my complaint was handled. When I spoke to the supervisor, instead of listening to my concerns or trying to find a reasonable solution, he essentially blamed me. He told me that it was my fault because I had not read the hotel’s website carefully enough, where apparently it stated that some beach chairs might be reserved. This is not an acceptable way to treat a paying guest. If a hotel has an important restriction regarding access to one of its primary amenities—especially something as significant as beach seating—that information should be clearly communicated to guests during the booking and check-in process. It should not be the guest’s responsibility to search through a website and discover hidden or easily overlooked restrictions after arriving. The responsibility to properly inform and assist guests belongs to the hotel.I have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years, and I have never experienced such an unpleasant combination of poor communication, rigid rules, unhelpful staff, and an unwillingness to take responsibility for the guest experience. The issue is not that I expected perfection. I understand that things can go wrong. The issue is that when something goes wrong, I expect the hotel staff to listen, acknowledge the problem, and make a reasonable effort to help.Unfortunately, that did not happen here. For a hotel charging a half of thousand per night, I expected a completely different standard of service. The experience was deeply disappointing and, in my opinion, completely inconsistent with the level of hospitality that guests should reasonably expect from a high-end hotel.

Gross misrepresentation of a 4* hotel! Terrible!

    rating23 Oct 2023

This hotel totally misrepresents what is on its website. The Spa is open for a few days of the week only. They had no cycles for children. The food was terrible, highly understaffed. We departed after one night, the receptionist v rude! Avoid!

    Seaside Lounging and Biking

    rating10 Jul 2023

We stayed 3 nights at this seaside hotel as part of a VBT bike tour vacation. We loved all the bike decor throughout the property and our room (111) was very comfortable, with a large terrace right on the beach. It was a short walk to the restaurants/shops in town and access to the bike/walk path that goes to San Remo and beyond. The bathroom was quite large, but the shower was a little tight, especially for my husband. We had dedicated loungers on the beach, which offers a sandy entrance to the sea.The breakfast buffet filled us up every morning, and we liked being able to order cocktails and glasses/bottles of wine from the small stand-up bar in the lobby. We also had a catered dinner in the restaurant, which was just OK from a food standpoint and a little disappointing from a service standpoint. In all, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would consider returning in the future. We are pleased that you have spent a pleasant and relaxing holiday in our hotel and that you have enjoyed all our services and the work of our staff, always ready to meet all the needs of our guests. Service has gone down - stay away

    rating08 Oct 2022

I was at this hotel with the family last year and it was good so we recommended it friends. They were at the hotel this year and said that the service is no longer as it used to be and I can only confirm this now.We planned to come again this year and had a reservation with the hotel for October. Due to the bad reports of our friends we cancelled via e-mail about four months ago. Now, the hotel charged my credit card although I cancelled by e-mail. They say they can‘t find the e-mail with my cancellation. So it is up to me to prove everything as they don‘t read their inbox.Stay away and don‘t give them your credit card. Hotel Riviera dei Fiori, Altro at Hotel Riviera dei Fiori, responded to this review Dear sir,We are sorry for the incident and we are very sorry that although you had a good time during your last stay, you chose not to return.Unfortunately, as I have already privately specified, your e-mail has never reached us. We have done extensive research but even now we do not know that we have ever received it.You certainly never received confirmation from us of the cancellation. Furthermore, the reservation was made by you directly from our website, from which you can cancel or modify it in total autonomy. We hope we have clarified your doubts and in your understanding.

    Very cute bike decor

    rating19 Sept 2022

Bike friendly hotel right on the beach. Our room looked out over the water, and we experienced 2 very lovely sunrises over the Sea. Ate dinner at the restaurant and were quite pleased with the food. Lots of seafood, presumably fished straight out from our location. Decor in the lobby is bicycle oriented, and there were biking prints on our room walls as well. Staff was helpful in arranging meals for us. Breakfast at the hotel was bountiful and delicious. You can take a day at the beach, with chaises and umbrella provided by hotel. There is a nice bike/paved path that runs along the water for many kilometers. Matteo Mareri, Altro at Hotel Riviera dei Fiori, responded to this review Thank you for the excellent review! We are pleased that you had a pleasant holiday at our hotel and enjoyed all our services. We hope to see you again soon as our welcome guests Best regards
