Discrimination against non Italian holiday makers!☹️

    rating12 Sept 2025

Discrimination against non Italian guests!I usually travel economy and was happy when I found this Airbnb on booking.com. The hotel was rustic, no frills, clean and my mattress was very comfortable! But sadly I wasn't offered the option of half/full board, like their Italian guests are!? The staff were hard working, very friendly and accommodating and I was always greeted with a smile from Mayra and Maryella at reception and Jenny who worked at the bar was happy to make me tea whenever I wanted. She is an amazing young lady. We Brits can't function without our tea and I did suggest that a welcome tray with a kettle etc was provided in our rooms. The hotel had it's own spa where I received an amazing massage and mud wrap for a very reasonable price! I was also treated to a session in the hot tub by the owner for a good review (from the only English person staying). I told him that he was going to get a 5 Star review from me anyway and that I didn't need to be bribed! The hotel was well situated to local shops, beach bus services etc...In the restaurant I was seated with the other Airbnbers in an annexe away from the locals, which I wasn't very unhappy about but on my last day I was allowed to join the other residents. There was a wide selection to choose from at breakfast as well as the lunches, that were freshly cooked with good quality ingredients. Me and my friend had lunch once on my first day and I was puzzled when I asked to pay the bill ...... The steak on the menu was priced 8€, appeared on my receipt as 10€, the cauliflower was another 5€, as was the chips! I queried this with Maryella, who agreed that our steak lunch should have cost us 16€ and not 35€ ......we laughed and my bill was amended. Then there was the coffees, water and the council tax that I was charged an extra day for. I object to being discriminated against !I gave Alexander, who is the owner of the hotel, along with 2 others in Ischia to explain what was happening at his hotel but he avoided me, so I emailed him, explaining my concerns , telling him that not all English holiday makers are rich and don't check Thier bills as I do! I have an invisible disability and am an OAP who has to live within their means. ........I asked if he knew what was happening in his hotel and if he did, then "shame on him!" But if he wasn't aware, then I apologised but was glad to bring it to his attention so as he could address it. ......I got no reply!!I'm not here to maline anyone's character but I'm an open book and honest until the day is long and have to speak my truth but ultimately leave you to judge for yourselves but please be aware👀!I wish all you holiday makers that are planning a trip to Ischia an amazing holiday on an amazing Island that I've named "The poor sister of Capri", where my son got married, amongst the rich and the famous!! Bless you all🙏🤗 Carmine Impagliazzo, Proprietario at Av Club Terme Colella, responded to this review Gentile Ospite,la ringraziamo per aver condiviso in maniera così dettagliata la sua esperienza.

Stay here of you are ok with very hot rooms without AC and the fact that noone speaks English. Also a little sketchy area at night. Chose to take a taxi from town.Friendly staff that did their best and got us a fan. Clean and an ok garden to relax in the shade.

    Good value family hotel

    rating31 Aug 2017

We spent two weeks in the Hotel Colella Terme. We had just decided to go away for a family holiday as the weather in the UK had not been great and wanted to get some some sun and decided on Ischia very last minute. We were a bit worried as we just booked quickly and were on a budget and there are only 2 reviews in English of this hotel and one was not good on Trip advisor. We were very that happy that we chose this hotel. The hotel is particularly popular with Italians from Naples and a few Germans were also staying there but we were the only British staying at the time we visited. The staff are very friendly and polite even though some of them did not speak great English. Even with language barrier we felt very comfortable and included in all the activities the hotel provided. The hotel has a good family atmosphere and charm and we had a real authentic Italian holiday experience. The food was of a good quality and the breakfast was OK.The rooms were also of a good standard but they don’t have air-conditioning. We were fine with the fan supplied in room.We would definitely go back and stay there again.

    Lovely !!

    rating26 Sept 2014

It is a week since we returned from a two week holiday at Hotel Terme Colella and I would really like to be back there! We booked the holiday independently with little idea of what Ischia was like let alone Forio. Having been given crazy prices for airport transfers we contacted the hotel a couple of weeks before travelling who arranged all transfers for us at less than half the price we had originally been given and it all worked perfectly! Thank you Anna Marie, a good start! We realised from reviews that little English was spoken at the hotel or on the island but isn't that half the fun of travelling. The hotel staff were very friendly and with a bit of German, English and Italian we got on pretty well. Our room was in the main hotel building with a huge balcony overlooking the gardens and out to sea, it didn't have air conditioning and I think in peak summer months that could have been an issue. The room itself was spacious, comfortable and very clean if a little dated. Linen was changed every 3-4 days. The bathroom was 'different', it was really a wet room and in need of an upgrade. Having said that it was clean, the shower was powerful and the water hot. Towels were replaced as needed. It appeared that a lot of guests in the hotel travelled in groups and were staying on a full or half board basis, we always stay bed and breakfast as we like to try and see as much as we can during any holiday. Breakfast was very basic and if you don't eat sweet things very limiting. Some fruit, cheese or cold meat would have been welcomed. Entertainment was provided a couple of times during the week and although we didn't join in it was great fun watching some incredible dancing from our balcony. I was a bit sorry we didn't go to the Pizza nights, we were asked, just to watch the enormous outside ovens being fired up was amazing. The outdoor pool was very well maintained and constantly being cleaned, being under trees it understandably got leaves in it! The thermal pool was great to go to after a busy day looking around the Island. All in all we really enjoyed our stay, it was short walk into town or to the beach. The hotel offers good value for money accommodation in a lovely setting, we would stay there again. Thank you.

Did not love it, will not be back

    rating01 Sept 2011

I booked a premium room with sea view for three people. This room was up three steep flights of stairs with no elevator. While the sea view was beautiful I nearly died from the heat, as the "premium rooms" have no air-conditioning. Also, the bathroom was so small my feet were in the shower when I used the toilet! We moved to a garden style room that had air-conditioning that I paid extra for. The cost of this room was at the same cost as the premium room. I should I have paid less because there was no sea view. Actually I wish I had left and gone to another hotel! Overall the breakfast was sparse and over by 9 am. The other meals okay. I expected more fresh fruit and seafood. The dining room was not sufficiently air-conditioned and was hot. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired not only in my room, but generally throughout the entire hotel - there was a used tissue in the terme pool shower for three days, proving that no one cleaned the shower. Overall the staff is very nice, except for the women named Rochelle at the front desk. She was generally rude, and she refused to give me any kind of discount for the first horrible night where I had to sleep with my head at the foot of the bed in order to get some air. (They did bring up a fan, but it just blew hot air). Evidently, it was my fault because I ordered a premium room with sea view, but neglected to understand that their sea view rooms had no air conditioning. One expects air conditioning when paying a premium price, and I believe that their website says that the rooms are air conditioned. According to my friend this was a very nice place at one time, but it seems to have deteriorated over the last few years. I heard many other guests complaining about some of the same problems that I had with the hotel. My advice to the hotel is to put some money into the place before you have no customers at all. It really could be a lovely place to stay with some attention to the details. Also, if you speak German or Italian you will have no problem - everyone else bring your dictionaries because only one of the staff speaks English.....
