This hotel is located in a beautiful corner of the Old Town of Ischia, near the famous Castello Aragonese (about 200 m) of Ischia Ponte and some 400 m from the Cartaromana-Ischia Ponte. Thanks to its central location guests have easy access to all parts of the island of Ischia. Naples' Capodichino Airport is approximately 30 km away.

Facility

Ischia turned out to be the biggest disappointment of our trip- although not because of the hotel. When booking it was hard to find a hotel that had not just closed for the season. I picked Hotel Mare Blu as it was still open and had a 5 star rating. I also liked that they had a sister hotel with a gym and the website said we could use their facilities. I had read in previous reviews that some guests had issues with mosquitos but since I usually am not prone to bites I discounted that. To get to the hotel from the ferry we needed to take a bus (I'm sure cabs were also an option). The location is good as they are near a historical area with several shops and restaurants. They also are near the Castle which is supposed to be lovely. First problem was that the sister hotel had just closed for the season so no option to use their facilities. Second problem the Castle was closed for the days were were there due to a movie being filmed there (this also closed a portion of the town). I could not figure out how to work the AC and assumed after being told at our last hotel in Capri that the AC is finished for the season that is was off here as well (this was my fault for assuming and not being able to work it). It was cool enough outside so we slept with open windows. I was surprised in the morning to discover i was covered in bites. The hotel helped a lot with that. First someone came up to turn on the AC so we could close the windows. Next the maid and another staff member used a zapper to kill all the mosquitos on the walls. Our next night was much better. However due to lack of options I asked if we could leave one night early staying two nights instead of three. They kindly allowed this with no penalty for the early departure (which we greatly appreciated). I am not sure what gives this hotel a 5 star rating. The facility is older with plain - but clean rooms. There is a small beach across the street which honestly did not look very appealing. There is a very nice indoor thermal pool with was warm, not hot and very nice. I did not go to the outdoor pool as it was too cold for that. I did have a massage in the spa which was very professional and lovely. Breakfast was nice with a lot of options.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Has a private beach just across the road and two pools at the hotel. One pool is open air and the other is covered and heated. Towels are available at the poolside which you can help yourself to. Nice selection at breakfast and all of the staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a room without a balcony but did have a sea view and the room was a great size. The room has a small fridge and also a safe

A classic-style hotel with many advantages. Preserved traditions, interior, maybe in the future it will wait for some renovation. Everything is very clean, tidy. We were there in May, there was a lack of good weather, so we did not use the private beach, which was well-maintained and waiting for us. We used the warm thermal indoor pool for free, passing through the winter garden with plants. Excellent breakfast and service staff. Amazing view from the window. Next to the bus stop to the center and the ferry. We liked everything, it's a pity we stayed there only one night.

Ischia is gorgeous and I wanted this hotel to be a 5 star hotel but it lacks a few things . Positive is staff are 5 stars worthy. I received a warm welcome by Gianfranco and Roberta and was given a spectacular room which I appreciated the view .Thanks Gianfranco Roberta two of them were really great and friendly Breakfast although was ok eggs would run out fast .servive wise Carmen and Angelica did their best to please .Room was nice looking but then discovered its flaws - super hard bed they really need to invest in this . I asked housekeeping to assist with a “topper” but again an investment is needed. Last two days A/c wouldn’t lower which led to mosquitoes being active . My son had sooo many bites I was glad to leave , never happy to leave Ischia or Italy overall but it was overwhelming the mosquitoes . So that brings another point in investing to fumigate the place . Housekeeping Nidia and Mimma were great to spray but it isn’t enough. Also no place to dry clothes when using beach or pool . Pool was ok. Beach plus is access to private beach that part is lovely. Pretty classic Italian decorated property but needs improvement for the price that is offered because the most important part of a hotel is a good bed to obtain a good nights sleep .

Wonderful seaside hotel

This beautiful hotel sits on the sea in Ischia, Italy, with a magnificent view of Aragonese Castle. The staff were so accommodating and welcoming. They quickly got to know us and would have our room key just as we returned to the hotel each day, without having to recite our room number. Our room had a huge outdoor patio overlooking the sea, with chairs and a sunbed. There is a pool and mineral bath (and spa) on-site and access to a private beach across the street. Breakfast was served in the dining room with a huge choice of food. The hotel is bright with very pretty decor. This is a wonderful place for that island escape!
