    Excellent Staff - all lovely

    rating05 Oct 2025

We really enjoyed our stay. The location was excellent, near the beach and the Giardini Poseidon Thermal Springs (definitely worth spending the day here) and buses into town just outside. The standard room we had was dated but clean. The pool area was very good. We found the breakfast good and the lunch menu enjoyable (aubergine parmigiana yum!). The main positive was the staff. They were all helpful, welcoming and friendly. High praise for them. Would recommend staying here.

This hotel is very clean with friendly staff. You have magnificent views of the ocean and spectacular sundowns. There's 2 pools with thermal water one of them is an infinity pool with a beautiful view of the ocean. Two waterfalls shower. We took the breakfast included which had a great variety of Italian sweets, fruits and scrambled eggs with crispy bacon sausages. And much more. For lunch they have a very affordable menu prepared by Chef Antonio.Overall we spent 3 magnificent days.

A lovely holiday in a traditional Italian hotel.

    rating22 Jun 2025

We have recently returned from a holiday in this hotel and cannot understand the previous reviews. We found this hotel absolutely delightful. Our room was spotless; clean towels each day and our comfortable bed made while we had breakfast. It was lovely to have breakfast outside in the beautiful garden and they could not have provided a greater selection of fresh fruit, meat, cheese , eggs, savoury delicacies, pastries, tarts , yoghurts and more ! Just don't expect "a full English" - you won't get it! Just enjoy this delicious Italian breakfast..! We loved the two pools - especially the top thermal one with jets and the shady landscaped area for loungers . In the evening it was a joy to sit and have a drink on the comfy outdoor sofas and armchairs, with the sea in the distance across the road. Two nights with two very good singers.. What more could anyone want ?

Why haven't we been to Ischia before?!

    rating05 Jun 2025

The hotel is located in Citara just outside Forio on the beautiful Italian island of Ischia. From Naples airport it’s a 30-minute coach drive to the port where you catch the ferry to Ischia which takes approx. 90 minutes. The hotel is typically albergo-style Italian – very individual and with no corporate image. The staff are friendly, polite and very helpful, especially the reception staff and waitresses. Breakfasts are a combination of a small selection of English fare combined with a large selection of Continental offerings which van be taken al fresco. Lunch is also available if required. However, please note that evening dinner is not an option. The hotel is well-located close to the beach areas and to the small selection of shops, bars and restaurants –several of which have a discount arrangement on presentation of a card supplied by the hotel. All the restaurants offer similar menus but some are better than others. The hotel price also included day excursion packages (3) which cover boat trips to Positano and Amalfi (a long day with an early start but enjoyable), a visit to an ancient ‘Terme’ spa to enjoy the filtered waters which are from a spring hidden within the hills, and finally a visit to Sant’ Angelo on the southern tip of the island.Facilities at the hotel include two swimming pools – both fed by a water source resembling seawater but temperature-wise could cook a Lobster within minutes. This was eventually reduced to a more comfortable 38 degrees C within 2 days of our arrival. A smaller pool for young children is also here. Relaxation areas are very well maintained, clean and tidy at all times. Poolside toilets and a small sauna room are available. As the hotel effectively faces west, the evening sunsets are stunning – especially when seen from a beachside restaurant or a walk along the beach promenade. We stayed for 7 nights which was just sufficient for this particular location. Local buses are on hand to travel further afield into Forio town or Ischia Town and taxis are readily available. All the local people were friendly and helpful; English is not widely spoken but everyone gets by extremely well. Would we go back to Ischia? Yes! A lovely island with so much to see and learn.Tip: Though Positano and Amalfi are a ‘must-see’, we were a little concerned at the overcrowding (and this was only May/June). Plus, the excursion didn’t allow sufficient time to really explore beyond the beach front and a few very narrow shopping areas. Most shops sold local arts & crafts but many were high-end clothing outlets. Of the two locations we much preferred Amalfi. Be warned: the return boats do not wait for late arrivals – be back in good time and be prepared for a ‘bun-fight’ getting off and back on the boat! Personally, we considered Sant’Angelo a much better environment – very pretty and much more relaxing. Ciao!
