  This hotel spent all its budget on the facade, the rooms are no better than a budget motel, the flooring is cheap, it's lifting and peeling. The towels were thin and worn. The furniture generally was low rent. I will say the bed was comfy and I slept well. For an Italian hotel you would expect good coffee, not Nescafe instant. If you're British, think it as a trendy Premier Inn.

  Fantastic hotel. Great location, 15 minute walk to the station and 20 minute walk to the seafront. Terrific staff, superb breakfast and comfortable rooms. We had a front room 320 which had a small balcony but due to local power issues there was a huge generator in the street opposite which ran 24/7 and was extremely noisy so we couldn’t use the balcony or open the doors. This really is a business 2/3 day stay hotels the rooms do not have sufficient storage space for all clothing. Except for coat hangers we had to live out of the suitcase. Not a big problem but a couple of shelves/drawers would have been good. The TV was excellent with useable USB inputs for external devices. Despite Google saying there were chargeable USB points on the consoles there was only one and that was between the bedding on the headboard, so not very useful or practical. The bedside lighting was not very well designed either as the bulbs were of a too high wattage and too bright and never really worked just on your side. The lamps were a standard design around the hotel but needed to be refined for bedside use.Regarding sockets, always a bug bear of mine, there were none located near the room's mirror so make up, use of hair dryer was difficult. Regarding mirrors, the one in the bathroom ha d alight situated high above , it did not hep the mirror of shaving or putting in your contact lenses. There was no light near the mirror on the room either. Lighting in the rooms were good but there was a strange wiring situation. In the main room there were switches near the entrance door yet the two way switch by the bed only turned of one set. Likewise in the bathroom there were toe other switches inside but the external switch only turned off one light. Clever types of lighting designed for effect but not practically applied. The bed was huge but oddly only made up as two separate top sheets for most of the time. The towels were very thin but the bathroom had a fantastic shower. The hotel in general was superb. It could have done with a bar area for customers to sit, chat and relax. There was a lounge area but had no substance. The breakfast selection was of a very high standard and terrific section. Staff would prepare you scrambled or boiled eggs and bring you different coffees if you did not want the standard type on the counter. In general the staff were so helpful and friendly. Everyone was so accommodating. We had a couple of days of rain and the hotel supplied umbrellas which was very good.

  Great location, poor value for money

  Pros: Great location, great bed and amazing shower. Cons: terrible service, check in was unwelcoming with staff unhelpful, our room was not ready on time, no tea bags, no milk, no conditioner. I would rather spend a bit more money for a better hotel that would provide the service and amenities you would expect.

  We were guest of the Poet Hotel for only a few days, but those days were well spent. The Hotel is quiet, modern, and very comfortable. I had some issues with my bank card (unrelated to my stay at the hotel) that required concierge support to make a couple of international calls to work through the problem. I couldn't have resolved the problem without the patient support of the competent front desk staff. They were also super helpful in other ways, such as arranging a tour, getting train tickets, restaurant recommendations, and help in so many ways. Madelin stood out as a star. She speaks 4 languages and was our go-to for everything. Thank you ??

  Conveniently located within a 10-minute walk of La Spezia Centrale railway station, this is a comfortable modern hotel with good service. Would stay here again.
