  A truly beautiful stay

  This hotel is absolutely perfect for a visit to Riva Del Garda! The hotel is stunning with gorgeous grounds and a beautiful pool. The inside pool is great to use in the mornings when you have kids desperate for a swim and the outdoor pool isn’t quite warm enough yet! The breakfast was delicious, so much choice. The hotel was clean and lovely and all staff so friendly. We had a spacious room that had everything we needed and it was serviced every day. There is free parking available and it’s just a short and scenic walk down to the lake. Highly recommend this hotel, we plan to return very soon :)

  It’s a fantastic hotel with super nice and professional staff. The breakfast is out of this world.   Worst visit of my life (group leader)

  I’ve worked 32 years in organising big sports competitions (European, World Championships and Olympics) and the last years smaller group retreats. I’ve visited this hotel twice before in a couples trip whitout problems.This trip was the worst experience of my career. Arriving late evening with a group of 30 persons whom had travelled 12-14hrs to reach this hotel. No room keys made ready and it took nearly 60mins for the whole group to recive the keys. 3 older ladies 70yrs -80yrs old were unhappy with their room: keycard didnt work. electricity didnt work. They needed to change the room in the middle of the night. They didnt walk too well and their room was placed in the far end of dependance (towards the bus station). The next moring they changed the room again and in the end were downgraded from 2 bedroom 2 bathroom in to 20m2 room for 3 persons with no compensation.None of the rooms of 30 people had aircondioning nor did the WiFi work during the stay. Last evening we had a pre-ordered group dinner, that turned out to be the worst quality ever meal of our lives. Not one single person enjoyed the food, and those with vegetarian option had very little food. The fish was too salty, it had no vegetables at all. Diahes look ugly, and most of the people refused to pay for such low quality. Me as a groupleader wrote a reclamation that was never even replied by the hotel. Management dont have a clue how to organize a bigger group. Never order ”group menu” from this hotel. I get better looking food and service from countryside of Finland. This visit in Astoria was the biggest disappointment of my life. The only positive star is the superb beakfast and lovely staff. Exept the management / group booking. Avoid the group menu in Piazza. It has to be frozen thing just from freezer…

  The hotel is in nice surroundings. It is a 15 min walk into town (we knew this before booking) The room we had was in the main building but was of poor quality. The decor is very dated - think 1970's style. The bathroom was very small and it was not possible to stand at the sink ( which was plastic) and open the door- you needed to stand in/ close to the shower or next to the toilet. The room had the feel of a budget hotel. Paper cups were offered in the bathroom/ rooms for hot drinks ( there was a choice of 2 herbal tea bags) The pool and surrounding area was pleasant, clean but extremely busy. The spa was additional cost. An extra 20 Euros for 2 hrs to use the spa after 10am.The breakfast was however, excellent with plenty of choice and fresh food. We paid approx £250 Per night. I would suggest unless you are going to sit by the pool all day and eat every item at the breakfast buffet it might be more cost effective to stay somewhere else and find a good restaurant in town for breakfast.   Beautiful grounds - on edge of town . 10 mins walk to centre

  Astoria is located on the edge of town - next to the bus station and a highway.This means many rooms have a view or a urban city - when travelling from London to lake Garda this view is not what we wanted and can spoil the much anticipated trip. The description is not clear on the website. The staff we excellent and professional but I think 9 nights should of raised flags in our designated room and they should of contacted us - as a result we had to move twice which was welcomee the change but obviouslyMeans settling in is difficult and heightens issues with packing not having access to room on 2 days for a long time and we left items. Which were eventually found but not without persisting with the importance's i left my jewellery box in room 1 after moving and I had to persist on asking them to check the room - it was slow after 2 days they finally rechecked the room and it was found had they check when I first reported it as being left in the room it would of resolved l very quickly. Service is excellent at pool bar and breakfast however - breakfast a bit chaotic for us as queues mean that by the time you get everything for young kids adults have to queue for themselves as everything is a separate so everyone is eating at different times - it was not relaxing and created tension from the offset. Demand for on demand items such as eggs and crepes many times outstripped capacity and you can't rush the process. Eggs were often under cooked and seasoned poorly, too much salt on many occasions and every time we had to ask for 1 more minute to ensure eggs and crepes were cooked. We could re queue due to lengthy so often ended either with cereal and or a pastry. Coffee was ok not amazing Thatsaid the staff were excellent.Sadly on day 3 I lost my sunglasses inthe hotel and they were never returned, checking CCTV was onlydone after my husband persisted and still they only explored part of my whereabouts I was there for a further 7 days and they were not handed in or found and the camera shows I had them in the hotel..Tje pool is cold - if it's below 24 degrees outside or you've had wet windy days it's tough as a result our kids hardly swan in the pool - this is a massive disappotment as we could do easily got an aptment on the lake without pool at a much lower price. We were a bit unlucky with the weather from this perspective had it be 28+ we would of enjoyed the cool water. That said the lakes have so much to offer the oooknis often just a part of ala day versus the whole day. Mininclub was a bonus the kids can come and goes and they please it's relaxed and variety with structure but not ridgid - very calm and focussed team. My kids are resistant to clubs but dropped in and out which was possibly due to the poolBeing so cold.
