Excellent hotel, but disappointing restaurant and management experience

    rating02 May 2026

I would like to begin by highlighting the exceptional team at EALA Hotel Lake Garda. Throughout our stay, the hotel staff were attentive, friendly, and highly professional, contributing greatly to what was otherwise an enjoyable visit.Unfortunately, our experience at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant fell well below expectations. Several aspects of the service and overall dining experience were disappointing. Service between courses was slow and lacked flow, plates were cleared before we had finished eating, and table settings were not properly maintained - with dirty placemats left in place, crumbs not cleared, and cutlery inconsistently arranged. We also found communication to be a challenge. While we fully appreciate that the restaurant is based in Italy, at Michelin-star level we would expect staff to be able to clearly explain the dishes in English. At times, this made it difficult to understand what we were being served, which detracted from the overall experience. When we raised these concerns, we were particularly disappointed by the response from management, which felt dismissive and failed to acknowledge the issues or offer any meaningful resolution. This lack of accountability was especially disheartening given the otherwise high standards demonstrated across the rest of the hotel. While the hotel itself is excellent, thanks to its dedicated staff, the restaurant experience - and the handling of our feedback - significantly detracted from our overall stay, in what would otherwise have been a 5-star visit.

    Spectacular hotel and location

    rating12 Nov 2025

Stayed for 5 nights in the hotel in May 2025. Arriving at the hotel along the road way the hotel jumps out at you. The large EALA sign shows you a glimpse of the wonderful hotel behind it. Your luggage is attended to and your car is taken by a hidden car lift to a secret car park. Met with some drinks to check in and then out to the balcony to the magnificent view of the natural mountain range that surround the hotel at Lake Garda. All room face out to the lake and ours was a junior suite Albus with B and B. The views are stunning and the accommodations are first class. The small hotel Mercedes bus is always on site to provide a free lift to the village of Limone and back at any time to visit a restaurant of tourist site in the village. Staff are fabulous and cannot do enough for you. They helped to upgrade my small amount of Italian and by the end of the 5 days I was almost fluent. Breakfast is served on the balcony in the restaurant and even at that time of the morning in May the sun can get quiet hot. Very pricey hotel but the views and staff make it a memorable experience.Th onsite spa and wellness area is spectacular and I visited more the a few times. It is however an international spa so be prepared that most people use it in the nude.

Wow doesn’t even come near to the experience we had at the EALA

    rating04 Oct 2025

From theMoment we walked into the Eala we were amazed, the decor & very clam atmosphere and the warm welcome we received was fantastic, welcome drink was very needed and enjoyed, staff all very helpful and the rooms were just wow, one of the nicest 5 star hotel we have ever stayed at, the Breakfast and attention to detail was fantastic, the quality of the food and drinks excellent, the free shuttle into Limone was great and the drivers all so lovely, the swimming pool and beds spotless clean and very comfortable, the little walk down to the private beach was kept so clean and more sunbeds down by the lake was a lovely touch , the is nothing negative to say about this fabulous hotel and its staff , we didn’t have time for breakfast on checkout as we had a early flight but the amazing staff Made us up a lovely breakfast hamper with pastries , water and probiotic drinks which we had at the airport they also made us a takeaway coffee which was such a lovey surprise, a shout out to the lovely Maria on reception who was just so lovely and so helpful with restaurant recommendations and thing to do . All in all we had the most amazing experience and can’t wait to come back

Wonderful hotel with improvements to be made

    rating13 Aug 2025

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Eala. This is our third stay since June 2024. There are lots of positives to Eala, including its wonderful setting, cleanliness, spa/pool area and breakfast. However, we feel that Eala has lost its spark, for the following reasons: 1. Service in the hotel - whilst the reception staff are polite and welcoming, our third stay was not acknowledged even though we reminded them in an email. This was disappointing as it is the extra little touches that make a difference. 2. Service in the Bistro - on our first night we dined in the Bistro. We were served by a waiter who was unwell and had a dreadful cold. He kept sniffing when serving us and wiping his nose. This was off putting and not the start to the holiday we wanted - the last thing we wanted to do was catch a cold at the beginning of our break! On the same night I was also given a desert containing gluten and if it wasn’t for me questioning the biscuit like topping, I could’ve become very unwell. 3. Dogs - we identified two dogs staying at Eala during our stay. One was a puppy and particularly disruptive - it was very yappy and reactive. The dogs were also welcome in the indoor area of the restaurant, which we felt was inappropriate particularly as they weren’t well behaved and due to the cost of the food in the Bistro. 4. Bistro experience - last year we were supplied with complimentary appetisers and a petit four after dinner. These were no longer offered. We were advised by one of the staff that a new manager had taken over the restaurant. Unfortunately, we do not feel that the changes were for the better. The menu is as also confusing and the special dishes lacked variety - the pasta of the day was a courgette dish which did not change for the duration of our stay. 5. We were served a ‘packet breakfast’ on our final morning as we vacated early. This was of very poor quality. We were served a stale sandwich , a few berries and a croissant. We have stayed in less prestigious hotels where the breakfast offered in the room was far superior. This needs addressing as we felt like we were dining from a canteen. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable. Had we have not experienced what Eala was like last year, I’m sure we would’ve enjoyed the stay more. However, for the reasons described, we do not feel that the stay was 5*. Our holiday began in Florence at the St Regis where complimentary tea and coffee was served to your room in the morning, and a complimentary pressing service was given for your evening outfit. These extra touches make an experience truly 5*. This review is not intended to put anyone off Eala, as it is a wonderful hotel, although changes need to be made to bring back its spark.
