Lovely hotel in the old town

    rating01 Jun 2026

Great hotel situated in the old town of Riva del Garda. Very kind and friendly staff who look after you extremely well. The hotel is sparklingly clean and rooms are well appointed. It’s worth paying a bit extra for a balcony. For a hotel situated in a town it’s very quiet at night. We stayed bed and breakfast and found the breakfast offered more than enough choice. It’s a small hotel which we feel was perfect for us. We like being in the old town, there are plenty of places to eat at night and there’s usually live music in the main square. Great walks along the lake, ferries to other towns and lots of history!

    Excellent stay in Riva

    rating30 Oct 2025

Lovely hotel with great staff. We stayed here beginning of October booked through Jet 2. Check in was easy, they even brought our cases to the room and gave our 5 year old some snacks. Room was clean, a bit on the small side but acceptable. Bed was comfortable and a fridge was available. No kettle but this is standard in Italy. Room was serviced daily to a high standard. We had the half board package. The food was of good quality and staff were happy to amend if not to taste. My daughter had pasta with butter made on a few occasions and loved it. They even made her a kids Aperol spritz and gave her some colouring pens and book - small touches that make all the difference . Location is excellent, right in the centre of Riva. Lots of bars and restaurants locally. Would return to this hotel. All staff were brilliant.

    Small & friendly

    rating16 Oct 2025

We stayed at this hotel the first week in October, we arrived late, check in was quick & easy. We missed evening meal but a cold plate of food & water was left in our room. First impressions were small, very quiet but most importantly clean & comfortable. No kettle as like most Italian hotels but we asked at reception and were lucky enough to get one the next day. We also asked for extra pillows & realised some plug sockets were 3 pins so borrowed an adapter. We left our bags & went out for a walk and was really surprised how quiet it was at 10pm there was no shops open & most places started to close, just the odd restaurants and bars open. It was pretty chilly too. After a good nights sleep we opened our curtains to a lovely Mountain View on the fourth floor to the front of the hotel with a small balcony. Breakfast was adequate, it was just the same everyday. The cold selection was ok but in my opinion a couple of more hot options would have been better, maybe some beans or tomatoes ( we just had scrambled eggs & sausage everyday). Evening meal you got to choose the day before from a set menu, we had some nice dishes but also some weird combinations that weren’t so good but it was acceptable. The restaurant is very small and the tables are so close together it can feel awkward sometimes. Breakfast you sit where you want but evening meal you get allocated a table for the week. We met some lovely coupleswho you can’t help but talk to as your sat so close, usually we like to keep ourselves to ourselves, but everyone was genuinely lovely we would swap tips & share the places where we’d been. Riva in general we found to be absolutely beautiful just a bit too quiet at night for us and losing the sun behind the mountain at 3.30pm it would become chilly, but we still thoroughly enjoyed our trip & stay at this hotel all the staff are very pleasant, helpful & hardworking. It’s a good base to explore the north of the lake.

Beautiful Hotel & Views, But Food & Management Disappoint

    rating12 Oct 2025

Beautiful Hotel & Views, But Food & Management DisappointThe hotel itself is beautiful with stunning views, very clean facilities, and incredibly helpful staff. However, there are a few areas that let it down. The mattresses are extremely hard, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. More concerning, though, is the attitude of management. They seem overly defensive and dismissive of guest feedback — it’s clear that here, the customer is not always right. The biggest disappointment, however, was the food. During our stay, we encountered uncooked pasta, slimy lasagna, and very dry chicken that appeared to have been cooked well in advance. When I asked about the lack of butter with the bread rolls, I was told, quite bluntly, that “the English don’t eat butter” — and the manager refused to consider otherwise. If you’re looking for a beautiful place to stay, this hotel delivers. But if food quality and guest service are important to you, I would strongly recommend dining elsewhere during your stay. Blu Hotels, Owner at Hotel Antico Borgo, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad that you appreciated the beauty of the hotel, the views, and the cleanliness of our facilities. We would like to emphasize that our staff is always committed to professionalism and courtesy, and we are surprised by your comment regarding the restaurant service, as all dishes are carefully prepared with attention to quality and freshness. Please rest assured that any feedback from our guests is always welcomed and handled with care, so that we can promptly address any issues and meet our guests’ needs. Kind regards,

    Hidden gem

    rating03 Oct 2025

We had a wonderful week in Riva at Hotel Antico Borgo, this charming small, friendly hidden gem was a real delight. Located in the historic traffic free part of the town we thoroughly enjoyed wondering around the cobbled streets and eating in the many restaurants near by. Our room was clean and although we didnt have a balcony the window over looking the street below was very pretty.Breakfast was good and the staff very attentive and got to know our coffee order very quickly.A special thank you to the staff who helped my husband who had a medical problem, the receptionist very quickly arranged medical help and also provided translation as our Italian is very limited. This hotel may be small but it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The roof terrace is beautiful, looking over all the roof tops and up at the mountains is one of the best things about the hotel.
