  We stayed here due to its location to the railway station. It is a short walk, about 15 minutes, but there are several road crossings and there is normally a lot of traffic, so be careful. The hotel itself is quite modern. The room we had was clean and well appointed, including a small fridge. The WiFi was very good, and the hotel restaurant serves very nice local cuisine. There is no Bar however, but it is located near a few restaurants and a large shopping centre. The only downside of our stay was the city tax, we booked this room via booking.com, and our booking said there was no additional taxes to pay, and we did ask when we checked in, and we believe they said there wasn't. But later they did say we owed it. So please check. The hotel though did a really nice thing, we had to catch a ferry and we asked for the concierge to order us a taxi. Unfortunately there was a strike on, but the hotel arranged an employee to drive us, and Francesco drove us and was really nice. All in all a good stay, I will say the hotel is in a part of town that is outside the tourist area, so be aware of this.

  Restaurant mediocre at best (Hotel itself is good)

  Food is at best average. Unfortunately there is no alternative around.The tagliatelle was very marbled, half of the meat was not good.The salmon was OK.Advice - try to eat in town before heading to hotel and checking in.

  Good for the ferry

  A good location for the ferry to Corsica or Sardinia, although it can be 30 minutes to drive there. The family room was large, comfortable and quiet. Nice food in the restaurant. An early start for the ferry meant we asked for the bagged breakfast; it was huge and very welcome. We also stopped here on our way back and the breakfast in the restaurant was amazing. It is a very clean, modern and welcoming hotel. Only down side is that the car park is quite small, so if you have a late landing from the boat, you may struggle to find a parking space.

  Could be a 4* hotel with a few changes needed

  As others have said, this hotel is acceptable and could be very good with a few changes.Overall the hotel and rooms are modern and clean but our room needed a bit of a refresh with some peeling wallpaper and some mould patches in the bathroom.One other thing to note was the beds were two singles pushed together to make a double. Whilst not a problem, whenever you moved the bed would move around the room making a nights sleep a little uncomfortable.Check in staff were a little on the unfriendly side and whilst easy to check in, they were lacking a little warmth and friendliness you’d expect from a hotel.Breakfast was serviceable, at €5 each per day i can’t really grumble.This was literally a bed for two nights as we explored the local area but any longer and I’d probably be slightly more critical.Car park is a little on the small side too but the location to Livorno station is definite plus.

  Great overnight stay!

  We had a quick one night stop over at the Max Hotel in Livorno before catching the ferry to Corsica.The hotel room was a nice size and very clean. Good shower, in a bath tub for those who prefer a bath.The hotel was not located in the city centre, a bit of a draw back, but for one night it was great.We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant which was a pleasant surprise!The quality of the food was excellent and Francesco, the gentleman serving us was a pleasure! We also saw him at breakfast…a hard working man! The breakfast selection was good and had something for everyone.I would recommend this hotel for a short stay, but any longer, I would want to be in the city centre.
