    Great hotel, food was hit or miss

    Just spent a week at Hotel President in Viareggio with my UK coach tour group. Overall we had a great stay and were made to feel very welcome throughout. The front desk staff, porterage team and restaurant front of house staff were all friendly, attentive and very hardworking. Special mention to Laila, Giusy and Clara who looked after us brilliantly all week with big smiles despite being constantly busy.Rooms were comfortable and well appointed with kettle and minibar included.My only criticism would be the food, which was a bit inconsistent. Pasta was often undercooked rather than properly al dente, and some dishes lacked flavour or creativity. The Tuscan evening meal of pasta bolognese followed by meatballs in tomato sauce felt rather uninspired, and the bacon and scrambled eggs at breakfast were unfortunately not great at all. Thankfully there were still plenty of other breakfast options available.Despite that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

    We there for 14 days with a tour group. Location is wonderful for walking many places along the waterfront and is very close to the bus and train station. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very comfortable and we lucked out by having a balcony that faced the beach. Our criticism is more about the breakfast buffet. Staff were amazing but you tire really quickly of scrambled eggs after 14 days. More variety would be nice in both breakfast and dinners. Location makes this place and excellent option.

    Lovely hotel in a great location to explore Tuscany / Liguria

    Returned to Via Reggio in Sept 2025, together with friends on their first visit to Italy - with a view to showing them around Tuscany and Liguria. This hotel was one of two hotels that we used - the other being the Palace Hotel. We preferred the location of the President, as it is right on the sea front and adjacent to an open park area - so feels more spacious and lighter. Opposite the hotel, on the promenade is the best cafe in Via Reggio - excellent drinks, meals, pastries etc etc. Lots of choice in regard of restaurants situated on the promenade- which is a mere 20 yards away over the road. Turn left out of the hotel entrance and the train station is 15 minute walk inland, straight down the road - comes out directly opposite the station. So an excellent base from which to explore Florence, Sienna, Lucca, Pisa and the Cinque Terre via the reliable and cheap Italian trains. The hotel is very well maintained - very clean throughout. Nice, welcoming bar situated just off the lobby - very good prices. Breakfast was very good - everything you could want, hot and cold - located in a lovely room on ground floor. We had a well appointed Superior room, with duel aspect views over the sea and the park adjacent to the hotel - very nice. Lovely bathroom, with shower (no bath) - good water pressure. All staff were very friendly and welcoming - couldn’t fault. Room rates very competitively priced. No hesitation in returning to the President for future visits to Tuscany.

    We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks. This was part of a Senior Discovery tour of Tuscany. The hotel is nice but the food was not good. Most suppers were lukewarm and it seemed to be the cheapest thing they could find. Very disappointing when in Italy.

    Lovely hotel - perfect location; room was very clean, breakfast was good and all the staff were helpful - would recommend for sure!!
