  An authentic and quaint hotel tucked away within the Lucca Walls

  We stayed for 3 nights with two rooms. From the minute our taxi pulled up outside we were greeted by the staff who came outside to meet us and help with our bags. From the instant this set the tone as every member of staff was super friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. It’s a family run hotel and you can really feel this - it felt like being at home! Both rooms were ornately decorated which added to the charm of the hotel. Rooms were comfortable- literally the only thing I would change was the air conditioning as it was quite noisy and not always blowing cold air. We had drinks in the bar before bed every night and they were reasonably priced. It was never too much effort to be served drinks and staff consistently go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast was served rather than a buffet. It was served in china teapots and cups, the cheese platter was served on a tiered platter! Everything was homemade from the cakes to the pancakes - which our teenagers enjoyed! I have had this Italy trip booked for months and originally had another hotel booked for Lucca, but I saw this hotel online and changed it last minute and I’m so glad I did! It was a great value for money, so friendly and welcoming- nothing was too much trouble, staff were always smiling and it was in such a lovely location - quiet but every site was within 10 minute walk. I would definitely recommend and would return in a heart beat! Thank you so much for a lovely stay!   Traditional Tuscan hotel, absolutely immaculate with some of the best staff you will ever find. A friendlier place doesn’t not exist ..   MUST STAY IN LUCCA

  So, where do you start. We have stayed at this hotel twice and each time it only gets better. I am almost sorry to write this review because it will highlight the OUTSTANDING nature of this establishment, We stayed at this hotel first to visit Lucca and the second was to come back to the Lucca Summer Festival. Not only does this hotel have charm from the entrance but each room is decorated and furnished for everyone’s comfort. Having been there twice we have gotten to know the owner Mario, his son Gabriel, Ricardo the best concierge we have met and the most wonderful man Roberto who takes pride in making each and every customer valued and respected. Of course there are others there and they are also attentive and customer focused.What we value is the location. It is within the walled city but far away from the congested tourist area. So, it is quiet and comfortable. Its location provides easy walking to any of the tourist and restaurant areas. Having an attentive staff is probably the best part of this hotel. During our most recent trip we had flight delays and missed connections. Even with the assurance of both British Airways and American Airlines our one and only checked bag was lost and delayed. Our trip was planned for seven days and our bag was delayed by six days. Our luggage did have an AirTag and we tracked the luggage, The delayed lost luggage station at the Florence Airport were able to find the location of our bag in. Philadelphia. They told us it would be 48 hours until we would receive it at our hotel in Lucca. Gave us a phone number to call and we left assured of their ability. Wrong, the phone number only had a one hour window twice a day and it took three days to get a reply. Our air tag showed the transfer from PHL TO LHR TO FLR….. then it took four days of its ftravel through both southern and northern Tuscany to reach us. It only reached us through the intercession of Gabriel at the hotel who had to threaten them into action. Even with that the luggage took two more full days to be delivered. LESSON, unless you have an advocate like the staff at the Palazzo Aleander our luggage would still be touring Italy.Would I stay here again, Yes and we plan on going to the LSF next June/July and would not stay anywhere else. With an established family owned and operated Hotel you get the service from restaurant reservations to Bike rentals.
