  I absolutely loved this hotel. Full of charm quirks, art, history and past grandeur. People were very welcoming and friendly, deluxe room in main villa was lovely and comfortable decorated in a traditional Italian Villa style in keeping with the historical Villa. Gorgeous views of the sweeping driveway and surrounding beautiful Countryside as requested. The bathroom may have been slightly dark but didn't bother us as it is an older style hotel. Good shower lovely shutters to keep out the light, not that there was any. Loved the big pool with it's lovely gardens and views very peaceful could hear nothing but crickets chirping. They booked dinner for us for that evening on arrival which was in the romantic softly lit Courtyard, very nice tried their wine very good would recommend. Breakfast was ok it is a 3 star hotel remember, plenty of pastries, bread, cheese ham etc the scrambled eggs maybe slightly over done for my taste . Juice could have been better but overall a lovely stay and they booked a private car transfer to Pisa for us too, the young driver was the most polite nicest smart friendly (handsome!) professional making it a really good experience, he also provided bottles of water and refreshing wipes. Only half hour to the airport and about 10/15 minutes ish by taxi to Lucca. Nice walks, Gelato place over the road, wine tasting in the hotel. Looks wonderful setting for weddings. Definitely recommend.

  Could have been much better.

  The Villa is beautiful, the pool area good, on the drive up to the Villa it looked great. Unfortunately almost everything about the place could be better. The room was ok, but dull. A great view for sure, but a tiny bathroom with an elbow bashing shower and sad thin towels. The aircon was noisy and not a match for the morning sun. Breakfast was lamentable. Self served either on a terrace that was not well shaded, or in a dull windowless dining room. Tables were not laid up at all, everything had to be carried out on a tray. A toaster that took an age and only toasted one side. Cheap produce, plastic cheese. The fruit selection varied from day today, if you were lucky there might be a ripe peach. Bread rolls that were a little stale, as if had if they had been frozen. Eggs were rubbery and not refilled if you got down towards the end of service.It was more like a cheap motel breakfast than a good hotel.We had dinner at the Hotel restaurant one evening. It was not good either. The main courses were only ok, the accompanying vegetables were dull.I sent back my starter as the melon was not ripe, an essential if the plate is only melon and ham, it came back with the same melon, but the rind had been removed. Unbelievable! No apologies were offered when I sent it back again.When we came to pay the bill at the end of our stay it was still on it.We felt that customer care was lacking at this Hotel. That corners were cut at almost every opportunity. It could have been great, but it really wasn’t.Oh and check out was at 10 am, really, so last century.

  Book this accommodation with caution. The rooms in the building next to the main house are a bit depressing and receive little sunlight.We went to the reception to ask for another room. They said there were none available, except for an upgrade. This felt strange because on Booking.com, several economy and standard rooms were listed as available.The service at the reception felt cold from the start, and even more so in response to the complaints. They acted in a haughty manner. Based on the responses we received, it seems they have encountered these complaints before. Their marketing is on point; they know how to ‘counter’ questions at the reception. However, they fall short on customer experience. Economy Rooms in the Annex are the cheapest type of room among the types we offer.Due to availability, we decided to give you an upgrade for free, in a Quadruple Classic Room in the Annex, which not only is larger, but also has ordinary windows in addition to the skylight.When you requested to change your room with another one because your room was not meeting your expectations, you were explained that you were in an already upgraded room. We promptly checked availability and found that we could give you a further upgrade in a Deluxe Room in the Villa. With the price of Deluxe Rooms being much different from the cheapest type, that is, the Economy Room you initially booked, you were told that in this case the upgrade would have needed a supplement per night, based on the best available rate on our website.You decided to decline our offer. We also remind you that upon reservation on either our website or booking.com, customers are given the chance to see the picture of the room type they are going to reserve, to have a better idea of the space they are going to stay in.We are sorry to hear that your experience with us felt unpleasant for you.   OK hotel, I think. there are better value for money else where in the area

  Good size room, the pool is very clean, however you have to pay 3 euro to use a towel !! Which I find very poor! The bathroom was dated and the light worked me as electric cables were showing. Air conditioning a bit old fashioned and not great, could do with a refurbishment of the rooms. Breakfast was a mess, it was like being in a canteen, had to struggle to get anything, the coffee was awful. the buffet was set up in a very small room with no space to get anything. The location is OK for Lucca if you drive in but very expensive by taxi. Staff were OK not over friendly.In general I think the hotel is a good location if you drive but does need an update. We didn't eat in the hotel
