????? The five-star night we didn't know we needed

After a wonderful dinner at Baccanti restaurant (see my review there), the last thing we wanted was the long drive back to our terrible Marinagri Hotel (read my review of that one and you'll understand). So we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to pamper ourselves with a proper 5-star night — and what a decision it turned out to be.Everything at BV Quarry Hotel was outstanding from start to finish. The rooms are spectacular and wonderfully spacious. The kids were assigned a queen suite so generous they could have easily thrown a party for 20+ of their friends in there. My missus and I were in the suite next door, with a mattress that didn't just support you — it cuddled you. I haven't slept that well in ages.And then there's the setting: a recently and beautifully restored ancient building nested right inside Matera's Sassi. Waking up surrounded by that history and those views leaves you genuinely speechless.Two things you absolutely must not miss: drinks on the terrace, with the Sassi laid out in front of you — magical — and the breakfast, which is so rich and varied you simply don't want it to end.What started as an impulsive escape from a disappointing hotel turned into one of the highlights of our trip. This is what five stars actually means. We'll be back.

Excellent choice capture the city vibe great hotel but the best is the staff they were so helpful in every aspect. The terrace bar/restaurant wonderful as are the rooms. Very pleasant breakfast. Overall highly recommended

We enjoyed a lovely meal here on the terrace overlooking the Sassi. Staff made it very special for us they were very attentive. Food was delicious.

An amazing experience in Matera!

This resort is stunningly beautiful. As you near the hotel you will be wondering if booking it was a mistake, as all the surroundings are so modern. Matera is built into the hillside so as you approach the hotel from the top plaza, it reveals its true stunning beauty. We stayed in a Jr Suite with pool (think massive jet tub) that is carved into the rock. The bathrooms truly are spa like, and are absolutely huge, with dual showers. The rooms and property are spotless….cleanest I have seen in my travels throughout Italy. There are robes and slipper provided and the bed and pillows were extremely luxurious which provided us with amazing nights sleeps.The rooftop restaurant offers stunning views and a wide assortment of options. The meal we had was excellent. Breakfast is literally in a cave and they cater to pretty much anything you desire. The staff and service overall was top notch, and provided the level of service you would expect from a resort of this calibre.Overall this was one of the most unique hotel experiences we have ever had. The BV Quarry Resort will not disappoint!
