Good location. Clean. Friendly staff. Bad Cocktails!!

    rating03 May 2026

We stayed for 4 nights bed and breakfast in a superior room Friendly staff Good location, with a Metro station around the corner, which will take you to all the sights within a few minutes and you can take a 5-10 walk to the canal district where there are countless restaurants etc Bedroom was ok EXCEPT there was NO air conditioning - this is not as stated on the website - it depends whether the air conditioning is working and because the hotel is part of a larger apartment building, the hotel cannot dictate when the air conditioning is on or off. This is disappointing as the weather was very warm. They gave us a fan instead! Bed was rather firm. No British / English TV channels - we also checked this with Reception who also confirmed that there was no English channels - this was disappointing. Breakfast is good - a wide range of quality foods including fruit, yogurts, cheese, salmon, a few hot dishes, plus various pastries etc etc, and different types of coffees and teas. But often food dishes are not replenished unless you ask - every morning we had to ask regarding various foods before they were replenished- so the staff do not keep an eye on them which is disappointing. However they also provide gluten free breads/biscuits/muffins etc which was much appreciated We had cocktails - I had a Negroni - it was was the WORST Negroni I have ever had!! There was no Campari added so I asked why and the lady at the bar said that a Negroni does not have any Compari !!! She was adament that a Negroni does not have Compari!!! It was also made with soda water, with a slice of lemon!!! However we also ordered a Aperol Spritz - that was also not nice, but it was made with Campari but with Aperol !!! . Essentially they mixed the ingredients up to make a completely different type of cocktail!! There’s are steps down to the entrance but there is also a ramp, but there are still 6 steps which are a bit steep There’s a pleasant small terrace on the ground floorEverywhere is clean and tidy

apartment good , but poorly equipped kitchen/TV

    rating13 Nov 2025

I stayed, solo traveller, November-2025 in one of the 8 apartments that have a separate entrance from the street beside the entrance to reception. I arrived early before midday and after a short wait my room was ready and the male receptionist was helpful, courteous, efficient and had perfect English, as was the checkout staff. The 1-bed apartment was clean, modern, spacious although the bathroom had a bad smell from the drains which I solved by opening the tilting window (after I found a key). I could hear noise from the street at night but earplugs solved that problem. The bed was firm and comfortable. Very convenient location for Navigli and Duomo (20mins by tram) and south-central Milan, and metro M2 and trams lines10 and 14 stop beside the hotel. For people who want to be near a supermarket there is a new LIDL supermarket around the corner (couple of minutes walk). For people who want fast-food there is a late-opening Burger King next door, plus various pizza/pasta places right outside the hotel and other restaurants a short walk nearby, and at least two coffee shops within a few minutes walk. For people with luggage coming from Linate via M4, the more step-free access is to exit M4 at De Amicis, take the elevator or escalator up to the street, then take Tram 14 southbound at the nearby stop to get off at Solari stop outside the hotel (which is 3 stops later). Otherwise the transit change between M4 and M2 at San Ambrogio involves a lot more walking and a lot more steps up and down that are hostile for large luggage.A negative was the claimed "fully equipped" kitchen which was inadequate, (and easily fixable by Accor). There was no teapot (unthinkable for tea drinkers), no drinking glasses for wine or juice, only a *single* spoon/knife/fork/teaspoon, a single ceramic cup, a single plate/bowl etc! Minimalism to the extreme for no real cost saving. No microwave. No cleaning utensils or dishwashing soap. The Electric-kettle did not work but reception resolved that on the same day which was really helpful. The cooker (old slow hotplates) and oven and capsule coffee-machine and refrigerator all worked well. There was only a single English-language TV channel (France24 rolling news), no BBC, no CNN etc which is poor for international visitors. Accor should improve these inexpensive aspects of the kitchen equipment and TV channel choice for English speaking visitors..So if you are thinking of the apartment rooms at the Solari, this should help you decide. Despite the kitchen shortcomings, I would use these Solari apartments again.

    Terrible experience with the reservation

    rating24 Sept 2025

I made a reservation in April for two nights, with full payment charged to my card. When I made it, I made a mistake. Instead of booking Monday and Tuesday, I booked Sunday and Monday. I realized almost immediately and requested the change directly with the hotel. Basically, what I was asking for was to shift the reservation by one day, not to cancel it.The hotel’s response was that no changes were allowed. They canceled the reservation and kept me going back and forth for weeks with the possibility of a partial refund, which they eventually also rejected.Although I know the initial mistake was mine, I was upset that they didn’t even make the effort to move the reservation by one day. I would have even preferred that they honor the Monday reservation, even if I had to pay for Tuesday separately. But no, instead they canceled the entire reservation, and I lost the amount paid (approximately 400 USD).On top of that, they made me wait week after week, without even being able to provide a quick response. I ended up staying somewhere else.Honestly, it is a very, very bad and inflexible service, which I do not recommend at all.

Fantastic location, clean and well-equipped room at a great rate

    rating11 Sept 2025

I booked an apartment here for only one night as a stopgap before moving to my next hotel, and my only regret is not booking the Mercure Milano Solari for a longer stay. The location is fantastic, well connected with good restaurants and stores easily accessible on foot. My apartment was very clean, spacious and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. I thought it offered very good value for money, especially when compared with other options in Milan. The staff were helpful, professional and pleasant. I would love to stay here again.
