DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOSTEL

    rating25 Jul 2023

DO NOT stay at this hostel. They stated there was going to be air conditioning, but they turned it off at midnight. RIDICULOUS! You toss and turn at night and wake up sweaty and miserable. If you open the window, noise from the street keeps you awake as well as dogs barking. Sadly, people smoking cigarettes also wafts into the space; this is terrible if you are allergic. Once the sun starts to shine, it warms up the room to over 30 degrees Celsius. To add insult to injury, the owner also does not turn on the hot water for the shower until 8:30 a.m., which makes for a miserable, cold shower in the morning if you are trying to get out to see the sites. The staff at the reception desk are left having to apologize for their owner who does not care about the guests. It is painful to observe and makes me shudder. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with this place. Downstairs there is a kitchen for guests. Sadly, there is not enough glasses for guests to use, the equipment has seen better days, the refrigerator is too small for all the people in the hostel to use it, there is only one large fork in the utensil drawer and few cutting knives, and the stove gets so hot it has peeled the plastic off the wall by the stove and surprised it has not caught on fire. And I hope you are not allergic to cigarette smoke because the staircase outside the door is a smoker's corner, and it wafts into the kitchen making guests nauseous. And if you take you food out of the kitchen into the other room to eat because of the smoke, management gets angry and tells you have to eat in the kitchen. There is a workspace for guests in an adjacent room, but there are not enough outlets for everyone to hook-up their laptop and the table is too high for the mixed matched chairs. The list goes on and on. Save yourself a headache and find someplace else to stay in Milan. It's not worth the pain and suffering. Guests do not get what they pay for at this establishment.

    Birthday in Milán

    rating18 May 2022

Milano Ostello. This is a very nice and clean hostel. The guys that work the front desk are very kind and friendly and willing to assist however they can. You can see the cleaners throughout the day working hard to keep the place the way it is, clean! The male dorm for 6 was spacious and clean with an ensuite. The best time to shower is in the evening and at night because the morning time the hot water is scarce. The room does have air conditioner but you have to ask the front desk to turn it on and they’ll turn it back off when they feel it is time. I didn’t like that but it is what it is. The windows do open in the room and Milan is very hot in May. The heat wasn’t my reason for wanting the air on, it was my allergies. Pollen is in the air. Overall I enjoyed my three night stay here and will stay again. They do have a kitchen area and hang out area downstairs. The place is gated and entry to the building and your room requires a key card.

    Close to train station

    rating12 Sept 2021

I spent just one night in this hostel, I arrived at 2 Am, the reception was not open but luckily they had left an envelope outside with the explanation on how to get to the room. So it is important to message them if you are going to arrive late. I honestly just arrived, changed clothes in the bathroom and slept. The next day I woke up and there was also no one in the reception so I left my keys there and went. It felt a bit awkward that I did not see anyone at any time there. It seems the reception is working only from 14 to 20 oclock. Location close to train station.

    WORST NIGHT EVER

    rating04 Aug 2019

2 BIG PROBLEM: Please read this before booking this place. - The hotplate in the kitchen was not working, no glass available in the kitchen, no utensil available in any kind for the kitchen, no proper plate or knife etc etc. The trash not big enough, so when too many people put stuff in the trash it's get filled really quickly and that start to be really dirty quickly. The place was also dirty in general, kitchen and others part of the hostel. The mosquitos were everywhere downstairs because of the humidity. The socket of my bed was dangerously broken, working but broken. The window of the bathroom of my room leads to a playground the little cover didn't cover at all the sight from outside felling quite uncomfortable to get naked to take shower when some kids are playing soccer just in front of you and when you can see them and they can see you. No locker in the toilet for the common room (dirty as well). My food in the fridge get robbed, not the fault of the hostel but that adds to the very unpleasant moment I add in this staying. - During an afternoon the evacuation system of my room stopped to work. Straight away I inform the person in charge at the reception. Unfortunately, it was not possible to be repaired. That means it was not possible anymore to take a shower, use the toilet or the washbasin in my room. Also, that means there is already water floating in the shower, toilet, and washbasin (dirty water). I let you imagine the result for the hygiene and for the smell. This night, I'm wake-up by a really strong smell (stronger than the already bad smell we have) and also by a strong noise. The toilet handles get released meaning the water was flooding in continue. In a normal toilet, not a problem the water will be evacuated. But because the evacuation was broken the water start to inundate all room. Really bad smell, lot of mosquitos and my feet was littérally full of sh..! Every people in my room, like me, left the room because it was not possible to stay.

    Okay but nothing memorable

    rating10 Jun 2019

I’ve learnt from staying in hostels that it’s the small things that make a difference for guests and in major tourist cities it can be what sets accommodation options apart from their competitors. The room was clean and the hostel is in a good location. I liked that you could also access the building with a secure key to open the gate and that each bed has huge lockers available for all your belongings. However, that’s about where the good things end. I was told on check in that I was only allowed to use the microwave and fridge in the kitchen but there is a stovetop in the kitchen. But there are no pots and pans supplied, so maybe that was why I was told to only use the microwave? That’s not good enough in my opinion - if I had known this I would have booked a different hostel. Oh, and there’s no spoons in the kitchen either. And this place doesn’t supply complimentary tea or coffee and milk which most other hostels I’ve stayed in do. I purchased a new lock during my stay in Milan and reception didn’t even have a pair of scissors I could borrow to open the packet! Instead, they lent me the most blunt and broken Stanley knife to open the packet. I ended up giving up and picking the packet open with the pen I brought with me. So yeah, the place is clean at least but I wouldn’t recommend it to any family or friends staying in Milan.
