  Renovated front side rooms still noisy

  In our most recent visit we were given renovated front side single rooms, with a very nice new bathroom. However rooms were hot with windows closed and noisy with window open. On our request we were moved to much quieter non-renovated rooms on the backside for the second night. Here the windows could be open. Also personally I like the big wooden desks in the old rooms better than the small modern desk in the renovated rooms. Overall my suggestion is to book a backside double room when staying here.

  Another solid stay at Santa Barbara

  The hotel Santa Barbara is a well oiled machine where most things go smoothly such check-in, check-out etc. Rooms somewhat dated but bed surprisingly good. The decor is very classic Italian red and green. A number of restaurants in the immediate neighborhood. Had another pleasant two night stay here for a business trip, towards Christmas 2025. Nice decorations.   The room was clean, and the room temperature was perfect which was automatically adjusted with air conditioner. the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel has a charming, vintage aesthetic but is very well-maintained. It's located in a quiet, safe area, not near Milan city centre, but just a 2-minute walk to several bus stations that connect to the Metro, with frequent service. By walk it took me 25 minutes to get to Metro station.The staff was extremely friendly, and the complimentary breakfast buffet was a highlight, featuring a variety of fruits, eggs, and proteins, along with an excellent selection of pastries and different coffee drinks.   Air conditioning didn't work and they knew about it

  Checked in in the afternoon.Very hot in the room.Turned A.C. on and left til 5:30,came back room was 25-28 degrees.Went to front desk to tell the person.He was very apologetic,the girl with him was speaking to him in Italian which I don't understand.What I do understand is that she was telling him to check the book,so they knew about it.No rooms available."It's going down to 20 tonight".I said,do you want me to sleep outside.Mosquitos are so bad right now in this area,you cant go out after 6:30.I said I'm not opening the windows,no problem, we'll bring you the mosquito zapper.WTF.Comes to my room while I'm chatting with my booking agent.Sorry sir,we cant find the zapper.I don't want a zapper.I'll talk to the manager,he said.we booked this room 2 months earlier,for 3 nights.We found a room,we just have to fix the lock.An hour later they said the room was ready2 complimentary drinks while we waited. Offered to change us the next day but I said I'm not moving again.Went down to talk to the manager the next morning,Sunday.Rocco at the front desk basically said,no problem,we found you a room.Git a free dinner and mini bar for 1 nt which we appreciated.The problem was putting us in that rm when they knew there was no A.C. Davide Sinibaldi, Direttore generale at Hotel Santa Barbara, responded to this review Dear Mr Welsh,We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you by the malfunctioning air conditioning (which was not known to us as you have described it several times) in the room number 324.When You reported at the reception (after almost 5 hours of staying in the room) we reacted immediately to find a solution whith the means we had available. The Hotel was fully booked but in, any case, we found a solution. We showed you a new room (double room) that was not immediately ready, so we invite you to have a drink in our bar for free.The day after you told us that the room was ok, you slept well and you didn't want to move. Every was solved.For this little inconvenient we offered also a full dinner for two and all the minibar for the first night.It's really amazing that despite this you complaint for a bad service!Besr regards

  Suite adds value over regular room

  We booked a regular room for day 1 and a suite for day 2 due to the hotel being fully booked. Fortunately we were upgraded to the suite also for the first day. Very convenient! The suite was old-fashioned but comfortable with coffee and tea facilities and a new air conditioner. The bed was very good - regrettably no power sockets close to the bed though. The hotel is a busy place, especially at breakfast but is operated quite well. Reception staff are experienced and very helpful. Local beers provided with simple aperitivo at the bar are interesting. Overall a good place to stay for a business trip.
