Avoid this hotel unless you want to punish yourself. Please Read

As 3 men who wanted a little trip to Milan we found this hotel. Seemed a good deal. Upon checking in we were told that we have been given “our best room” by the hotel receptionist. Very smiley and happy. This set out expectations a little too high I think! We walked into the room and discovered 3 small single beds. Ok no drama, we never booked the ritz. We discovered that the air conditioning was not working, no power to it at all. The receptionist told us that all the a/c in Milan was broken! I’m hoping something got lost in translation. I explained that a small room with no a/c and 3 men in it didn’t work for us and I was told “hopefully tomorrow will be a bit cooler” and I could have another room at full cost if I wanted. This annoyed me and by this time I was joined by 2 other guests with the same complaint from the previous day. The guy behind the counter (obviously flustered) told me to come back in 15 minutes. About 4 minutes later he was knocking on our door and the a/c now had power! Miracle huh? Well no because there was no cool air being produced. This resulted in us having to open the window. On a first floor room facing a noisy street this resulted in 2 nights of terrible sleep. I would avoid this hotel at all costs. I don’t mind cheap and cheerful, but not cheapish and torturous. I would guess that this air conditioning fiasco is a money saving venture by the hotel.

    Expensive and barely adequate

    rating18 Apr 2024

Expensive and barely adequate. Milan is very expensive so this seems a reasonable price but there are issues. The rooms are tiny, particularly the bathroom and shower. You will not fit if over 70kg! Room was cold and the room controls do nothing at all. Very busy road so extremely noisy especially at night. There is a room fridge and the TV has lots of channels but only 5 not in Italian. The breakfast is simple continental with no hot options and not very varied. The staff are friendly and do try to respond to issues. The breakfast lady was very pleasant and helpful. The positioning is good with easy walking/tram to the main sights. 20 mins walk from Cenacolo and 30 from Duomo. Tram 10 mins to NavigliI guess you get what you pay for?

    Horrible service - stay away

    rating21 Nov 2023

Hotel Sant'Ambroeus provided awful service. We made a reservation completely by accident and cancelled the reservation right away. It should have been simple for the hotel to give us our $300 back when we did not even stay in the country of Italy. Gene told me on the phone a refund would be no problem (and a booking.com rep was on the phone with us to hear it) but Tommaso emailed me refusing to give a refund. I wish this experience would have been different, but I assume they would treat every other guest unfairly so I do not recommend trying to stay at this hotel

Small old hotel near San Agostino

    rating24 Jun 2023

Small old hotel with quite a good location, just outside the busy city centre but quite accessible with a nearby metro station (San Agostino) and several bus and tramway stops nearby, and it's at a 20-minute walking distance to Castelo Sforzesco and 30-minute walking distance to Duomo. The hotel in itself has a 24/7 reception service, it's quite old and would benefit from a refurbishment. I stayed for 4 nights at a single room, which was as expected from a 3-star hotel, with a comfortable bed, and although the room size was adequate for 1 person, the bathroom was offered very little space with a tiny shower. Although it was during the busy season, I found that the hotel was quite overpriced (180 euros/night when I booked it) for the services they afford.

    Nothing special but generally good

    rating15 Apr 2022

The hotel has everything that you could except for such simple hotels. The customer service was really nice and the location was close to perfect. Very close to a park and a supermarket and also relatively close to the centrum without being to crowdy. The nights were a bit noisy though because of the traffic outside. The interior was a bit old but on the other hand that was also charming. The breakfast buffet was okay and recommendable because of the low price.
