Ancient palazzo in the heart of the historic district. Beautiful lobby. Notice the place needs a refresh of the paint and new furniture. Our room had a balcony and a hard mattress. Asked at the desk what could be done to put padding on mattress, receptionist Matteo upgraded us to a better room, room 232, which was bigger, had a view of the garden, and a more comfortable bed. Breakfast was in the basement which was filled with light from the garden. It is probably wonderful in the spring, summer, and fall, when you can sit outside. The choices we excellent, and you can order special eggs. Cappuccinos were excellent and included in the buffet.The lobby has an area with waters and fresh fruit. A nice touch. There is a lobby bar, but during this quiet winter time no one around. The lobby has some beautiful paintings and ceilings. Furniture could use a refresh to a more stylish type.The hotel has a beautiful garden in the back and in warm weather it must be great, quiet and private.Matteo at the front desk was great and a wonderful source of information and helped us plan a visit to a cheese factory. May at breakfast was cheerful and attentive.

Central hotel catering for all needs

Our stay at the Phi Hotel Canalgrande was relaxing and the friendly attitude of the staff greatly contributed to that feeling. The room was well equipped, spacious and the bathroom roomy and comfortable. Position is just right in the centre of the city and everything notable in Modena is within reach. Lots of restaurants, shops and facilities nearby. A bonus for the welcome corner and its refreshments always available and a real pleasure after a day out. Call well in advance should you need to reserve a parking lot in the hotel because the number of places available is limited!

We had 2 single rooms with Sorry floors and dirty panel at the end of the best. The staff was friendly and breakfast was Great.Anthow too expensive for the old and sleezy equipment.Room 139 e 260
