    Holiday from hell

    rating18 Jul 2025

Well where do I start........Ok so booked 10 days holiday still have 5 left currently in the hotel. Day 1 arrival. Late arrival was greeted at reception after being ripped of in a taxi for 220 euro....Got both rooms asked for them next 2 each other which our request was granted....Walked into rooms very dated nothing resembling 4 star more like budget Blackpool central bedsit....Didn't sleep knowing I'd made a huge mistake spending a lot of money for a family holiday. No balcony in a family room emailed to upgrade months earlier for the most comfort. Was willing to pay extra for comfort. On the website it say minibar available and not a bottle of water in the room triedbto leave the hotel for water and all the gates where locked. Alcatraz ie prison.Managed to get bottled water from reception after realising we can't leave.Sofabed with a filthy mattress for a 16 yr old and a 6 yr old.Me and husband in a twin bed pushed together with a 3 foot gap between. 22 yr old son next door in a double room which my 6 yr old spent the night.First morning heading down for complementary breakfast...Well hard stale bread with powdered eggs and a small selection of croissants no milk available for cereal lattes where ok and a selection of sweaty cheese and ham.....Later went to leave the hotel to realise you can't leave .on a dual carriageway with no way off leaving safely on foot.Went to reception about car hire to be given a quote 2 hrs later that it would cost 130 euro a day .I also asked reception about a room with a balcony and was told maybe next time....THERE WILL NOT BE A NEXT TIME.So I sourced online a hire through a broker and me and the husband got a taxi to collect the car. We arrived at axis car hire to be met with a very hostile man who I rowed with for an hour not to pay an excess of over 3 grand on a car I'd insured privately for 60 euro for 9 days . Was absolutely horrendous and ended up in tears.Eventually they took a extra credit card deposit of 200 a far stretch from the thousands they where asking. Evening of the first night after arrival we stayed around the bar and was very quiet no entertainment and was asked to leave the bar after closing at 10.30.We sat in the dark for a while heading to the room with no balcony and went to bed early. 3rd day spent the day afternoon by the pool where the pool police was on us every few minutes you can't splash you can have inflatables you can't have any sort of fun even though the place was quiet. Ordered food at the pool side bar thinking it would be as bad as the complementary breakfast of green eggs and ham and to my surprise it was tasty. Went to naples in the evening there was a wonderful lady behind the bar that was so kind lovely and gave us lots of information where to go what to do etc. So nice. She's been the saviour of this nightmare of a holiday. 4rd day we travelled to pompeii toured had a lovely day was very hot so got bk and dipped in the.pool where the pool police was again giving lots of rules to us but not to locals. 1 rule for 1 And none for anyone else. Didn't feel right we are a beautiful family of 5 which converse and blend well will all and especially on holidays. Had some lovely conversations with Italians English and French guests. Can't understand why this irish family where so discriminated against. We where eating a spot of lunch we had bought ourselves bread olives dips peaches and was asked to leave the area that food wasn't allowed on the sunbeds only for the family next to us order food and it to be delivered to there beds next to us and that was allowed although we where told we could not eat there. As we left the pool to change for the evening the shower in our family room wasn't working in fact was broken so my husband used our sons room to shower he stepped in the shower closed the door and the glass exploded leaving his feet cut and our son laying towels down to prevent further cuts i spent a few hours pulling glass from his feet. You couldn't make this stuff up.Day 5 we spent at the pool We had a lovely day swimming having fun with the children staying within all the rules which I think extra was made up just for us......Decided to have the al a carte menu for lunch which I have to say was delicious 😋 As we left the pool at closing we where asked to come to tonight's party 🥳. Well we arrived at party thinking hotel guests where welcome As the leaflet left in our room said free entrance and cocktail for hotel guests We arrived in the pool area and found a seat which we was later expelled from as it was reserved for paying non residents we were ushered into a corner where we were greated by cockroaches. We asked for our cocktail and 1 man on the bat said you need a ticket from reception. We went to reception for the ticket and was told to buy a drink first before you get a ticket which we already had at the bar .....2 peroni 1 red wine served on a plastic cup even though all the non resident guests had wine glasses a coke for my son and a redbull for my daughter. So no free cocktail as advertised in leaflet. We were directed to an area where there was no seating also where the cockroach met a gruely end with a size 10 foot near the toilet areaMy husband went to person in Charge about seating where we where directed to the pool side area near the bar where we were advised that a table was accessible .No such table was available which resulted in me my son and daughter leaving and heading bk to the room with no balcony and settle my young boy to sleep.MY husband and 22 yr old son stayed down at the bar feeling pushed out like they weren't welcome while I'm upstairs writing this review only half way through this hell of a holiday. Even gone to the extreme of booking another hotel for us all just to get away from here. What an absolute waste of hard earned cash. A total vile place with rude staff and an unfriendly environment which shadows the mount joy prison in Dublin.

    Avoid at all costs, genuinely.

Tired, old, dirty rooms and facilities.Very remote, situated on a motorway so no escape on foot Shuttle bus available, but only out at 11am and back at 6pm. Otherwise it's an expensive taxi to get out.Pool area is nice enough, but no floats or balls allowed in there for children to play with.Limited lunch menu poolside, table service given to day guests but not to us for some reason.Breakfast was really appalling, very limited choice. What was there was stale pastries, cold scrambled eggs or packaged biscuits and waffles. No cold milk for the one breakfast cereal option, no coffee or hot water for tea.Tables were always dirty, even with few guests staying.Breakfast staff(one young lady) was ignorant, rude, sour faced and too interested in her phone to be doing any work.Reception staff not much better, didn't want to really do any work either.I was kept waiting for 10 mins while I was trying to check out so she could talk casually to the owner, who was no more interested than she was. While I waited, a day guest came in and interrupted them to do his business ahead of me and they were happy to oblige.Upon checking out, no questions whether we enjoyed our stay or if everything was satisfactory.Let me be clear, that I did make an effort to ask for things on Italian, and really the only thing we asked for the entire time was to book the shuttle bus and to get cold milk/coffee at breakfast. You might have as well asked them to wipe your a** with their bare hands.Only two members of staff were polite to us the entire time we were there, one being the restaurant waitress and the supervisor at poolside during the day.Avoid at all costs, and save yourself the hassle. Stay more central in Pozzouli or Naples, it's not worth saving a few quid by staying here.

This is a 1 star hotel

    rating02 Mar 2025

Reception staff in the day really helpful, at night they don’t speak a word of English, which poor considering we booked through an English agent.Breakfast is terrible, small portion of COLD omelette, no milk for cereal and the members of staff was on her phone the whole time we sat there. The room was a good size, however the shower was terrible and there was a cockroach under my soap. It’s pretty remote so you either need a hire car (difficult to book), or find a reliable taxi. There was 6 of us so luckily we found a taxi who was pretty reasonable €30 each way (changed to €40 on the last day 🙄), and we could text him when ever we wanted which took the pressure off.In summary lower you expectations, it’s an ok base to explore Napoli (fairly close to the Metro train station), staff (apart from reception), are the reason places like this close (restaurant women still on her phone as I write this)!!!!Napoli was amazing, Sorrento was beautiful, the Agave hotel is not a good representation of what I have experienced through “love holidays”.Don’t let this hotel put you off Italy, 🇮🇹 most of the staff here just need replacing and it would be ok.

Fantastic getaway, value for the money!

    rating10 Jul 2024

Fantastic place. Tucked away on the hillside with maximum seclusion. Very clean, well maintained with a huge fantastic pool with a sitting alcove and large 2m deep swimming area, it's perfect for adults, not so much kids. It was above my 5'4" head for the main large pool but great for laps as it was barely used and the alcove was perfect at chest and shoulders deep for water aerobics or sitting and relaxing at the jets. Very romantic, hedges provide near complete seclusion from others. Beach loungers and umbrella for every guest. Towels as well. Bar next to it as well as dinner tables as well. Breakfast was in the lower level air conditioned room with hot and cold items. Eggs, salumi, bread, cereal, pastries galore, juices and an attendant who served hot drinks to order. Rooms were roomy, super clean with mini fridges. Comfy couch to laze in or a desk/chair in case you need to work. TV/AC walk-in shower in the classic room which was very economical. I'd recommend a weekend or better yet weekday get away taking advantage of their offers, currently at 118€ for two days per couple. We were guests of a large out if town wedding and the location was perfect in Pozzuoli. It was a bit disheartening at first, located behind a Tangenziale gas station but once you entered through the easy access road up the little hill it was like stepping into paradise with green grounds, flowers and a fancy friendly reception. Rooms on three levels, parking on ground level, reception on 1st level, breakfast in between, pool and lounge area on upper level. No great views of the sea but barely heard the Tangenziale even though our room was probably closest to it. I give it five stars for a probably a three star hotel based on value for money, peace of mind and convenience!
