Three wonderful nights at Casa Tolentino

    rating14 Oct 2019

With a spacious room and ample, delicious breakfast, we very much enjoyed this retreat every day after scurrying about Naples absorbing the cultural attractions of the city. Hearing the choral music in one of the halls as soon as entered the casa reminded us of the ambiance of a monastery, which, in fact, it is. It was a short walk to the opera house, to the harbor boats to Capri and other islands. Also, being located on the central funicular line, it compelled and enabled us to go to top of one of the most prominent hills in Naples to explore other neighborhoods. Via Toledo is at the bottom-most station of the funiculare.Service was fine and timely. An extra bonus is that it is not just a casa but an ongoing monastery with priests that we did not have to see for any confessions. The scenery from the garden, where some people had breakfast was outstanding, being able to see Capri, Sorrento, and to be sure other parts of the city in all directions.

To summarise Casa Tolentino is hard. It is home from home, warm, enthusiastic people, fntastic location.

This time (because it is not our first time!) we had a room with garden view and partially the sea. Quiet, big, airy. We loved the added outdoor breakfast area: viewing the sea and Ischia while having breakfast is something else! But I would say that their biggest asset is the people who run it: they are friends and you can see that! They are passionate and it transpires. They love their city and their close areas and they have taught us to love them too. This is the third time in 4 years that we are back. We'll be back again. Grazie a tutti, ragazzi!

    Fantastic views!

We were a group of 3 travelling around Naples. We really enjoyed our stay here as it was a very unique hotel. It has beautiful gardens which we could sit in at breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious, well lit and clean. The only downside is that it is hard to explain the location to taxi drivers but once you know your way around the area it’s no problem. It can also be tricky if you have large or many suitcases as there are a fair few steps to climb up.

We loved our week staying at Casa Tolentino

The rooms are on 2 floors of a monastery building and are a fantastic option for travellers. Our room had a wonderful view over the Bay of Naples and was a comfortable size with en-suite toilet/shower room. The gardens are a wonderful place to sit and are a serene space not far from the bustle of the city. There is a chapel for reflection and also a fully functioning church downstairs (by separate entrance). We found the location excellent - a pleasant walk to Chiaia and all its bars and restaurants. The Funiclare stop is only a few minutes away also. We used fixed price taxi to and from the airport for transfer - number provided by the staff. The team who run Casa Tolentino are very helpful and friendly. We felt at home and would love to return. One small thing to note is that there are a lot of steps in general as the house is up a hill - so it might not be suitable for people with mobility issues.

    The friendliest place

The team of young people running this Bed & Breakfast were the nicest and most helpful people you could meet. Only stayed the one night in September with my wife, my sister and her husband but we could have stayed for a week. The En-Suite Rooms are very clean and well presented with all the essentials. Although we checked out in the morning they took care of our luggage while we went up Vesuvius, and when we got back at 5pm allowed us to sit in the beautiful gardens and drink ice cold beer before going to the airport at 7pm.We would love to go back and stay in this oasis above the hustle and bustle and explore Naples.Yes it is not the easiest place to find, and there are mosquitoes, but where aren't there! Definitely recommend it.
