    Stellar experience at the Stelle!

    We’ve just returned from our best holiday in years after staying at the Stelle hotel, a great base located near the central bus and rail terminus giving options on exploration of Naples and further afield.The room was comfortably equipped, cleaned daily, including the provision of fresh towels. The breakfast provided was wide ranging and very filling.We’d like to thank Dario, who first greeted us at reception, his desk colleagues, the staff in the breakfast room and all the cleaning staff. Were we to return, we’d happily stay at the Stelle hotel again.

    Adjacent to Napoli Centrale railway station and connected to it by a passage direct from the hotel, the Stelle is ideal for transport as all railway lines, metros, buses and taxis are a few hundred metres away. Despite it being next to the station, it's on a quiet street and the hotel is not noisy. It's about a 15-20 minute walk into the historic centre but there are 2 metro lines that take you there for just over a euro. There are loads of restaurants around the station, including a nice family place across the road called Ieri, Oggi e Domani (ask at reception for advice on other places).We received a very warm welcome at reception and the three staff we met over the weekend were all very helpful. Bedrooms are large, clean and well equipped. It's not really a 4 star hotel as it doesn't scream luxury but we would happily recommend it for a great place for a break in Naples.Breakfast was a buffet, pretty basic but decent enough. Very good for guests who like cakes, pastries and sweet things but not that much choice of meats, cheese and cooked food. Plenty to fill you up though!Naples is a great city with loads of museums, bars, restaurants, cafes and a palpable sense of history. It's very rough and ready and just a bit mad but as long as you don't mind graffiti covered walls, narrow streets and suicidal taxi drivers, you'll enjoy yourself. Despite a reputation for being dangerous, we never felt nervous even late at night and Neapolitans (when they stop talking) are pretty friendly. And Herculaneum and Pompeii are around 30 mins away by train if you fancy an excursion.

    My wife and I got off to rocky start due to the inhospitable nature of the front desk woman. Not sure of her name but has short dark black hair. Name might start with a J. Not the best representation for a front desk person. I would not recommend dining in the restaurant attached to the lobby.

    We stayed at this hotel on two separate nights within the same week only because of its convenient location near the train station. Unfortunately, both stays were extremely disappointing, and I would rate this hotel 1* at best-not the 4 * it claims to have.The First room we stayed was purely maintained. Towels were stained and even ripped, the toilet wasn't properly cleaned.Worse still, we accidentally left a pair of sneakers behind in the room. When we told the hotel front desk while our 2nd stay, we were told that nothing had been found-which we find very hard to believe. It left a bed impression and felt unprofessional. And secondly, our second stay was even worse.   Disability-accessible room looked and felt disgusting- everything seemed dirty and poorly kept.It honestly felt more like a rundown motel than 4* hotel. We were so uncomfortable that we couldn't wait to check out by 4:30 am.Overall, this was a terrible experience. We absolutely would not return. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting comfort, cleanliness and trustworthy service.
