So bad we came home early. Felt unwelcome and discriminated against.

    rating19 Apr 2026

This hotel has a great location and the website promised that " all rooms have a sea view". I booked through On The Beach.co.uk. The hotel voucher stated "standard room with window". Our room was meant to be a twin (for a mother and daughter), but we had only a double. Our room had a window, but faced a wall, the hillside and an air-conditioning unit. You could not see the sky. Surely this was the worst room in the hotel. There was only one set of towels for two people. The toilet did not flush properly, the shower head would not stay at height on the riser. I complained and was told there were no other rooms. The second set of towels were promised "subito" - straight away; they never appeared. In the end, after many tears, we paid an extra 15Euros a night for a room upgrade. This room was better, but was in direct line of the ongoing outside pool/bar music and entertainment (10am-11pm) which was disruptive and meant we could not use the balcony in the evening for quiet relaxation. I was made to pay before I could have anything extra, nothing was ever billed to the room, which made me feel like they were judging me for not being able to pay. My request for a laundry rack was also ignored. I felt judged and unwelcome. The reception team were all smiles but no service. The restaurant food was patchy. Some nights the meals were ok, others they were quite awful. The bread was bad tourist bread rolls and toast. Surely local bread is not that expensive? The coffee was also very, very poor. The staff worked every meal in the restaurant. No-one cared. No pride. So disappointing; Sardinia is beautiful and this hotel does it a disservice. The best thing here was the sunsets; probably because they're not managed by the staff here.

    Great location, terrible food

    rating10 Apr 2026

Don't book All Inclusive or Half Board for your own sanity. The most beautifully situated hotel with a spectacular sunset and the worst food quality imaginable. The food was cold, served by grumpy waiters who worked from dawn to dusk, so I understand they have every right to be tired. The food was absolutely shocking. I don't even mean that it was the same every day, although that's exactly what it was. Everything was cold, and there was no meat at all for dinner. The pasta was cold from the very beginning of service, and the scrambled eggs were watery, as if they'd just come out of the shower. The cereal bowls were the size of a tea saucer, which was absolutely shocking, not even funny. The way food was prepared and served was utterly embarrassing. The toilet in our room didn't work all week, and despite reporting the problem at reception, it wasn't fixed. We had to search for available toilets throughout the entire hotel for a whole week, which is absolutely shocking for a family with a child. The hotel has potential, but unfortunately, the way it's managed is a disgrace. I won't even comment on the taste and quality of the "coffee" because I don't know if you can stoop any lower, especially when you know you're visiting a country where coffee is a religion. Juices, beer, wine, everything is diluted with water and tastes like water.

The good, the bad and the expensive

    rating29 Oct 2025

We went with easyjet on a half board basis. Not recommended. There are no facilities in the room so you have to bring your own kettle, water and drinks. You can get these from the bar but are a little expensive. You do get drinks with your meals though. We were there at the end of the season and although you could help yourself to most things the main meal items were served to us. It is a mediterranean diet which suited us but if you are expecting burgers and chips etc this is not the place for you. The resort is not in Castelsardo but a couple of miles out. You cannot access Castelsardo walking down the road as there are no footpaths and you have to access by car or down a pretty hazardous track which is used by scramble bikes. They do run a shuttle bus and while we were there it only left at 10.30 and cost 12euros each for a return journey. You really need to budget for hiring a car which you can do in reception at 60 euros per day. Again very expensive but if you want to cover the 2,500 euro excess then that's another 20 euros, so in total 80 euros a day. So onto Wifi this is 2 euros per day per devise so would highly recommend getting an e sim if you are not covered by your phone company for roaming. Take an extra towel for the sun beds. This is a 10 euro deposit with a 2 euro a day charge. In the Welcome pack are there a list of 'do nots' so you feel a bit that you are back in school. Easyjet do not tell you that if you have any mobility issues this is not the hotel for you. Its built on the side of a hill and if you book the easy jet sea view there is 8 sets of stairs, 3 slopes and over 100 stairs to get to the restaurant for your food. The room was also very beige. The view from the room is amazing but you do not get any sun on your balcony. If you are a keen hiker with a good pair of walking boots and set of sticks and love a well balanced healthy diet this is so the hotel for you. But please budget for all the extra's that you will encounter. KBR Kiwi Beach Resorts, Albergatore at Castelsardo Resort, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We would like to clarify that all the services available in our rooms are clearly specified on our official channels before booking, so that every guest can check in advance what is included. We would also like to emphasize that our cuisine is inspired by Mediterranean and Sardinian traditions, offering genuine dishes made with local ingredients. Being in Sardinia, we do not consider it necessary to serve hamburgers and chips — those who choose to stay in Italy usually do so to discover and enjoy the local cuisine. The location of our property is always clearly indicated on our platforms, and we recommend checking this information before booking a stay in a place that one is not familiar with. Finally, all information regarding the shuttle service, parking, Wi-Fi, and any additional costs is clearly stated in our official communications. If some of these details were not provided accurately by external channels or travel intermediaries, we are sorry, but this is beyond our control. In such cases, we always recommend contacting the booking platform directly for clarification. We still hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future.
