Good Value, but Lacking in Service and Location

    rating08 Jul 2025

The Rooms:Spacious apartment-style rooms with two bedrooms, each with its own balcony. The room included a drying rack, TV, air conditioning, shampoo, soap, and a fridge. The resort is large, so finding my room on the first day was a bit confusing. The Staff:Reception was very helpful, especially one woman who spoke excellent English. The entertainment team was energetic and friendly. Restaurant staff were generally nice, but the head waiter (in a black shirt) was quite rude, which put me off. I paid €25 for dinner the first night but didn’t return due to the unfriendly service. The Resort:There’s a huge pool with a bar and lots of sun loungers. The volleyball court had a hose to cool the sand, which was a nice touch. The tennis courts didn’t seem to be used. The Beach:A shuttle takes you part of the way, then it’s a 10-minute walk. The beach is beautiful with soft stones, but there wasn’t much to do. The waves were too strong to swim during my visit, and lifeguards asked us to stay out of the water.Accessibility:Not ideal if you want to explore nearby towns. A taxi costs around €70, and walking would take 2–3 hours. Conclusion:I enjoyed my stay for a short break, but I wouldn’t stay longer than three days. It was good value for money and very clean, but I wouldn’t return Direzione Club Esse, Vendite at Club Esse Gallura, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to write to us. Not good

    rating09 Sept 2024

Ok let’s start with this caveat: this place was a 2 star for us, but I can see how others would rate it higher. It’s for a specific type of traveler which we didn’t know when booking it.Let's start with pros:-Because this place is HUGE, it had space to accommodate us last minute. We booked about an hour before on an evening when most places were fully booked. We though “well, it’s just a place to sleep for the night , let’s do it”.- for the price, the accommodations (at least the one we were placed in) was huge. Only two of us but two bedrooms, a closet area, bathroom, big closet space, and big balcony where in the morning you can see the ocean.- clean/the rooms were physically very clean- location: if you have a car- this place is within 30-40 minutes of some of the most amazing beaches in Sardinia. Venture out!- the staff at breakfast and reception were very nice! I wasn’t feeling well from lack of sleep and they let us check out an hour later. Thank you!Cons - this is where they lost the stars for me.- this place has 250 rooms and when I tell you it’s packed, it is PACKED (at least in the summer). This place clearly requires a lot of staff to maintain so I’m assuming it’s expensive to maintain but it has SO much potential. This place reminds me of the adult dummer camp in the movie dirty dancing. A place families come with their friends that also have kids, and where all the adults hang out together and their kids venture off to hang out together without adult supervision. We were joking that this is the kind of place that you get your first kiss as a kid or teenager, in the dark corner of the tennis court while your parents are lounging and hanging out by the pool. So it’s packed to the brim with kids and teenagers. There is entertainment that goes late into the night and kept us awake because the windows are not very soundproof. For many- the entertainment and tons of people would be a plus, for us it wasn’t. The amenities we didn’t use. More for families with kids than for couples.- the smell in the room and the beds. Even though I could tell the place was physically clean- it had a musty smell that wouldn’t go away.- I can’t understate this enough: this was the worst sleep of my life. I had dreams about my legs and back being in pain that night- and the pain actually woke me up multiple times throughout the night. Italian hotels aren’t known for their mattresses, but these ones take the cake. I might as well have slept on the floor. Please, for the love of god - invest in mattress toppers or new mattresses. This turned out to be not just a place to sleep for the night, but a place to have a restless painful sleep. Teenagers won’t care about this, but adults do.- lastly - the breakfast. It was not good - simple as that. The coffee wasn’t even decent. We’ve eaten a lot of free b&b breakfasts and they are usually at the minimum decent. This one was not. I couldn’t stomach the eggs or beans (again very summer camp esque).-lastly (and again for some people with teenagers who are constantly on their phones- this would be a plus one-star) but for us - no WiFi in the rooms was a huge bummer. Especially since we are traveling exclusively with WiFi and no cellular /SIM card.To wrap up, this place is great for Italian families with kids and teenagers looking to hang out with their other family friends. Not a place for couples who want to rest. If this place just invested in mattresses that are comfortable - it would have been 4 stars. But the horrible sleep killed it for me. Direzione Club Esse, Vendite at Club Esse Gallura, responded to this review Dear Brianna, thank you for choosing Club Esse. We are always happy to discuss with those who decide to spend time in our company, our continuous work to implement our skills, always starts by studying in depth the contributions of our guests. We only have one small comment to make on your arguments. From what you write, it almost seems that the stars that determine the category of a Resort, depend on the judgment of some expert, or perhaps on a popular jury, or on the scripts of the very popular pseudo-reality shows, which provide entertainment by embroidering interesting stories in the world of hotels and restaurants. However, this does not correspond to the reality of the facts, or at least not beyond all that, which cannot be enclosed within the narrow limits of infotainment. It is the services offered that determine what the category of a Resort is. Nothing to do with the stars of the Michelin guide, to provide an example that concerns the cuisine and the Chefs. As for a hypothetical popular opinion, Google is a good example, collecting a large amount of data, even if what is written is not verified by the same company that offers the service. What might make you smile in all this is that our average on Google is almost four stars out of five, with some slight inflections in positive or negative, depending on the amount of content received in a given period of time. We apologize to you for our long response, and we hope to have the opportunity in the future to completely overturn your point of view. The Club Esse Resorts have different characteristics, what you have not found here, you can find in the pages of the Club Esse catalog on clubesse.it. Best regards.

This is a 2 star hotel at best

    rating26 Jun 2021

No facilities worth mentioning apart from the pool.Good level of cleanliness and most staff are friendly though not at all helpful, I've never been told no so many times in a hotel ever, and all I'm asking for is things like a coffee past 10am or a coca cola in the night (not room service as this is non existent anyway, just trying to buy one I can literally see with my eyes and still being told no)Final straw for me was the hotel making you leave your bag at the entrance at dinner like I'm in some hostel in Cambodia. I wonder if they are taking responsibility for anything that goes missing, my guess is no.WIFI IS A LIE THERE IS NO WIFI OR 3G ON YOUR PHONE All in all a thoroughly bog standard experience akin to a hostel or 2 start establishment.I would hazard a guess that literally every hotel on the island is nicer than this.TV in room doesnt workAnd this beach village hotel is a 20 minute rocky walk to the beach including a descent down a cliff basically!! DirezioneClubEsse, Sales at Club Esse Gallura, responded to this review Dear Guest, Club Esse thanks you for choosing to spend your holidays with us and sharing your personal point of view. We always welcome the opinion of our beloved guests with great gratitude, whatever nature it is, it is always examined with great attention to transform it into an essential work tool. In the large amount of stories that allow us to compare ourselves with the experiences lived by those who spend time with us, alongside an absolute majority of those who rewards us with great enthusiasm and satisfaction, by the law of large numbers we will always discover someone who thinks about it. otherwise. The objectivity of the judgment will therefore be entrusted to the statistic that rewards us, but all our commitment will instead be aimed at finding the best suggestions in every experience to continue improving ourselves day by day. We greet you cordially and sincerely. See you soon.
