    Club Esse Shardana - Never a 4 star!

    First things first! I want to be crystal clear! This is never, ever a 4 star hotel! Our entire holiday was one calamity after another! We arrived at the hotel at 12.30pm and were not able to get our room till near 3pm. I would understand this had we arrived in the wee, small hours, but this was not the case. Our room was small, extremely dated and cramped, and we were welcomed by a colony of ants crawling all over the floor. In addition to this, there was no phone to call reception, no instructions for the safe or air conditioning and no WiFi. The official line was that WiFi was only available in the reception area, but even there it was patchy and unreliable. Storage space was minimal. At one point, I wanted to use cash in the bar and was told I could not do so; curious, I asked why (for the record, I speak Italian fairly well!) and the response I got was a rude shrug of the shoulders. With only a few exceptions, the staff were, at best, indifferent and collectively unhelpful, and, at worst, unprofessional and extremely rude. The bar/entertainment manager, Marco, might be better suited pursuing a career as a prison warden, as he is entirely unsuitable to hospitality. We were bed and breakfast only, and the food was OK, if a little limited. However, again, the management of the restaurant itself was deplorable. At one point, we were ORDERED, not asked, to leave a table as it was 'reserved' (no idea how tables could be reserved?). When we moved to a nearby table, we were practically frog-marched away from it as it seated four and there was only two of us. This all took place in a near deserted restaurant at 7.30am! The toilet in our room got blocked and there was absolutely no rush to repair it; the problem was reported at 2pm and still not repaired by 7pm. At the time of the holiday, I was recovering from major surgery and was looking forward to a relaxing experience. Finally, the 'entertainment' was dire! It consisted of two French teenagers dancing with their friends! Nothing more, nothing less! My stay at the Club Esse Shardana was fraught with problems, stress and anxiety. So much for a relaxing recuperation! ........ Does anyone know the Italian for 'Faulty Towers'?!!!     Does not match a 4-star club hotel, the only asset of this property is its location. Accommodation is dated, bathroom is really poor and way to small. Quality of breakfast is below of 4 star expectations. Not recommended!     Start with the good: Hotel was niceCustomer service was nice, cleaners were on point everydayFood was ok, breakfast was basic and lunch was surprisingly nice with freshly cooked pizza at the buffetThe pool was niceThe rooftop was niceNot so good: The pictures of the rooms was not what you can expect, the room will be tiny, there will be no window facing the sea and no balcony like in the pictures.     Mouldy curtains with bugs

    The curtains were covered in mould and bugs, we had no plug sockets in our room as were broken and not enough.The breakfast was not appetising at all, the staff were not helpful and didn’t want to accommodate us Direzione Club Esse, Vendite at Club Esse Shardana, responded to this review Dear Ginger Sophie, thank you for choosing Club Esse.
