Unwelcome experience by rude individual at Reception

    rating23 May 2025

The only rude person we met in 6 days in Sardinia was working on the Reception desk in this hotel. it may have been due to his lack of English (had 2 or 3 phrases) and our lack of Italian. Nothing was explained to us at check in. We tried to explain we were half board he shook his head. When we phoned from our room to reception we were answered with 'one moment please' and then disconnected. Eventually we went to reception to ask about the air conditioning because the control panel on the wall wasn't working. 'One moment please', he then proceeded to observe a busload of tourists arrive and be checked in by their guide while we stood there. Again we commented about the air conditioning and we were told 'one moment please' he then opened a cupboard flicked on a switch with our room number and handed us a remote control. A further phone call to reception was met with 'one moment please' then he appeared at the door while we were still holding on. He marched into the room and flicked a switch on the headboard saying 'On/Off!'Every other member of staff was pleasant and we worked around limited language abilities in a pleasant way. At check out a different man was at reception and was pleasant and apologetic for his colleagues unwelcoming and rude behaviour. Brunella Seghenzi, Direttore generale at Hotel Grazia Deledda, responded to this review Dear Sir./M.me,first of all thank you for staying in our hotel and for your feedback. We are sorry about the "wellcome" you had, unfortunately the receptionist on duty was not able to speak english, and we know that's not the best for a hotel. We ar sorry about it, we need for sure to train our member of the staff as soon as possible.Best regards

Painfully bad and far from 4 stars

    rating15 May 2025

I don’t know why this hotel is rating itself 4 stars. The room is old and decorated with stuffy furniture, that deserves no more than 2-3 stars. There were only the very basic bathroom amenities, that you expect at 3 stars, but there were not even cotton buds. There was a balcony, but no chairs, so you could enjoy using it. The building is also quite ugly looking from the outside. The lobby is pleasant looking though. The location is a bit far from the old town and city centre, but within a walkable distance. One of the elevators was out of use on arrival and it seemed that was no rush in fixing it. The other elevator was working, but was unreliable and paused between stories for ages and then during our stay it stopped working completely and eventually became out of use too. The breakfast selection could have been better, and the selection was not very varied for a 4-star hotel, there were no tomatoes, cucumbers or lettuce. One of the breakfast staff women gave a very sour face every morning and coffee service was slow. The TV was out of use on our arrival, luckily it was repaired the next day. The wi-fi kept interrupting every now and then and required us to login again, which was frustrating. The cleaning lady was sweet. There was only a thin sheet and we had to use an extra blanket to avoid freezing at night. Not very good linen for a 4-star hotel. There were two cold and sour men at the reception. One of them flashed a very forced-looking smile/grin on our arrival. Another one gave us unprecedentedly a speech with a very passive-aggressive tone about how he wants to inform us that the key would be better left at the reception when we go out. We had also never been informed on arrival, that the key should be left at the reception when going out. The only time a receptionist was pleasant towards us, was when we checked out and he rushed to get us a taxi. Brunella Seghenzi, Direttore generale at Hotel Grazia Deledda, responded to this review Dear Sir/M.me,we apologize for not having met your expectations, this is in fact our main objective. We are certainly dissatisfied with the welcome given to you by our staff, it's unforgivable and we will do our best to improve the situation. We hope however that your holiday was pleasant and to see you again in future. Kind regards.

    If you have to…..

    rating05 Nov 2021

So there are limited hotel options in Sassari, but there is NO WAY this is a four star (self-described) hotel. I had a suite and it wasn’t all that sweet. The room is dated, except for the bathroom which is nice, but terrible towels—rough and over-used. The staff was very friendly and the room was pretty clean. Free parking is nice but €150?!?! In November? Come on man. We stayed at a hotel called the Doglio in Cagliari for €25 more a night and the difference is indescribable. Oh and the toilet paper was in a dispenser, one sheet at a time.

    Regenerating weekend in Sassari

    rating11 Oct 2020

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Grazia Deledda and we had a great time. The room was as descripted: comfy, spacious and clean. Breakfast was included in our booking and to be fair, I don't understand those negative feedback. There was plenty of choice, from pastries to cakes, from yoghurts to fresh fruit with options for those who like savoury breakfast. The hotel is a stroll from the historical centre and the famous Piazza d'Italia, one of the most beautiful city squares in Italy. A special mention to the staff, all were helpful and efficient.
