  A wonderful holiday

  We stayed for 2 weeks at the Rina on a half board basis and we have had a wonderful holiday. The hotel is very clean, airy, and our room was very nicely furnished with a nice little balcony and a sea view and a view of the medieval city of Alghero. We were on the fourth floor. The staff on reception were all very friendly and helpful and made us feel very comfortable. All the staff were friendly. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and the evening meals. The meals were Italian style with an antipasti buffet then a primo and a secondo then a choice of desserts. We had lots of variety and lots of nice food, with an occasional dish which we did not like, but we had a lot more good meals than bad ones. Andrea the restaurant manager was very welcoming, kind and thoughtful and made our stay extra special. I am missing the cappuccino coffees which he brought over to us every morning at breakfast.The hotel is in a great location, we loved the walks on the promenade to the old town. You have the best of both worlds, a beach holiday and a beautiful city all very nearby.It is also near to bus stops and the railway station where you can take the train to Sassari which has lots of interesting museums and medieval buildings. If we return to Alghero we will definitely stay at the Rina Hotel and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

  We had a great 2-week holiday. On arrival, we were told we’d been upgraded to a “balcony” room, but most rooms have them so it wasn’t a big change. Rooms are small with very limited shower space, but clean and tidied daily. Breakfast is continental and, if arriving late (30-45 minutes before end) food isn’t restocked. The pool area is spotless, with a lifeguard from 9–12:30 and 3–7, though his loud phone volume was a bit disruptive. Lunch (advertised 12:30–13:45) was overpriced and stopped early at 13:15. The “specials” never changed always being gnocchi or chicken skewers with potatoes. Staff, especially reception, were very helpful, and the location is excellent, supermarket, restaurant, and gelato nearby. Maria Pia beach (15 min walk) is nicer than the local one. The beach bus is good but can be late or full however they send a second one moments after it. The airport bus left us waiting 40 minutes, so go early. Overall, I’d recommend this hotel despite a few small drawbacks.

  Good location, friendly staff, average breakfast. However, so many things could have made my stay more enjoyable.Missing at this hotel:1. Gym2. Coffee and/or tea making equipment in the room3. Iron and board (not available at the hotel)4. Bathrobes5. Towels at the poolIf I ever return to Alghero, I will certainly explore other options.

  Disastrous first day and evening.

  So, booked a Jet2 holiday in Alghero, but was flown to Olbia which is 1.5+ hours away. Not the best start to a holiday.. Especially after the uk airport travel and 4 hours at airport. Followed by a flight .I am writing this on my first day. I arrive 2.45pm and have to wait till 4.05 pm for room to be ready. Despite a 1 am start to my day .I was shattered......The 4th floor sea view is a window and a distant view. I asked to be moved for a balcony room. Moved to 3rd floor with balcony., Had a short sleep but woken by noisey guests in corridor.. Then went for a shower and the bathroom and corridor outside the room was flooded. Possibly a blocked drain ? That's what you call a wet room !!!.So. packed belongings again and back to the 4th floor. Not good.You pay for every drink, even water. No iron or ironing table....no kettle in room....you get very little . Unless you have paid for half board then you get evening food, but pay for any liquids. The tv remote batteries were dead , and there are no English channels what so ever. Hoping for Euro news at least.Then I had to borrow 3 pin plug from reception to charge phone. What I will say is that the buffet and cooked evening meal was very nice.Top marks.Intended to go for an evening stroll to town centre and got horribly lost. Took the wrong left. Don't get lost in this maze of streets in the evening.Ir can only get better. Surely.

  **Horrible Experience** Not a 4 Star please read my review!!

  Where do I start, I booked a two bedroom apartment for myself and family. When we arrived at the hotel I was told they don’t have any two bedroom apartments! When we got to the room all I can say is that it was filthy. A kitchen that had a sink microwave, hob and fridge no tea or coffee making facilities. The bathroom was disgusting. The shower was full of grime and the first day we got there my family member got into the shower and it broke and fell on them. Every time we have a shower the shower head didn’t fit in the holder so it was would swing around the shower, also every time we had shower it was soak the whole bathroom. The mattress are only fit for the skip they were appalling. Our room wasn’t cleaned any day. The bed linen wasn’t changed at all thought the 7 nights stay. The cleaner barely empty the bins and gave us fresh towels. We had to go to the super market to get our own cleaning products to wash the dishes there wasn’t even a cloth or tea towel! I could continue with the review but I think should be enough to deter people from booking this hotel! It’s supposedly a four star it’s not even a two star! Horrible experience after saving hard to book this holiday!!
