Stunning Spot, shortfalls on services , untapped potential

    rating22 Aug 2023

The good The place is amazing, just outside Alghero immersed in a sea of olives trees. The staff at reception is nice and efficent. is soo nice and calm and a perfect base to be. The not so goodInternet does not really work within the villas only on the rooftop Maintenance upkeep of the Villas is poor, light not working, TV from mid nineties, forniture very old , bed crancky and unconfortable, overall kitchen amenities are all there, but mix and matched. Linen , Bedding and other basic are just not up to par.The house has 2 fireplace with grill and instead to provide with packages to use it,they charge you for clean it, not a very service oriented mentality. Garden forniture mix and macth from 3 differenyt era, its like going in holiday into your grandmother home in anice place far away from any convinience.Overall the stay was great is just that it leaves a bitter taste to see so much untapped potential, expecially on basic like bed confort and resort services. The other side of development are private villa which are a great example on how much better the 'resort" could be.

    Pleasant stay at Vista Blu

    rating20 Aug 2023

The residence location is perfect, just 5 minutes form Alghero city centre, and with a view on the sea. The accomodations are very spacious and have all that is needed. Allthough sanitair and kitchen can use a renovation and upgrade soon. The swimmingpool is fine.

Nice stay, but houses maintenance is needed

    rating29 Jun 2023

We had a nice stay at the vista blu resort but the houses definitely require maintenance: windows not closing, bathroom door not closing, paint scraping off the walls, parts of the kitchen broken. These houses would be really beautiful if the company would invest in fixing these issues. The area of the swimming pool is nice with a beautiful view and the staff was super friendly and tried to help us with our requests when we pointed out the list of things not working (unfortunately they couldn't do much as these things require maintenance work).

Great stay in mid-June at Vista Blu Resort.

    rating22 Jun 2023

We (husband and wife in early 70's plus adult daughter) enjoyed a very pleasant week's stay in spacious and airy two-bed, two-bathroom, well-decorated apartment. Resort is stylishly designed with single-storey buildings in quiet location only five minutes drive east of Alghero. Everything clean and working. Good outdoor space. Super quiet aircon (though apartment stayed cool most of the time without it). Beds comfortable if mattresses and pillows a bit hard. Plenty of storage space for clothes and stuff but lacking in one bathroom. Kitchenette excellent but hard to reach top cupboards unless very tall! Ladies on reception extremely welcoming and helpful. Site well maintained and bins emptied every day. Beautiful large pool.Minor observations ......Outside of apartment needed a lick of paint. Could do with another sofa in lounge so four adults can relax together. Another wall light needed in lounge on opposite side of chimney breast to aid reading once it's dark. Need wi-fi in apartment, not just in pool area, please! Need somewhere to put shower gel/soap/shampoo in shower cubicle. Kettle should be provided free-of charge!

A special place to base yourself for a stunning holiday in Alghero

    rating20 Jun 2023

This is a fantastic self-catering base for a great stay in Sardinia. The location is only an eight minute drive from the main old city, but due to it's position up a hillside, you feel you are in a peaceful, mountain resort. We stayed in the largest of the villas, an 8-person, three bedroom one. The main bedroom was spacious with a reasonably comfortable king-size bed, the second bedroom had twin beds, and the third room a single bed that can be converted to a small double. The main sitting room had a convertable sofa bed but we left it as a couch. The beds in the other rooms were not the most comfortable according those who slept in them, but the main bedroom was fine.We paid extra in advance for a microwave and a kettle. The kitchen is small, and the crockery is limited (we bought a couple of wine glasses ourselves rather than using the small glasses that were available) but it contains most of what you would expect in a self-catering home. You'll need to bring your own tea towels and there was no oven glove to handle hot dishes so we bought one of those aswell. Each villa has a great, charcoal-burning barbecue on the patio.I had been a bit concerned before we left, having read some of the reviews here, but I needn't have worried. The villa was spotlessly clean. If you are arriving late at night make sure you contact the very helpful team at reception a number of days before so that they can make arrangements for you to get the key etc. The ladies at reception are very friendly and helpful with suggestions for beaches and restaurants and anything we asked for was dealt with immediately. The resort has a small pool, with a stunning view overlooking olive groves and the Alghero bay that was perfect for a quiet dip. There is a lifeguard on duty for some time during the day - he was a really nice guy, and you can also buy icecream, snacks and a drink from his small cabin too if you are too lazy to go back to your fridge in your villa 😉.You must have your own transport to stay here - it is outside any public transport links. There are bikes available to hire on site, but we didn't fancy cycling on the narrow winding roads / hills. There are three different supermarkets a kilometre from the villas - MD, EuroSpin and Iper Nonna - in a small retail park, and there's a Lidl another kilometer further away too, so there should be no problem getting supplies. We were there in early June and it was really quiet in the evenings. Sitting in the porch, or even better on the roof terrace, watching the sunset and listening to the birds singing was a highlight ... maybe it gets busier/noisier in the peak summer, but we found it incredibly peaceful and restful. Our villa had a basement with a washing machine and ironing board. There was a hairdryer too. TV was showing standard Italian free to air channels, but it had a HDMI port if you wanted to connect up something else to it.We absolutely loved our stay and would love to come back again sometime. It's not a good fit for everyone - if you want to walk to a bar or restaurant there's nothing close by, but you can always get a taxi in and out of Alghero if you want to eat out and not take the car.
