    Magical wedding weekend

    rating12 Oct 2025

The most wonderful and magical castle to celebrate our daughter’s wedding. Everything was perfect. So much delicious food. The staff worked so hard and always with a smile- they seemed genuinely happy to make a perfect weekend. The rooms were beautiful and tastefully decorated with modern bathrooms. The location was perfect surrounded by hillsides and the evening light over the trees was dreamy. Amazing value for money- a wedding like this in the UK would have been at least double the cost. Thank you for everything. The tower suite was magical

    rating06 Oct 2025

The tower suite was everything advertised (would be a great place for an engagement, honeymoon or anniversary). Food was great. For English speaking only there was some times a struggle, but they always find a way to communicate. The parking area is a bit of a walk so should be sure to drive up. It's also off the beaten path, so for services not on the property you will need to drive in to town. I didn't have an opportunity to take advantage of spa services, but there was a full menu with some good specials. We left our passports in the hotel safe and did not realize until we got to Rome. The hotel was very helpful finding a driver to bring it to us before our flight left the next morning - such a great relief. Castello di Baccaresca, Proprietario at Castello di Baccaresca, responded to this review Dear Sabrina R,🏰 Thank You for the "Magical" Review! It's always a pleasure to read such terrific notes from our guests, thank you once again. We really appreciate that you took the time to share your wonderful experience: we are all absolutely thrilled to hear that the Tower Suite was everything you expected and more—we agree it’s a truly magical spot for an engagement, honeymoon, or anniversary! We’re also delighted you enjoyed the great food. We appreciate your patience regarding communication; our team always strives to find a way to connect with all our guests, and we are glad we succeeded in making you feel welcome in a professional way. We’ve noted your valuable feedback regarding the parking and the need to drive for off-property services. We believe the secluded location, while requiring a short drive, truly contributes to the peace and escape our guests seek.We were happy to assist in the stressful situation with your passports! Ensuring our guests' peace of mind, even after departure, is very important to us and also one of our top priorities. We are so pleased you had such a memorable stay and we truly hope you will visit us again soon. Perhaps next time you'll have the opportunity to enjoy those spa services you missed! We look forward to welcoming you back!Warm regards,Giacomo Magidirezione@castellodibaccaresca.it

Spring stay at Castello di Baccaresca

    rating03 May 2025

My stay at Castello di Baccaresca was pleasant, but unfortunately, it didn't quite justify its price tag. The hotel itself is charming, but the views were lacking unless you ventured outside the premises. The breakfast experience was particularly disappointing. The offerings were not fresh; many of the cakes seemed to have been reused from previous days, and there was a noticeable absence of fresh fruit. Even the boiled eggs weren't up to standard, with one being rotten. The frozen Italian cornetti and individually packaged jams and butter felt out of place, especially considering the abundance of excellent local produce available in the region. On the positive side, the coffee was good, and the service was exceptional. The staff at Castello di Baccaresca were friendly and attentive throughout our stay, which significantly enhanced our overall experience. In conclusion, while Castello di Baccaresca has its merits, especially in terms of service, the shortcomings in breakfast quality and value for money left us underwhelmed. Castello di Baccaresca, Proprietario at Castello di Baccaresca, responded to this review Dear HelenaAHV,Thank you for choosing Castello di Baccaresca and for taking the time to share your honest feedback. We are delighted to hear your positive comments regarding our staff and the quality of our service. However, we were sorry to learn about your breakfast experience. Please be assured that I will personally look into this to understand how our service fell short of its usual standards. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we are taking your feedback seriously to improve our offerings and prevent similar situations in the future. We would also like to mention that your stay took place during one of the most popular bank holidays in Italy, and our rates were still among the most competitive in the area, offering good value for money. We sincerely hope you will consider visiting us again in the future. It would be a wonderful opportunity for us to demonstrate our true standards and quality of service. Should you plan another trip to our region, please do not hesitate to contact me directly and I would ensure you tailor made services and rates.Warm regards,Giacomo Magidirezione@castellodibaccaresca.it

    Disappointing stay - beautiful location

    rating08 Sept 2021

We stayed for one night at this beautiful location. We also made a reservation for the restaurant that evening. We called one day beforehand to confirm our reservation. Upon arrival the reception didn't know about this, so we asked again. When entering the restaurant, they also didn't know about it. This already were signs that the organisation isn't structured and communication between departments is poor. The food was disappointing. The tagiatelli with ragu tasted like it was made a few days ago and heated up again; a shame for an Italian restaurant if you ask me. After the horrible Primi, we decided not to take a Secundi or dessert.Other guests also did not seem too happy about their food. However, it wasn't that expensive, so expectations can't be that high. The staff from the spa and welness arrived at 6:30AM. I can tell because they were loudly chatting in the courtyard of the castle. The cleaning ladies decided to make sure everyone was waken up by talking in the corridors at 8AM.To wrap it up: beautiful location, horrible service and disappointing food.Looking at previous comments, on which we decided to book this hotel, my guess is that it has been taken over or that the place lost its glory.

The walls of a castle with the rooms of a convent

    rating30 Oct 2019

My friend and I spent a week at this quirky Castle. I was excited to stay in a 15th Century Castle. Perched on a hilltop which is a bit of a hike from the parking lot, it offers beautiful views of the Umbrian country side. There is no signage as to how to enter the hotel or where the reception desk is. Be prepared to haul your own luggage up a set of stone stairs and across a large flagstone terrace. There is no bellman or cart. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a large armoire with 4 wire hangers and no dresser. As a result we weren’t able to actually unpack. The bathroom had a wall mounted hairdryer, which was mounted absurdly low on the wall, necessitating stooping over to dry your hair. The downstairs restaurant was lovely and we ate several excellent meals there. The gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce and walnuts was very memorable. Breakfast, which never varied other than for the saltiness of the ubiquitous scrambled eggs, was fine. It was boring and the bacon was virtually raw, but it was nourishing and the coffee was great. We were there in October and it was a little too cool for the pool, but I imagine it would feel great on a hot summer day. This hotel was a comfortable home base for exploring Umbria by car. It could stand to add some niceties to its rooms like hangers, a trash can, a shower with consistent hot water and a hairdryer not designed people under 4’11, but all in all we enjoyed our stay. Just remember, it is a castle not a palace.
