Central area ,but not really cozy

    rating09 Oct 2024

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights with my husband and we were annoyed by the noise that all doors made each time a guest closed them, you had to push/pull them twice to close ( the apartment door) and if someone came late of course it was disturbing, because we came to rest in a holiday not to hear every noise from the hotel. Also, the walls are pretty thin, we heard both neighbours speaking in their room as if it was in ours. If you don't have trouble with these mentions, the hotel is in a very central area, close to train station and the main attractions. Also, we would have apreciated the room/bathroom to be a bit nicer, there are some replacements to be done in the room because the stay was not cheap and we expected more.Another thing that should be improved is the availability of someone at the reception, we only saw the receptionist in the morning, in the afternoon if you needed anything I belive you had to call to ask for something. But i think its nice to be welcomed by someone at least on the first day, we came and found the key on the desk, we werent't really sure we should take it or not.

    Central, nice and safe hotel

    rating12 Aug 2022

We stayed there for one night. Due too traffic we arrived late night and the staff was very cooperative. We did self check inn and got parking in safe space. We had booked two rooms and both were big enough. Rooms are air conditioned. Bathroom are not modern but good enough. Hotel is close to the lining tower of Pisa. Nearly 600 meter to go. That was perfect for us as we would visit Linjng tower and cathedral same day and then leave Pisa. Hotel is ok for short visit.

    Ideal place to stay

We arrived in the early hours after a delayed flight and were so relieved to find a clean, efficient and warmly staffed place for our one night, with everything we needed and an easy breakfast too. Many thanks!

    WILL NOT BE RETURNING!

Good things: location & size of room. Bad things: very noise, people coming into the hotel at all times banging and shouting. We were woken both nights by this at several different times. People standing in the corridor shouting at midnight. People slamming doors at 2am. Walls are paper thin you can hear everyone around you, you hear every conversation, every time someone goes to the toilet, everything you can think of you can hear. No staff, stayed 2 nights only seen staff once and that was to check out.Bathroom wasn't a great size and shower door didn’t close properly. A €36 city tax that does get mentioned either.Don’t waste your money, pay a little more and get a place which you can enjoy and get a good nights sleep.

    Great base

    rating08 Sept 2020

We stayed here over the August bank holiday and had a lovely time. Although the airport wasn’t that far away we got a taxi as we wanted to get there quickly and settle in. We paid €15 for the taxi. On our return journey back to the airport we had got our bearings by then and got the little train shuttle from the station which cost €5 per ticket, taking only a few minutes to reach the airport terminal. The walk to the train station took approx. 20 mins.Through prior communication with the hotel it was established that no one would be there on the front desk once we arrived. Instructions were left for us including the access code into the building and the key card being left on the front desk. Our room was on the second floor facing the car park. The room itself was of a modest size with a comfy double bed. There was plenty of storage space, mirrors and power sockets. The shower pressure and water temperature were excellent however the shower cubicle was a tight squeeze. Housekeeping cleaned the room each day and ensured all the towels were replenished. There weren’t any English speaking channels on the TV but we did find VH-1 which played some English singing artists. It was quite warm whilst we were there and the air con unit worked well and wasn’t noisy. A hair dryer was provided in the bathroom but no iron so we took our own. Wi-Fi strength was excellent. Walls in the hotel are paper thin. As itinerant travellers we always take earplugs on our travels and you will definitely need them when staying here. We only went down for breakfast on one morning and grabbed a coffee and some of the mini toast crackers. The coffee was lovely, other breakfast items on offer included fruit, yogurt, pastries, spreadable cheese and bread. One of the main reasons we booked the hotel was the close proximity to the Pisa tower. It only took about 8 mins to walk there. We booked reservations to go up the tower before arriving and went on the 11am slot. The tower itself is magnificent with some stunning views. Lots of restaurants surround both the tower and the hotel. We struggled to find a supermarket near the hotel. The one we used was a Carrefour Express 5 mins away on Via Santa Maria. On a night we frequented the Café Albatross (via Domenico Cavalca 64) rock bar. We stumbled across this by chance after seeing the Foster street lights outside. The bar is open from 18:00 till 02:00 and has an outside area and a suitable inside area. A Large bottle of Birra Moretti was €3 and a glass of prosecco was €3, flavoured vodka shots were €1 and other shots were €2.On one of the days we went to Florence for the day and again had a fantastic time. Trains from central station run to Florence every hour or so. As we had booked tickets up the Duomo we wanted to get there with adequate time. The journey from Pisa to Florence took approx. 50mins and cost €8 per ticket. It was great seeing two main Italian cities during our short weekend break. We had a lovely bank holiday in Italy and enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff at the hotel were all lovely and friendly. As we had a late afternoon flight they even allowed us to keep the room on for no extra cost. We would definitely recommend Hotel Capitol to friends and family.
