Lovely hotel, badly let down by management

    rating07 Jun 2025

Despite the lovely hotel building, beautiful setting, this hotel is let down badly by the management. A little away from the town of Pistoia. Vastly overbooked, terribly unprepared, inadequately providing for the number and type of guests. Eager to book numbers but totally unprepared, in terms of the provisions of food and drinks. Unprofessionally run, inadequately staffed. We were asked to reuse the cutlery used for starters for the main course. Such a terrible shame, beautiful premises, lovely rooms, but our safe didn’t work. The housekeeping was very good, but the bar was run by an unprofessional staff. Breakfast was varied and reasonably provided, but the evening meal for our group of 41, was mostly poor, however the starters of various salad platters were superb. Main meal was a choice of two meals, one not so bad and another quite pathetic, the meat on some plates was less than adequate, just a couple of wafer thin slices of ham wrongly considered as ‘pork slices’. Rather embarrassing. Premises 4 star for sure, service hardly 2. They were supposed to have provided us with a shuttle to take us to town, sadly no such provision for those without their own transport. Very disappointing.

Could be but it is not

The hotel is located in the immediate outskirts of Pistoia, in an area where - these days - a large number of buildings are undergoing. The level of service is very low, attention to the clients neglectable. The room - I had a suite not in main building - very basic. Furnitures quite cheap, small windows, bathroom with no windows at all. The bed was large and comfortable. No noise reduction so that for inside the room you can clearly listen speeches in the corridor and viceversa. No decent air conditioning system.Breakfast minimal, little choice, industrial products. I will never go there again.

Great hotel - but read your reviews re food!

I visited here with a group to see the Puccini Opera Festival. The hotel is spotlessly clean with lovely staff and a great pool. Breakfasts were excellent - wide choice, fruits, cooked eggs, meats etc and plenty of it. My only cavil was with the first set evening’s meal - a miserable chicken leg and a few chips. However our tour guide did complain and the second set meal was excellent. This complaint seems to have been given before - and not always heeded. Villa Capuggi is such a nice hotel that I wonder why they stint sometimes - even though the cost of living crisis impacts here too. Just a little more luxury and this would be the perfect Italian hotel.

    Holiday in the sun

    rating31 Jul 2023

I came here with tour group. The rooms were okay, no dressing table and space to put things, wardrobe to high I couldn't reach the coat hangers. The room was cleaned each day. But the food was awful. Very tasteless and bland, no choice given. The swimming pool was lovely , but you must wear a swim hat, which the hotel sell for 3 Euro, towels are 3 Euro each time you have a clean one. I found it a quiet hotel.

Nice hotel , food not so grea

Travelled on solos holiday with Just You. Rooms are good size and well appointed and hotel facilities are good. Many of the guests were Italians and they had separate dining facilities with much better food. Pool was not open in September despite brochure stating that it should have been. Nice staff.
