  Room is basic,classic but was cozy. The fact that surprised us was that there were no slippers nor bath robes. Excellent breakfast and amazing staff!   Decent modern hotel, very convenient for the station. About 20 minute walk to the old city. Simple but comfortable room, well modernised and maintained, although slightly let down by a small and badly designed bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good restaurant. Curious practice of charging a 5 euro deposit for a second key card.   This hotel has significant potential and looks the part, which I appreciate. It's conveniently located right next to Bari's central train station. However, during my recent stay, I noticed a few areas that could be improved to enhance guest comfort. The beds (a good size) and pillows could benefit from an upgrade for a better rest. The bathtub feels somewhat of low quality underfoot. Additionally, the walls are quite thin due to a lack of adequate acoustic insulation, which affected my privacy and quietness. With some improvements in these aspects, I believe the hotel could easily achieve a higher rating and offer a more pleasant experience.   A lovely hotel with excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere.

  A beautiful hotel with elegant design and a true sense of luxury. The rooms are practical and well equipped, with tea and coffee available. Water is also available at an extra cost. Breakfast was rich, varied, and delicious. There is a shop located right next to the hotel, which is very convenient.The only downside was the thin walls — we had trouble sleeping one night due to a child in the neighboring room crying until 1 a.m. However, the reception staff were very kind and helpful, offering assistance and a room change (but we stayed).Overall, a lovely hotel with excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere.   A disappointing experience — not recommendedWe have just returned from our stay at Hotel Excelsior Bari, booked and fully paid in advance through Booking, and unfortunately the overall experience was far below expectations. The only positive aspects worth mentioning are the hotel’s proximity to the train station, which allows easy access in multiple directions, and the Farha restaurant, where both the staff and the breakfast met the standards described in the hotel’s presentation.Beyond these two aspects, the rest of our stay was a series of unpleasant surprises.The issues began at check-in, where the reception staff proved to be unfriendly, distant, and noticeably condescending towards guests. Despite having a confirmed and fully prepaid reservation, we were asked for a credit card as an additional guarantee, with no clear explanation. The card details were then written down manually on a form, a practice that raised concerns and was carried out without offering any further information about our stay. The overall attitude was rushed and cold, leaving a poor first impression of the hotel’s hospitality standards.Moving on to the room, it was simply “decent,” nothing more — certainly not reflective of the price or the category this hotel claims to represent. The view was highly disappointing, facing directly toward a residential building; opening the window meant practically looking straight into the neighbors’ apartments. This made it impossible to enjoy natural ventilation or any sense of privacy.Regarding the in-room amenities, the so-called minibar consisted only of a few bottles of water. Out of necessity, we used one, and at check-out we were unexpectedly charged 3 euros for 500 ml of water — an unjustifiable cost considering the hotel’s shortcomings and the level of service provided.Overall, our experience leads us to strongly advise future guests to reconsider booking at this hotel. While the location near the train station may be convenient, in our case it was the only real advantage. There are likely much better options in Bari, even if slightly further from the station, where guests can expect a more pleasant, welcoming, and customer-oriented stay.In conclusion, we do not recommend Hotel Excelsior Bari, and we hope that the management will take customer feedback seriously and address the evident issues related to staff attitude, communication, and the overall value for money. Our common areas, elegantly furnished and all our services are also very much appreciated, although you may not have had the opportunity to experience them.The request for a credit card as a guarantee is a standard, entirely regular procedure, used in all reputable, high-level establishments. In your specific case, the credit card was requested as a guarantee for any potential extra. It appears that regular travel is not a common practice for you, as you don't seem to be acquainted with our policies.Based on your words, we also fear that most of the procedures and steps we followed may not have been entirely clear to you, since the 500 ml bottle of water provided in our rooms costs €1.50; €3.00 you mentioned certainly refer to the legally required city tax.Regarding your dissatisfaction with the assigned room, we are very sorry. You could have reported this during your stay; if the room view caused you such discomfort, we would certainly have found a more suitable solution for you.We are located in the very center of Bari, just a short walk from the central station; it is not easy to have a breathtaking view from a property of this kind.Lastly, we would have appreciated it much more if all these observations had been communicated directly to our staff in person, as we could certainly have avoided most of the issues you encountered.Regards,The Management
