    Perfection in Puglia

    rating18 Jun 2025

Where to begin…!We got married at Tenuta Monacelle in June 2025 and it was the best weekend of our lives! We had visited the venue 3 times prior to that, as well as exchanged countless phone calls and emails with them - the staff could not have done more for us; a special shout out to Nicola and Remigio who went above and beyond. The hotel is beautiful; extensive, manicured grounds and great rooms (staying in the trulli is really special). The food is fantastic - all our guests commented on how delicious it all was, and the breakfast is not to be missed. The pool is huge with loads of beds to lounge on, and it’s ideal having a pool bar right there. Honestly could not recommend Tenuta Monacelle enough; whether it’s for a wedding or a holiday! Grazie mille to every single member of staff, we will be back ☺️ Tenuta Monacelle, Marketing at Tenuta Monacelle, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your wonderful words. We are truly honoured that you chose Tenuta Monacelle for such a special occasion as your wedding, and even happier to know that it became the best weekend of your lives.Your appreciation for our grounds, trulli, cuisine, and pool fills us with pride, and we are especially delighted that Nicola, Remigio, and the whole team were able to contribute to making your celebration unforgettable. It was a joy to host you and your guests, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future, whether for another celebration or a well-deserved holiday in Puglia. With our warmest congratulations and best wishes

Stay somewhere else…. anywhere else, in fact!

    rating20 Apr 2025

Arriving at imposing, green painted metal gates set in a perimeter wall that is more army compound than luxury hotel, this was our last stop on an eleven night (six hotel) road trip and, sadly, our experience was dreadful. We wanted the simple experience of two nights in a traditional Trulli; Gardenia is, according to our receptionist, the one saved for newly weds. With peeling paint on the doors, waste bins outside, a shower that wouldn’t drain (but which is connected to the toilet such that soiled water backed up into the shower tray), radiators that don’t work and a mattress so firm that it might as well have been wooden boards, it is far from blissful. The swimming pool was closed, bar staff had to be sought out, breakfast juices in plastic cups, eggs cooked so badly a child could have done better, the breakfast buffet decimated by coach tour guests that went through like locusts, loud music playing everywhere (but not providing any form of relaxation), non-Trulli accommodation provided in what look like prison blocks and reception staff that have clearly become worn out by, I suspect, a litany of complaints, this hotel is to be avoided. We believed our accommodation to have been pre-paid at the time of booking. Indeed a member of staff confirmed that our credit card details will have been taken and, in black and white, we had confirmation of payment made. When presented with a bill for two nights of accommodation and the cost of two evening meals (the only high point of our stay) I challenged it. When I asked for assistance so that I could identify which (of my numerous) credit cards I might have used to make the payment - the onus on me to prove that I had done so (not straightforward with very weak/non-existent wifi anywhere other than in reception) - it was refused and I was accused of trying to avoid paying for our accommodation and, at one point, I was threatened with police presence. I made payment but will issue a formal complaint if I subsequently discover, on our return to the UK, that I have paid twice. This hotel might suit school trips and one-night layover coach tourists but it is not luxury, not welcoming and I cannot recommend it in any way. Tenuta Monacelle, Marketing at Tenuta Monacelle, responded to this review Gentile Sig.

The best wedding venue location! 5 star.

    rating30 Aug 2024

Firstly i am going to start this review of by saying if you are planning on getting married here and still thinking about it you will NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. The weekend of 14th June 2024 we hired the entire venue and grounds for 3 exclusive days. Tenuta Monacelle consists of 48 rooms and we had around 100-114 guest staying. The staff at the venue are all so very helpful, Nicola the Events manager is one of the Most helpful, lovely Italian man you could ever meet! Made our stay and our wedding so perfect with his expertise. All the waiters / waitresses cleaners everyone who generally works here are all so lovely and helpful - a few speak no English, but this did not stop them from being polite and helpful. On our first day we had a welcome party - a pizza Buffett party around the pool area with an Italian opera singer. The Saturday was our wedding day in the morning our guests enjoyed the breakfast in the restraunt lunch time a light lunch was provided for all guest at the pool area and then our wedding late afternoon. THE WEDDING FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. We opted for a 4 station show/spot cooking for our appetisers freshly cooked Breads, cured meats , fried fish, and some fresh fish , fresh cheese all cooked and prepped there in front of our guests. We then went on to a three course sit down meal, our guests all said it was th best food they have ever had at a wedding. The wedding cake provided by the venue was HUGE delicious cake.We partied until 2.30am with a band everything was perfect. The next day we had a pool party with a DJ and a sax player, BBQ around the pool and then tenuta Monacelle provided us with an outdoor screen for us to watch the englands opening game to the euros.Everything was perfect and i cannot fault the venue or staff at all. It is the most perfect wedding venue something out of a fairytale our guest were blown away.A few of our guests were stranded at the airport on their arrival due to the G7 summit being the same weekend - they contacted tenuta monacelle and the arrange transportation straight away from them.I have read multiple reviews regarding the noise of guest staying when there is a wedding being held here - my response to that is the venue is mainly a wedding venue and some guests only hire parts of the venue and not exclusive use so if you are planning to come and stay then maybe check with the venue before hand if they have any weddings and restrictions the dates of your stay. We were fortunate enough to have booked all the rooms exclusively for us. the grounds are beautiful - stunning views beautiful flowers and palm trees everywhere. The 7 Trulli are just so authentic and something out of a fairytale. The masseria rooms are exactly what you need for your stay. The pool if of a decent size! With lots of sunloungers I just wish we could do it all again.Thank you to all the staff at TENUTA MONACELLE and Nicola for being the best host! Shanice & Josh Tenuta Monacelle, Marketing at Tenuta Monacelle, responded to this review Thank you so much for your wonderful words and for choosing Tenuta Monacelle for such a special celebration! We’re truly honored to have been part of your unforgettable wedding weekend. A heartfelt thank you from all the team—and especially from Nicola! We’d love to welcome you back anytime, even just to relive a little of that fairytale magic.

    Noisy, Dated, and Disappointing

    rating04 Jul 2024

I stayed at this hotel and was very disappointed with my experience. The most significant issue was the loud music that played until 2:30AM .with large wedding parties. The noise permeated the entire hotel, including the guest rooms, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. Despite complaints to the management, nothing was done to address this disturbance. In addition to the noise problem, the rooms were tired and outdated, in need of refurbishment. The decor was old-fashioned, and the furnishings showed significant wear and tear, which detracted from the overall comfort and appeal of the stay. The breakfast was another letdown. The selection was poor, with limited choices and subpar quality. It felt more like an afterthought than a well-prepared meal to start the day.Overall, this hotel failed to meet my expectations in several key areas. For anyone seeking a restful and pleasant stay, I would recommend looking elsewhere until these issues are addressed.

    Very poor -= don't go !!

    rating26 Jun 2024

This is a wedding and events hotel so if you want a peaceful or restful break - go elsewhere. The first night there was a wedding so dinner was very noisy with poor service and very poor food. Our second night there was a very noisy party which made dinner very unpleasant - still very poor food. The staff were mostly surly and unhelpful (exceptions being the dark-haired lady serving in the restaurant and Sante and Florian at reception who were charming and very helpful). The breakfasts were not great and there was often no fresh fruit at the buffet unless you asked them to get some, which they did unwillingly.Housekeeping poor - we were given a sachet with 2 single tissues for 2 of us to last 4 nights, 1 small tube of strong cherry body wash and 2 tiny soaps. The bathroom smelt of drains and the shower fittings were coming off the wall. Curtais very thin and stained, hairdryer really poor (only got to lukewarm).Other members of our group had to change rooms because of problems - one couple changed TWICE !!Generally very poor. You have been warned.
