  We left two days early

  Me and my partner came here for a break in October. It has been a while since we left and I don’t normally leave reviews but I have ruminated on my experience and feel I should share as other reviews are quite contradictory to my poor opinions on the place. The area is lovely and the town of Puglia is quaint and beautiful. I wouldn’t suggest booking here if you don’t have a car however, as the Airbnb is quite a walk away from the centre.I found that the room we were placed in was not shown or advertised at all, I’ve noticed previous bad reviews are also by visitors who were given the ‘Quadruple room.’my issues with the room were mainly;cleanliness, the amount of dust under the arm chair was disgusting- likewise with the fake fire place and TV remote, all were covered in a couple of centimeters of dust upon arrival. The toilet roll holder was broken and the toilet roll would fall off every time you tried to use it, a very easy fix so it’s baffling why you wouldn’t fix this before people arrive. The bathroom door also just needs shaving down slightly as it drags badly along the floor and it’s so loud and wakes up anyone else on the room.The whole room stunk. They had people clear out the septic tank on one of our last days as I assume that is what was causing the smell but this really should’ve been done before it got to the point where the room smells of sewage.We also were not warned that the septic tank was getting emptied so on holiday, the one time where I can allow myself a lay in, I get woken up at 8 in the morning by the vacuum they use to Hoover all the poop up. it literally sounded like a Helicopter had landed outside the room. - my issue here is not that they are maintaining the sewage system on the property but the fact that it was done so early in the morning and no one had mentioned it upon booking and/or arrival. Further poo issues-There are three dogs on the property. One is allowed to stroll around and two are locked up all day. Not only did it make me sad to see both of those dogs be left to sit and sleep outside while the other dog ran around no issues but the dog that was allowed out stole two pairs of shoes from our room and had spread mud and poop around the patio outside of our door. My last complaint is the room is underneath the outside dining area, DIRECTLY underneath. So- if you want a lay in then make sure you don’t get the quadruple room, you can hear every step, every word and every scrape of a chair.I cannot fault the service and the breakfast, the food and drink were delicious and the host was happy to accommodate. This is why I am giving the stay three stars- not one. Overall- the room we were in was overpriced and underwhelming, I had to deal with far too much fecal matter and funny smells and just general uncleanliness. I’ve found the only way the host could justify the price of the property is by being exceptionally nice to the guests but it is not worth it in my opinion and I would much rather have paid what the room was worth or have the room not smell of poo and not have dog poop outside the room and not have a thick layer of dust on everything and not have the septic tank cleaned out when there is a guest in the only room right next to it and so early in the morning. Ultimately we did leave two days early because of how unhappy we were- the host did not care that we were leaving nor did she ask why or if there was something she could do to make the experience better and i truly believe it’s because she knows exactly what the issues are and that it’s awful. micaela daprile, Proprietario at Trulli Terra Magica, responded to this review Dear Olivia,Thank you for sharing your experience. They have never been used to "justify" any price. This is demonstrated by the many positive reviews we have received over time.Regarding the reported odor, the room had been recently renovated and had the normal odor of new materials, which was temporary and not attributable to sewer problems. Septic tank maintenance is performed by an external company on a scheduled basis but without prior notice, always after 8:30 a.m., as is the case in many rural properties.We admit that, during that period, the housekeeping service wasn't as impeccable as usual: we had hired two new housekeepers on a trial basis, who were subsequently replaced. That said, we believe it's excessive to describe such a drastic situation compared to the actual state of the room.We also note that the quadruple room mentioned hasn't existed for several years, precisely because we've always listened to guests' suggestions and improved the facility over time.Regarding the dogs: Olivio is our dog, known to guests for years for his cheerful and playful nature. It's true that he sometimes steals shoes for fun, but he doesn't soil the floor areas, being accustomed to doing his business exclusively in the dirt. I love animals much more than you might think, and my dogs are loved and cared for with the utmost attention, as if they were my own children.Finally, the quadruple room is secluded, quiet, and have a private terrace. The presence of the gazebo above has never compromised the comfort of our guests, as confirmed by numerous previous stays.We welcome constructive criticism and continue to work every day to improve, but we also believe it's right to offer a balanced and up-to-date representation of our experience.We wish you all the best on your future travels.Best regardsMicaela

  Amazing boutique hotel. Highly recommended

  We were amazed with how beautiful our room was, the amenities provided and the warm welcome received. It is a boutique hotel, where you do feel at home. The beautiful room we had, had everything you could ask for:Nespresso machine, fast Wi-Fi, hair dryer, great shower products. It was beautifully decorated and I must say I slept like a baby! The bed was extremely comfortable too. We stayed in one of the trulli bedrooms which i would highly recommend. The outdoor pool was beautiful and clean and had plenty of loungers. Breakfast was generous and delicious with a range of danish, yoghurt, fresh fruits, focaccia, salad, cereals etc. much more than we could’ve asked for. We will definitely come back if we visit Puglia again.A big thank you to the hosts who do in our opinion an amazing job at offering a 5* service in a boutique hotel. I would also say that for the price paid it was tremendous value.   We stayed in a wonderful place, immersed in nature and served perfectly. The cycling routes offered in the area felt like diving into a place rich in nature and flowers. The room was very comfortable, elegant, and with unusual colors. Halfway through our trip in Italy, we became friends with a couple heading to Puglia and convinced them to stay here. The staff was understanding and helped them find a nice place to stay as well.   A beautiful experience

  We booked this accommodation on a recommendation from a friend. What a lovely friend!We stayed in a recently renovated truli with another adjoining guest bedroom. These are located in a separate place 1-minute drive from the main hotel.Perfect for 2 couples with space and privacy for all.Very nice sitting areas outside, with kitchen, bbq and fridge, surrounded by cute gardens and our own pool. (Sadly not heated but bearable in May!) The accommodations were immaculate and comfortable, choice of pillows, with plenty of fluffy towels and hot water. Also great Wi Fi coverage.The host Micaela is so kind and absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble.Breakfast is wonderful. Lots of choices, fresh pastries, fruit, cereals, great coffee, cold cuts and cheeses and homemade jam. We didn't need lunch for the 5 days we stayed in Puglia!This is a great location for touring the area, lots of the main attractions are within a short drive and the nearby town of Putignano has lots of nice restaurants and bars.There are many other amazing places to eat in this part of the world so bring an appetite!All in all a really lovely, peaceful and relaxing experience.   This is not 5 star but neither is the price. The accommodations were comfortable. The grounds welcoming. The Host was 5 Star. The location made it easy to make daily road trips. You don’t need to plan every minute as our hosts has recommendations to fit your Desires. We would return.
