  We stayed at the hotel Post cruise for 3 nights.Didn't know what to expect from this hotel as it was booked as part of a package with the cruise company.Hotel is very large, divided into 2 sections. It has a nice pool area along with a spa which we didn't see.The standard room was more than adequate, with a kettle and tea and coffee, a seperate bath and shower, with lovely big towels.Booking in was a pleasure, reception staff are lovely.What we hadn't expected or was made clear, is the hotel is a 1.5 hour walk unto Rome!Thankfully the hotel runs a shuttle bus which takes 20 minutes and costs €5 each way, well worth the money, but you need to book both journeys. The bus drops off at the Vatican or in the shopping district, approx 10 minute walk to the Patheon.Now what we didn't like...Breakfast whilst adequate was chaos, total chaos and so, not relaxing.I do suggest those that want more peace and quiet, choose to sit outside.The hotel offers an A La Carte menu, which is limited, expensive and frankly awful. It was SO salty!   Amazing service from start to finish

  Amazing service from start to finish. It's rare that I find a hotel with all staff genuinely keen to provide a good service and be helpful, friendly and professional. Special thanks to Silvia who served us lunch for several days in the Garden Restaurant and was really welcoming, kind to our kids, and remembered our choices from day to day. The reception staff were fantastic too. Ashamed to say I don't speak much Italian but the language skills of all the staff we met were incredible.The bedrooms were large, comfortable, clean, modern and perfect for us (family with 3 kids). We opted for the Executive Rooms because it included Spa access. I'm very glad we did, as it turned out this also included access to a Lounge with great views, and free beer, prosecco, spirits, teas, coffees, snacks and open all day (shut in the evenings). On top of that we received vouchers for the Lunch each day which was 2 courses in their lovely garden bar/restaurant and the food was fantastic. The vouchers also covered Aperitif in the evening, including a cocktail/drink and a small buffet of snacks - all delicious.It would have been worth it for the Spa anyway as this was great. A very warm indoor pool with space for the kids to swim about a bit (Kids access limited from 10am-midday which worked out fine for us), a huge Sauna, Steam room areas, aromatic showers, and roman impluvium.Breakfast was great with a huge selection of fresh food and plenty of coffee machines. We ate in the buffet restaurant on our last evening which served fresh and plentiful international food, with an insanely big dessert selection! It's not open Monday and Tuesday but I think it's open the other days and is very popular with locals, not just those staying in the hotel. The location is a slightly tricky. On the one hand it's great because it's quiet, has lovely views of the hills, plenty of space in the grounds. On the other hand it means finding transport to and from Rome centre, for the sightseeing holiday we were on. There is a shuttle on offer in the hotel (5 euros per head each way) but the times didn't seem great for us, and taxis are expensive in Italy - to get a taxi in and out daily would have added ~140euros per day for our group of 6. Instead we opted for public transport. There were a few bus stops close by, a 5 min walk to the main road got us a H bus straight to central rome. A 10min walk to another stop got us a short bus ride to the vatican. The problem was the consistency of the public buses. Some days it worked perfectly. In theory they were every 15mins or so - but sometimes they just didn't show, or were very delayed. A walk down and up a hill to Casaletto (a tram stop but there was a replacement bus service while we were there), was the most reliable option as multiple bus routes stop there.Overall, we found the A.Roma to be a perfect hotel for a family trip to Rome, especially in colder months as our kids are very keen on a pool and this was one of the only hotels we could find with an indoor pool allowing kids access. It's well worth the upgrade to Executive Rooms. It's a professional and classy hotel. I stay in many hotels for work and I would say A.Roma feels like a 5 star hotel.   Excellent hotel highly recommend

  I have stayed at 4&5 star hotels in many counties and this is easily one of the best hotels I have stayed in. I literally have nothing bad to say and that is unusual. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are excellent, the food is excellent, the service is excellent they literally cannot do enough for you. The spa is a delight and it’s in a great location not too close to the city centre but near enough to get to.
