I stayed here for 6 nights. Overall the stay wad nice and it is close to termini station. Definitely alkable. Not to far fromthe city center. A supermarket is right next door and several restuarants were close. Ecept for limited hot water, the room was nice and staff were pleasant.I wouls stay there again.

Very helpful reception,Great location but disastrous rooms.

    rating30 Oct 2025

First of all I should insist on how great all staff and reception are. They all were very kind and helpful . We had an incident in the airport and arrived quite later than usual check-in hours right before the front desk would shut down.Though the lovely girl in the reception ,whom I am afraid I don’t know her name, stayed after her designated working hour and helped us with check-in. She answered all our questions and helped us to find a place to eat dinner. Not only her but also all of her colleagues were such a great help and made our stay as pleasant as possible. There only a slight problem that the front desk hours is 8 am to 9 pm. So if anything happens at night it might be hard because you have to contact them by hotel numbers and they are present there. About the hotel I would definitely say that the location is THE BEST. A 10 minute walk to coliseum, 20 minutes to Trevi fountain, pantheon, just near bus stops and metro. We even was able to walk and discovered the town towards trastevere and prati neighborhood since the hotel is monti. Though bare in mind that monti has uphill and downhills. As I said termini station is just around corner but I would recommend not going there even in daylight since it’sa bit sketchy. The biggest problem about this hotel is the building itself. It is very old and that made the stay so inconvenient . The bathroom stinks so bad we couldn’t stand it in the room . The shower place is literally 90 sqft and so small. The bidet and toilet are so close together and badly designed that your head is in toilet when using the bidet . Other than the room, the lift only fits two people and shakes quite a lot while using it. The lobby is fine but I would strongly suggest them to renovate their rooms and elevator. Not only their rooms, toilets , bathroom. Their room facilities are not good enough. The beds were not comfortable and the blankets were stinky so we were forced to use the sheets only. All in all I can’t say I enjoyed staying in the room due lack of facilities and convenience but meeting their lovely staff was worth staying there. If you are not so tackled with rooms and so high standard this hotel is right for you.

Nice location, otherwise - may be better

    rating10 Sept 2025

Nicely located the hotel is outdated and worn out. They advertise breakfast, but do not provide it, and there is no arrangement with business nearby. Fortunately one block away at the square there is a café open from 7 AMThe hotel does not provide the key - only numbers to dial on the door. The refrigerator - type of the devices, which are normally installed in the furniture - in our room was standing on the floor. The blankets were not provided (not a big deal in August). The beds were covered by colorful coverings, which arrears not cleaned for a long time.Bed linen they change once in three nights (their policy announced in the room)

Great value, comfortable central Rome hotel, highly recommend

    rating13 Mar 2025

Hotel Canova is very conveniently located between Termina and Cavour metro stations. It's three-star: I've read some uncomplimentary reviews which criticise the hotel unfairly I think, being based on unfortunate individual experiences which can happen to anyone anywhere (yes, you pay seoarate city tax on arrival, nothing wrong with that). The rooms are small but adequate for a couple and much better value than other three-star hotels in the centre of Rome. Our room wasn't at all run down in appearance but had been refurbished. Room and hotel access is via a unique key code which only you and the management have, plus there's a safe as well as a fridge. Bed and ensuite bathroom were both fine. No breakfast but there's a café-bar across the street (hotel coffee is almost always weak and undrinkable so having real coffee there was preferable) and there's also a well-stocked grocers right next door (which even had proper tea as opposed to the usual weak Liptons). Via Urbana itself includes several convenient eating places nearby and a delicatessen. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, including providing us with a kettle, cups and tray when we asked, and arranging for a shuttle taxi to take us to the airport for the standard charge (€40 for Ciampino) with the best taxi driver we've ever had anywhere, an extraordinary woman who got us to Ciampino in half an hour which was quite amazing considering the state of the morning traffic. It was like bring driven at speed and in complete safety by a young Lella Lombardi.

    Absolutely Unacceptable and Unsafe Experience

    rating26 Aug 2024

My partner and I had a deeply disturbing experience at this hotel. At 1 am, we were abruptly woken up by a strange man entering our room. This man had been given our room number and door code by the hotel reception staff. He only left after I confronted him, naked and shouting, and his only response was, "Sorry! Sorry! I have a pin code!" This is beyond unacceptable. The situation was terrifying and could have been much worse had I not been there to confront the intruder. The thought of what could have happened if my girlfriend had been alone in that room is chilling. To make matters worse, the manager's response was disgraceful. Instead of taking responsibility, he tried to emotionally blackmail us into not leaving a bad review, stating that he would fire the receptionist if we did. He also dismissed our concerns by saying nothing bad had happened, and therefore, a refund wasn’t justified. Nothing bad happened? Being woken in the middle of the night by a stranger barging into our room, causing us to have to physically confront him while naked, is a severe breach of safety and privacy. The way this incident was handled by the staff and management was appalling. I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to think twice, especially if you value your safety and privacy. This hotel clearly does not.
