Absolutely not worth risking your health - MUD

Location: close to key attractions and in a safe area, with self check-in and check-out.But there was mold in both the bathroom and the room, and a musty smell lingered throughout the apartment. The flat is on the 3rd floor with no working elevator and is very dark. The mold in the bathroom and on the bedroom wall poses a real health hazard. I’m reviewing the apartment named: Panteon.

We decided to stay at this property to be comfortable with our little guy and we couldn't have made a better choice. The structure is brand new and is equipped with everything needed for cooking, washing and staying. Quiet and very welcoming room. Kind host, helped us with everything. Very central location 20 minutes from the Colosseum and 10 from Termini, an area full of clubs.We hope to return soon!

In summary: My family and I booked Domenichino Luxury Home via Hotels.com and it was the worst accommodation I have ever had due to being exposed and poisoned with black mold. I do not recommend anyone who cares for their health and well-being to stay here and I do not recommend booking any accommodations with Hotels.com as they will not provide consumer protection when something does go wrong with a property booked through their site. In detail: Upon arrival at the address for Domenichino Luxury Home, we were moved to a completely different building around the corner. I specifically chose this property because it was close to the other two people we were traveling with. This new property we were moved to was a little farther and I found it strange that we were not staying at the property address we were given (side note: the new building was challenging to navigate with a toddler and I highly do not recommend this property for families).Once in the room we unpacked and showered. I smelled mold and immediately alerted the booking manager via whatsapp (the only way to communicate with someone associated with the property). I was told that this building's pipes smell after a heavy rain and that there is nothing to worry about. I pushed it from my mind and went out to sightsee. Our second day at the property we were not able to shower because the hot water was not working (it was fixed after we left for our tours that day). The morning of our third day I used the shower and noticed that my asthma was acting up, I was sneezing a lot, and had an itchy throat and eyes. I figured I had morning allergies and went about our day of sightseeing. I didn't think more of it because I started to feel better while out and about. On the fourth day of our stay I woke up to even more severe allergic symptoms after using the shower and it wasn't until we were out of the unit that I realized I have to be allergic to something inside the unit itself. And that's when it hit me- the smell I noticed had to be mold!When we came back that night I had my husband shine his flashlight in the shower to expose what I had suspected- black mold EVERYWHERE. The shower was so deeply covered in mold that there is no way that it grew only in the time we were staying in the unit. It had to have been there for some time and this confirmed to me that they do not clean the shower often and well enough. The mold blends in and hides well because the shower tile is black and the bathroom lighting is very poor. So it wasn't until we shined our phone flashlights into the shower did we see all the black mold. With every shower my family took- we were breathing black mold spores!I immediately sent the photos of the mold covered shower walls to the booking manager and to Hotels.com. The booking manager said "we will do better next time." There was no empathy for the health situation I was in, being asthmatic and all, and there was no remedy offered. I was pretty ill due to this and it affected the enjoyment of the remaining 10 days of our trip. So, once I directly asked to be compensated, he stopped communicating with me altogether. It is clear, he does not care about the condition of his property or how his mismanagement has affected those staying with there.Black mold is incredibly serious and a health hazard. I am so fortunate that the only one with severe symptoms of black mold poisoning was myself and not my 3 year old daughter. While I did feel better after leaving the property the next morning, I still had headaches, inflamed sinuses, a cough, and trouble breathing with asthma wheezing for weeks after we returned home. To date, the property and Hotels.com has refused to provide compensation for this situation. I trusted Hotels.com to provide a safe and reputable place for me and my family to stay and instead we were put in a hazardous situation with zero consumer protection.

Dear guest, This review contains false and defamatory statements. And in fact, no review by any other guest has ever raised a similar complaint.The reality is that just after the guest reported the problem to us, one of the owners personally went on site along with a plumber. The plumber verified the total absence of any mold or mud and stated that the apartment did not need any intervention.Otherwise it is true that the guests asked us to have free nights, blackmailing us of giving us bad reviews. We had a lovely stay here at Domenchino Luxury Home. It was our home away from home - very clean and comfortable in a great location. There’s was even a little washing machine which was helpful after a few days of travelling. We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic communication from the host, Michele. Great location, 5 minutes away from the Colosseum, and in amongst plenty of restaurants and shops. Apartment was very clean and well presented, with a lot of amenities for your use. Beds are comfortable and the apartment is very secure. Would definitely stay there again.
