A Hidden gem with loverly staff and loverly breakfast in the centre of Rome.

    rating17 Apr 2026

The Domus Libera is very centrally placed, all the sights are within 35min walk… The staff are lovely and all their help (and cappuccinos which at the end of a days wondering is a perfect wind-down!) last week, made our stay lovely city so welcoming.Greeted every morning with a smile, breakfast and more cappuccinos, nothing was too much and the staff were a great help when my other half had a accident on the steps of the Basilica Santa Maria and broke her arm…. Saved the holiday really.Recommendation ?? Well, for the price, the rooms, the facilities and location, when we return to Rome we will return to Domus Libera which is as good a recommendation as anyone can give. .

    A little Gem

    rating19 Mar 2025

Spent 10 days at this boutique hotel. Got lucky to have picked this one. Perfect location in heart of central Rome yet almost quiet and serene!April, Pauline and Ella were the perfect hosts - going out of their way every day to give us hints and tips. I was working lots so also availed of great quiet space. Breakfast every morning a real personal touch with pastries and the best coffee we had in Rome. You won’t go wrong here. Joe

    Wonderful Hotel

    rating24 Nov 2024

My fiancé and I visited from the 23rd to 25th November, breakfast was included and we had a room with a balcony. We were greeted by the lovely April, who was friendly and helpful as soon as we met. She greeted us with cappuccino’s and homemade fruit shortbreads (which were incredible). The hotel is spotless, brilliantly decorated and in a fantastic location. You can order breakfast to your room, the food is delicious and there’s nothing the staff won’t do to make your stay memorable. Would 100% recommend to anyone, wonderful place.

Search no more! Great location and accommodations

    rating16 Oct 2024

This is the place to stay in Rome! * Centrally located to all attractions, yet down a quiet alley way. We are in our 50’s and walked everywhere. *The accommodations are perfect! Large rooms (especially for Italy). The beds were so comfortable and we actually had a king size bed;) they provide coffee and tea options in the room. *Amazing breakfast in the morning with homemade baked goods, fruit, granola, a cute personal charcuterie board, made to order eggs, fresh juices and cappuccino’s.*The staff are so kind, making sure we had everything we needed, special touches like leaving us her homemade red velvet cake in our room to enjoy, answering any questions and making accommodations for transfer. Giving us recommendations to restaurants and where to mail all the things we purchased. Our room was the one with the balcony :) * I wish I had more pics to post. What they show on there site is true to what you be staying in;)

Great Location / Bad everything else

    rating01 Sept 2024

We had a mixed experience at this hotel. The owner was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the charming atmosphere and convenient location. The breakfast was also a highlight. However, our stay was marred by several issues. Our room was uncomfortably hot, and the air conditioning didn't work properly. We were only given one key card, which controlled the lights and AC, so the room would heat up when we left. The refrigerator wasn't working, and despite reporting the issue, it wasn't fixed. The room was also noisy, with outside noise easily audible, and we discovered that the windows had been left open, making it even hotter. To top it off, the shower leaked every time we used it. These issues made our stay uncomfortable, and we wouldn't choose to stay here again Manager Experience Hotel, Proprietario at Domus Libera, responded to this review Dear Ms. Femera,Dear Mr. Femera, That your stay was problematic we understood from the very beginning, from the time we had to pick you up with the car because you could not find our hotel despite, we are in the very center of Rome and despite any gps present on the of a cell phone is able to give correct directions to get to Vicolo del Piombo at number 7. Except you. You guys couldn't. We would like to point out that you were given multiple keys to the room. The fact that you had only one is the first of countless inaccuracies/lies you have written in your various reviews (yeah because you left at least 6.. including the first and only in your TripAdvisor profile you created only to reviews our hotel from your profile and your husband profile). Your uniqueness in finding us corresponded to your uniqueness in losing your keys. Honestly we should have charged you for as many as you asked for but we were only too kind not to charge you for them. The building in which the Domus Libera is located is not a “rustic” building but a historic one. If you don't know the difference, look it up in the dictionary. It is a palace from the 1500s...you should know that while in 1492 Christopher Columbus reached the shores of the United States followed later in 1497 by Caboto, in Rome there was already the palace where you stayed from August 11 to 15 this year, in Vicolo del Piombo! The palace, like the alley is therefore not noisy, but historic. Also for this difference, use the vocabulary! Next we come to the temperature that you claim was inside the room uncomfortable. Well you stayed from August 11 to 15, 2024. In Rome the temperatures were as follows: August 11 - 37°C, August 12 - 36°C, August 13 - 35°C, August 14 - 35°C, August 15 - 34°C, with humidity between 45 and 50%. The air conditioners in our rooms, did their job perfectly, so much so that no one complained except her. Perhaps for more refreshment she could take advantage of our food freezers, which are large but definitely more uncomfortable than our rooms. Hot room, non-functioning refrigerator that forces you to drink hot water, 4 showers a day because it is Sahara desert temperature inside the room and then ... after 4 days you realize the window is open. You complain about the noise, the suffocating heat and don't check the window? Do you see it open only after 4 days? Ah yes, that's right--you couldn't find us on foot with so much gps, our question is superfluous. We are sorry that all your frustration with your personal relationship, made up of misunderstandings of quarrels and “misplaced” words on the very occasion of your anniversary, she transfers it to us, however, we are an accommodation facility, a hotel, not a couples therapist. We cannot help you with your marriage. We are sorry. We suggest, the next time you take a trip and stay overnight in a hotel, more peace of mind as a couple. A hotel, a hotelier, an accommodation facility, is not to blame for your quarrels and personal discomfort. Regards
