    Perfect location and outstanding hospitality

    rating04 Dec 2025

The hotel is in a great location, close to Termini train station and within walking distance of most major attractions. The staff is very helpful and polite. Mario, in particular, welcomed us warmly and provided detailed guidance on how to reach all the city’s points of interest. Our room was spacious and very clean. We would definitely choose this hotel again on our next visit to Rome.

    Very good stay

Comfortable hotel in first floor of a building. Professional, attentive and polite staff. Room is cozy but it has everything necessary. Bathroom cozy but clean. Very central and in safe location near administrative buildings which are patrolled regularly by police.Although the hotel doesn't offer breakfast, there is a great bar right outside the entrance which offers fantastic breakfasts.Room prices are reasonable given the going rate in Rome The Staff Hotel Dorica, Servizi per gli ospiti/front office at Hotel Dorica, responded to this review Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, appreciated our central and safe location, and found our staff professional and attentive. We are glad the room and bathroom met your expectations and that you discovered the excellent bar nearby for breakfast. Your comments motivate us to continue providing a welcoming and comfortable environment. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back to Rome soon!

    Part of your Roman Experience

    rating04 Oct 2025

Revisited Hotel Dorica after a decade or so.The evergreen Piedro has Rebecca, Mario and Paolo helping him in the reception.Rebecca is an encyclopedia for information on local transportation, estimates on walking times, and suggestions on what to visit (if you aren't just doing the starred sights) tailored to your interests.Mario and Paolo are very communicative and will help you find a room that suits your preferences, airport transfers, etc. The Dorica does have multiple room options, on more than one floor. The rooms are very clean. The sheets are the whitest I've ever seen! The beds in the newer rooms are super-comfortable. Extra pillows are available. The showers have telephone shower-heads. They give you plenty of towels. There's a hair-dryer with cool/hot air options. The hotel's location of course has always been a major plus-point. Many places in the city's Centro Storico are walkable. Via Nazionale nearby has shops, ATMs, buses... If looking to buy a pass, find a tobacco/tabacchi shop by its 'T' sign. There's more than one market nearby.Via Viminale is also bustling. Termini, the main station, is a few minutes' walk away.Dorica doesn't do in-hotel breakfast anymore. But the Gran Caffe Nazionale next door is a fantastic coffee and breakfast option. There's something so Roman about Hotel Dorica that it elevates a stay in Rome! The Staff Hotel Dorica, Servizi per gli ospiti/front office at Hotel Dorica, responded to this review Thank you very much for sharing such a thoughtful and detailed review of your experience at Hotel Dorica. We are truly honored that you chose to return after so many years and that our team—Piero, Rebecca, Mario, and Paolo—helped make your stay memorable. Your kind words about our staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, and our central location mean a lot to us. We are delighted that you enjoyed the nearby Gran Caffè Nazionale for breakfast and that you found our facilities comfortable and welcoming. Your appreciation motivates us to continue offering an authentic Roman experience. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

This hotel is an experience in and of itself

    rating05 Jun 2024

Super weird, dated hotel. Hotel Dorica is only on some levels of the building. It is accesible via a creepy, old-timey elevator. Press the 0, open the swinging door, enter the elevator, and go to the first floor. Sometimes it acts a little screwy so, if you don't have tons of luggage, just use the stairs. (Side note: the elevator buttons do not light up when pressed. If it never comes, someone didn't pull the swinging door shut on another level so go close it.)Enter the hotel through the sliding glass doors on the right. You will likely be greeted by the friendly, loquacious Marco. Unprompted, he walked us through the metro access to various attractions on a map from the local Hard Rock Cafe. He also warned us about the roving packs of teen girl pickpockets. He gave each member of our party a tour of our individual rooms. We asked him how to turn on the AC and he turned it off. Luckily another employee showed as how to turn it back on. Despite this, we have no hard feelings toward Marco. That guy's awesome.Hopefully, you are staying on the first floor in one of the updated rooms. Updated is relative in this case. These rooms had a less confusing thermostat, actual blankets on the bed, and a more spacious shower. By spacious, I mean you can turn around in it.My husband and I were in a room on what Marco called the third floor but was actually the fourth floor. Classic Marco. He had our party pack into the elevator and sent us up. Then he came up after us with the keys, singing a merry tune. There is a security door on the left. Swipe through and all the rooms are in that hall. The bed, like all European beds, was very firm. The top blanket was literally a tablecloth. (Pro-tip: That cabinet above the wardrobe? There's a spare blanket in there.)The bathroom was a potential death trap. Flooring was this very glossy, easy to slip on tile. The stall shower was so small. I'm a bit claustrophobic so I just left the stall doors open. The bathroom fan was SO loud and it came automatically with the lights. Rough for those midnight bathroom runs.Positives included the AC (once we figured out how to turn it on), the mini-fridge, the room safe, and the view. And Marco. Obviously. He's a national treasure. And the other staff who were also very friendly. Unfortunately the window shutters were not held open so the wind was constantly slamming them shut. So hard to take advantage of the view. The location was very convenient for the price. Hotel Dorica is within a 15 minute walk of most of the big attractions in Rome. Tons of restaurants nearby. Parkng for cabs or rideshares right across the street. A pharmacy and minimart on the opposite corner. Skip the cafe right next door but do hit up the gelato place across from the minimart. If you're looking for AC tips, look no further. First off, the window must be closed and latched. If it already is, open and close it again just to be sure. Turn the dial on the top control box to 3. Make sure the bottom control box is flipped to the sun icon. Seriously, being in this hotel was like a real life point and click adventure. The Staff Hotel Dorica, Servizi per gli ospiti/front office at Hotel Dorica, responded to this review Thank you very much for sharing such a thorough and colorful description of your stay at Hotel Dorica. We are delighted that you appreciated our central location, the amenities such as the AC, mini-fridge, and safe, and above all the friendliness of our staff—especially Marco, whose enthusiasm and assistance are often highlighted by our guests. At the same time, we regret that certain aspects of the facilities, such as the elevator, bathroom flooring, and window shutters, did not fully meet your expectations. Your observations are very valuable to us, and we will carefully review them to improve comfort and safety for future stays. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and provide an even better experience.
