    ONCE STAY IS ENOUGH

    rating01 Oct 2025

Hotel Altavilla Roma Two Star HotelFirst impressions was the hotel was old ( of course) but very clean & tidy. On checking in we were offered a welcome coffee & broche. Our room ( room 126) in the first floor was neat & tidy with pristine white sheets on the beds. Good storage. The room is not really large enough for two people. Two separate beds . Tiny bathroom but adequate for our 3 night stay near Roma Termini. Then we discovered the shower drains water extreamly slowly and builds up to overflowing. Also the toilet flushes but does not flush anything in the toilet down! You need to repeatedly push the button to dislodge any waste material. Not good for a hotel. The City tax was requested in CASH with out a proper receipt. On the paper in the room it states 3 euros per person per night but he charged €5 euros per night! €30! I think that may be due to the Jubilee year in Roma. We wanted to pay with in the travel card but he said no cash! One wonders. The best thing was that the free WIFI was a secure internet connection! The rooms were attended daily. The bed is comfortable. The one pillow ok. We slept well whilst there. A fridge was supplied. The large heavy brass key is handed into staff on departing the hotel room each day and collected on your return. They have CTV at this hotel. Sadly, I think the plumbing issues make this a one star hotel ⭐.I would not stay here again.

Meglio in tenda che qui. Better in a tent then here

It can't get any worse than this. Peeling walls, filthy room, nonexistent bathroom, terrible smell, the chair in the room looks like it was picked up from a landfill, so dirty you can't tell its color. The only positive is the embarrassed staff who do their best. Avoid it unless you want an experience of urban decay.

Travelled a lot, never experienced the like of this

I was booked in this place for three nights, checked out after one. I don’t hate myself enough to subject myself to staying here. Everything about that room was terrible. Dire, dismal and don’t go there.

Avoid – Broken Bathroom, No Maintenance !

    rating30 Jun 2025

Stayed 3 nights; my first terrible hotel experience. The bathroom was a disaster: toilet wouldn’t flush, and the shower tray flooded due to a blockage. Reported it, but nothing was fixed—had to use a basement WC all stay. Staff tried but clearly lack proper maintenance support. The hotel is rundown (as expected), but hygiene and functionality should be a priority. Unacceptable for the price.

    Mediocre Stay

    rating13 Jun 2025

Not the worst hotel but not great. The beds were hard as a rock with a good bit of hair, pillows were flat and it was quite noisy. Be sure to bring a speaker with white noise playing to help you sleep! It felt more like a hostel than a hotel and for the price, it should have been better. And the front desk agent attempted to charge me more than what I had booked it for. I showed him the rate I agreed to and he was like ‘oh, ok’ and changed on his end. Then asked us to pay the room on card and the service fee in Euros. Seemed odd to me as that was not how it was on the website we booked. Needless to say, we slept but my back hurt the next day and we were ready to move to another location.
