    Simple, quiet and clean

    This hotel was very simple and homey. We stayed upstairs reached by a beautiful winding staircase but difficult to navigate luggage up and down from the room. Rooms were small but clean and same with the bath and shower stall. Morning breakfast was a medley of cold cuts and sweets with some fruit and delicious Italian coffees. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Prices for taxis to airport or train were set and reliable (important in Italy). Drinks from the bar were available in the evenings. Location was a block away from beach and hotel pool. Pool was large but no shade protection available poolside. Outdoor showers were wonderful after dipping in the ocean and a convenient deli was nearby with beer and average tasting Italian sandwiches.

    Not accommodating and not clean. Would not recommend and would not return. Management was rude, would much rather spend vacation somewhere that greets you with kindness and compassion. Monica their manager was contacted regarding issues and failed to address them appropriately

    The hotel is in a lovely garden setting a short walk to the beaches of Fregene. There are several loungers in the grounds for guests to use. We arrived to a friendly welcome and did the check in formalities before leaving our luggage and strolling to the beach clubs for lunch. We had paid a significant amount of money for on apartment in the grounds and there is no doubt it is overpriced for an overnight stay. If you are a family of 4 and stay a few nights or for a week it may be a different story but I wouldn't recommend this for one night unless you are fully prepared for the lack of facilities. A bottle of water to start you off in the fridge would be a nice touch as would some milk sachets to go with the two coffee pods provided for the Nespresso machine. Be aware, you get two small sachets of shower cream/shampoo and that's your lot. A container of shower gel located in the shower would at least be helpful. The outside seating area of the apartment needs some attention as the pebbles have moved exposing unattractive plastic sheeting. On opening the shutters in the apartment, we didn't expect to find the sofa, which I assume doubles as a sofa bed, covered in a white sheet and a towel. I didn't explore to find out what this was hiding. Another real frustration was the safe that is located on the very bottom shelf of the wardrobe. There is a warning sign about the hotel not taking responsibility for valuables but unless you are a gymnast, it is somewhat difficult to lie prostate on the floor to try to operate the safe. We didn't bother and took our chances. All in all, it served the purpose as we didn't want to stay in an airport hotel and we did enjoy the beaches of Fregene out of season. Would I recommend 'Il Mirragio', sadly no as it is not practical for an overnight if booking an apartment, it is way overpriced, has very basic facilities with next to no provisions provided. A pretty setting yes but that is where for us, it stopped!

    Terrific stay at Il Mirragio Hotel, Fregene Italy

    We rate this stay a solid 4 out of 5. Great place and strongly recommend it. If you are flying into Rome, do yourself a favor and cure that jet lag with a couple of nights at Il Miraggio. Swim the Mediterranean Sea, fabulous seafood all around the area, easy cab ride from the airport, beautiful neighborhood and quiet after 11:00 pm (a bit of noise during the day from incoming flights, but we hardly noticed). Rooms are small, but do not spend your day indoors. Gigantic beach 200 yards from the hotel, pure sand, excellent for a day of relaxation before hitting the tourist trail. Staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast was very good on site, and the beer they sell is nice and frosty. Do yourself a favor and make this a stay before or after your travels in Italia.

    We somehow were (unexpectedly) housed in a bungalow/apartment with our dog. We hardly went in the main building except for the buffet breakfast but were struck by the curious aura of calm and tranquility...
