    Moldy rooms

    rating16 Nov 2025

Room was covered in mold and the toilet roll had clearly been unwound and wound back up. The majority of the staff were lovely bar one man working in reception who appeared irritated and like you were wasting his time.

Would never return - would NOT recommend

    rating17 Oct 2025

I never leave reviews but have to after returning from a short city break in Rome today where myself and my partner stayed at this hotel. I will be fair but honest. So where to begin??? The location of the hotel is ideal for use of the trains, metro and buses - or even to walk to the major attractions if you choose to, which is exactly why my partner picked the hotel. However, due to its location the street noise was considerable, keeping windows and shutters closed helped somewhat- but if you stay i recomment you take earplugs!!! Our room - a queen room on 4th floor - had a TV, mini fridge, hairdryer and air conditioning. The room and bathroom, although very basic, dated and tired were clean and were serviced while we were there, towels were changed and beds made. However none of the TV, mini fridge or air conditioning actually worked (hairdryer was not used so cant comment, apart from the fact it was a very old one). We didnt spend a lot of time in the room so it wasnt a huge thing for us. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on this also it was never offered and we didnt know they offered breakfast until we read reviews on our way home!! There were vending machines in the reception area. The bed was two singles pushed together, very hard mattresses and only one pillow each - I suppose we could have asked for more but to be honest I didnt want to it didnt seem worth the stress it may cause so we folded them over to double up - see below for explanation!!! We encountered 4 different members of staff on the reception during our stay, 3 of whom were polite and friendly. However the male member of staff who greeted us on check in, and who was on duty the majority of our stay, was quite possibly the rudest most sullen person I have ever met. When we first arrived he barked at us to stay outside and wait while he deal with another person, which we did, luckily it was not raining!!! The only words after that he snapped at us were "passport", the room number, as well as ordering my partner to sign in and provide a phone number. We went to our room in shock and laughing at his poor attitude, we dumped our bags and headed out - as we passed through reception he again barked at us "Key!!" - at no point had he explained we would need to leave the key each time we left the hotel. He was BEYOND rude to the point we dreaded him being there but also laughed and joked about it as it was so surreal to be spoken to and treated that way as paying guests!!! Like I said the others were all pleasant but this man was obnoxious!! He has clearly never had any customer service training and definitely does not have any people skills!!! My partner tried to kill him with kindness by always saying hello and wishing a good day - always met with nothing more than a blank stare or a grunt!!! It was so bad it was hilarious and luckily we did just see the funny side of it and didnt let him impact our trip. The other thing that baffled us was that even though we were guests of the hotel we still had to pay 5euro per bag to leave them in the hotel after checkout and before our flight. They offer this service for non-guests but I feel as we actually stayed there this should have been included for us. Overall the hotel was basic and was ok for a short stay, however due to this man's poor attitude and behaviour there would be no way on earth we would stay there again even if it was free of charge and I would definitely not recommend it to anyone.

    Super shady - cash only

    rating21 Sept 2025

Super shady experience at this hotel. We booked through Expedia, hotel told us reservation was canceled due to a declined card. Expedia never notified us, and the hotel refused to try a different card, insisting on cash only via their ATM. Gave off a super sketchy vibe. We booked another hotel because they did not seem trustworthy.

A Truly Mirage-like Experience — Disappearing Service, Disappearing Accountability

    rating21 Jul 2025

I usually don’t leave reviews, but since I received such a heartfelt email requesting one, here we are. What a magical experience it was. Not necessarily in the way one might hope, but magical nonetheless. Let’s set aside the actual quality of the room for a moment (it was, let’s say, sufficiently horizontal to lie down on). The real highlight was the reception area, which bore a striking resemblance to a lost luggage depot. A true marvel of spatial chaos. After using the day-use option to briefly rest and step out, I returned to be met not with hospitality but with a stern lecture. Apparently, bringing the key with me was a grave offense—one that warranted raised eyebrows and pointed fingers. I must commend the staff's unwavering devotion to protocol over people. Truly inspiring. But the pinnacle of the experience came when the extra service I booked and paid for through the app was suddenly declared nonexistent. “That’s just the room fee,” they exclaimed—loudly. Naturally, the service was never delivered. I suppose if you enjoy paying for invisible amenities, this is the place for you.In summary, if you’ve ever dreamed of staying in a hotel where the staff don’t know what’s included in their own rates, and where the atmosphere oscillates between confusion and mild hostility, Hotel Mirage lives up to its name. It’s not really there. The only upside? It's near the station. So you can leave quickly.

    Unexpected experience !

    rating31 May 2025

First impression matters - on our arrival day at the hotel, the gentleman at the reception failed to make us feel welcome. A smile and a friendly greeting would make a huge difference!Although we booked a room with a single large bed, we were given a room with twin beds joined together to form a king-size bed.The breakfast service was poor as it was not a self-service and the lady handling it struggled to serve. We checked out in the morning of the day of our flight out of Rome. We made the required payment to place our bags at the reception until our flight time approached. However, we were denied access to our bags to put some purchased items during the day and we had to go around with our items. But, I did love the location of the hotel as it was very convenient to visit such a beautiful city. I was intrigued by Rome and Venice! I will come back in the future.
