    Cheap and cheerful

    rating07 Sept 2025

Not a place where you would bring the person in your life for a romantic getaway, but perfect for one or two nights if you're transiting through Rome.Location is the big advantage, because it's right next to all the major transport hubs including the bus / train to the airport.Rooms are small but clean and comfortable and the bathroom/ shower is fine. A decent breakfast is also included

Absolutely Disgusting! Stay Away from Hotel Tex

    rating01 Jul 2025

We booked Hotel Tex out of desperation after our original accommodations fell through, and it turned out to be a decision we deeply regretted. This hotel should honestly be shut down.First of all, the air conditioning didn’t work (in 40°C heat). When we asked the concierge, we were met with a smug and completely false response: “All of Rome doesn’t have air conditioning.” As someone who’s visited Rome many times, I can assure you this is total nonsense. The hotel simply doesn’t care about your comfort. The entire building reeks of cigarettes and mold, and the condition of the towels was absolutely revolting- stained (yes, with ash stains) and reeking of smoke to the point of being completely unusable. The bathroom looked like a horror film set, it has grimy, mould-covered grout, rust-stained fixtures, and an overwhelming stench of mildew.Guests are not allowed to use the stairs and are forced to use an ancient, claustrophobic elevator that seems one jolt away from collapse. When the power inevitably went out, my father was stuck in the lobby, unable to join us upstairs because they would not allow him to take the stairs. It was not only outrageous, it was unsafe. We were overcharged 20 euros per night for a crib for our 4-month-old baby- something most decent hotels offer for free or at a reasonable rate. Even worse, they refused to provide a receipt for the charge. The hotel also forces you to pay the city tax and crib fees upfront at check-in, which is highly unusual across Europe. The whole thing felt shady and exploitative.Security is another issue: guests are required to leave their room key at the front desk whenever they go out. This made us incredibly uneasy. The refrigerator didn’t work, so after walking for hours in blistering heat, we came back to a sweltering room and hot bottled water (which we bought ourselves as the hotel provides absolutely nothing). The room safe also didn’t work, not that we’d trust it if it did.And the staff? Rude, unhelpful, and clearly indifferent. Every interaction felt like an inconvenience to them.Breakfast was as grim as everything else: processed cheese slices still in their plastic wrappers and food clearly re-used from other guests’ plates. Yes, they actually put food back out after it had already been touched!!! Unsanitary doesn’t even begin to describe it.If you're looking for a hotel that will make you never want to return to Rome, Hotel Tex is it. Avoid at all costs. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

I m so sorry but it s poor

    rating18 Feb 2025

When we arrived there we stayed at reception for 2 hours and went up, but we are not allowed to use stairs only elevator and some families went up and the last one did not succeed because the elevator broke down and they broke the door because the helpers were not there after 20-30 mins and the receptionist said that they would have to pay (they did not) and after a whole day they repaired the elevator and closed the stairs again. I do not think it is normal for a hotel to rely only on an elevator. The rooms are not luxury nor the breakfast but for a city break it is acceptable
