    Disappointing

    rating18 Mar 2026

First of all our private transfer was approx an hour and a half late picking us up from the airport so that wasn’t a good start. The hotel although in quite a central location is very tired and dated and has many trip hazards that you really have to watch e.g rugs everywhere and a lead on the floor in the bathroom. The bedding was spotless however the toilet was dirty. Our alarm at 8am each morning was drilling and banging. The breakfast was minimal and you had to ask for a second cup of coffee, it wasn’t readily available or offered. The only hot food was toast. Although the staff were pleasant they were not accommodating in helping us book a taxi. Rome is magnificent however this hotel was disappointing and certainly not four star. Luciano Chesini, Proprietario at Hotel Locanda Cairoli, responded to this review We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay but we are even more sorry that you are did not inform us about your problems during your stay. If your toilet was dirty is absolutely not acceptable but I cannot understand why you did not inform us so we would have take action. But it is really disappointing that we have to take the blame for a private transfer that you booked and it was not our service or because we offer you fresh coffee instead of a typical 15 days aged coffee in a thermos. Moreover for not booking you a taxi when we have explained you how it works in Rome more than once...This is really disappointing even for us

A real find, in the best area of Rome.

    rating15 Jan 2026

We stayed at Locanda Cairoli, for 4 nights, right before Christmas. The Hotel is so easy to find, on a piazzeta, you can see, on the first floor, the "HOTEL", writen on the windows of the first Floor. Very peaceful, I never heard voices, or noises, and never the noise of the Tram No 8. So, as I had seen in on other reviews, that other people had a terrible experience from the noise, I thought, that the tram was not running any more. I must say, we had a Standard Room, on the first floor, exactly opposite, to the fountain, on the piazza. I want to say, that given the fact, that the Hotel, is a small one, covering, two floors, the 1st and 2nd, of a public building, adds a feeling of bigger safety, as you have to ring the bell, to enter, and someone of the stuff on the Lobby, must open the entrance door, of the Hotel, on the 1st floor. Our room exceeded our expectation, it was very spacious, tastefully decorated, luminus, with a table, a big armchair, two chairs, I found the bed comfortable enough and big. The bathroom, had a bathtub, very charming, not very big, but everything was OK. Towels, three per person, of good quality, changed if you drop them down.Nothing missing. Breakfast, great to me, really great coffee, you have everything you need, cheese, ham, cakes, croissant very fresh, fruits, milk, cereals, boiled eggs, everything. I never could taste everything. Of cource, you cannot have an english breakfast, with fried eggs, bacon, fish, or something fancy you can find in a five star Hotel. The Lobby seemed, very sophisticated, warm, like the living room of a beautiful house. To tell the truth, we never used it, as we, always, were so tired, that we were going directly to our beautiful room. The personnel, always keen to help you, very polite, always with a smile.I cannot, not mention Tryphon, who went out of his way to satisfy any of our wishes.Bottom line, the best Hotel, I ever stayed in Rome, and this was my 7nth time in Rome, in this area, almost no need of public transport, in this price, the tram no 8 just outside, who drives you to Trastevere Train Station, in 15 minutes, and then the train to FCO, 27 min.. Total 45 min. from Hotel to the Airport, with only 9,50 euros p.p.No need to say, we will be back. We had a great stay. Luciano Chesini, Proprietario at Hotel Locanda Cairoli, responded to this review Thank you so much, we do hope to see you again soon

Great team good locale and great food

    rating07 Aug 2025

First pulled up was a bit put off the entrance is hard to find and when you gain entrance its a bit of a "what the hell is this " moment untill you understand what a boutique hotel is and what great reception team it has . Great location , good size rooms , always cleaned if possible to access your room . The italian tourist tax is an eye opener , this is classed as a 4 star and the more stars the more tax you paid so 8 nights x 7.50€ x 2 is 120€. Thats the government not the hotels fault though . Keep and open mind it does grow on you . Easy walking distance to world attractions . Luciano Chesini, Proprietario at Hotel Locanda Cairoli, responded to this review Thank you very much for your kind words. Unfortunately the entrance of the building is not our property but we are more than glad you understood the difference. We do hope to see you again in Rome soon.
