Centrally located, great receptionists and overall great experience at hotel

    rating14 May 2026

We stayed a total of 8 nights at the Hotel Montecarlo in Rome, Italy. We were warmly greeted at Reception, and all the receptionists during our stay were knowledgeable and helpful. Full breakfast included a full range of hot and cold items (scrambled eggs could have been a little warmer, but we have known only one hotel that was able to provide hot scrambled eggs during our many years of travel). We used their Bistro the first night we arrived for a wonderful pizza and wine. It's an old hotel, but well maintained (absolutely love the elevator, which was always working!). Very clean bathroom with a sauna feature which we weren't able to figure out but didn't miss anyway. Only slight negative was the clearing space between the sink and the bathroom door - we're not large people, but you basically have to open the door, get in and then you have to close the door in order to access the sink. Not insurmountable, just required maneuvering! The bedroom was a good size for the two of us - particularly liked the wood flooring instead of less hygienic carpeting found in other hotels.Within walking distance of many restaurants and Metro and Termini Train Station.Overall, an excellent stay - we would stay here again.

    Fantastic experience

    rating05 Apr 2026

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Montecarlo for a long weekend in Rome, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The hotel strikes a lovely balance between comfort and charm. The rooftop terrace is a real highlight — breakfast there in the morning is relaxed and pleasant, and in the evening it transforms into a cosy restaurant with very good food. The staff were consistently polite and professional, making us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay.A special mention goes to Hugo, the barman, who was not only friendly but also impressively multilingual. We were particularly surprised when he spoke fluent Portuguese with my wife — a rare and thoughtful touch that made our stay even more memorable.Overall, a very positive experience, and we would certainly consider staying here again on our next visit to Rome.

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY, DON’T BOOK THIS HOTEL

    rating24 Oct 2025

I stayed at this hotel during my trip to Rome, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a hotel. The room was not as described, and the service was completely unhelpful.i requested a bassinet as it is in their website they advertised that crib is available upon request, they told me they don’t have one, after insisting on having one for my baby they provided me a broken bassinet!!The staff showed little concern when I mentioned issues of crib that was unsafe for my baby, unclean and no mattress .they still charged me 25 euro per night for that Bassinet that I couldn’t use, they told me they will take care of it the next morning where they never did .Instead of resolving the problem, they charged me extra and offered no apology or solution. For the price I paid, I expected much better hospitality and safety standards. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome — there are many other places that actually care about their guests.

Welcoming clean hotel meters away from Termini station.

In a last minute decision to leave to Rome myself and family needed a base for a long weekend. Hotel MonteCarlo was available and had our requirements for breakfast and close to the center of Rome city center. Its located 5 mins walk from metro station Castro Pretorio on line B so very easy to get to all the major landmarks and is three stops from Collosseum (Collosseo). Mica from reception gave us a warm hearty welcome and spent time giving us good advice and tips on what to do and getting around. We were given a triple room (204) and a twin room (203). The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and well maintained. All of us were happy with our rooms and over all pleased that we had ended up here. There is also a lovely glass lift to get you to your floor if you are too tired to take the steps.Breakfast is a good selection . Hot drinks juices and water, fruits, breads, toast yoghurt, beans and egg and delicious cake slices.. The food was warm and the staff are fantastic at replenishing items. As well as Mica in reception I found Louise very helpful and Franco was engaging aswell. When I needed laundry doing Louise took time to tell me about the local laundrette and ensured I knew how to get there. Very lovely service I found. Aswell as the launderette being just a few metres away there is a small food centre called Cador. It had everything I needed at a reasonable price to ensure we had snacks and essentials.Though the hotel is not in the midst of the action I found that I enjoyed retreating in to a calm area that mainly has embassies around there. I found bus travel worked best depending on the site i wanted to visit that day. The bus stop is on the opposite side of the street and a few steps towards the right. The streets around the hotel are quiet and even if there was noise outside then the windows are fully soundproofed. There are some restaurants open till late with outdoor seating which was perfect. Hotel MonteCarlo also has a bistro set menu at €20 however I didnt manage to try this. Thanks to the hard working staff at the hotel and we would recommend this hotel to family and friends visiting Rome. Bellissima
