Toilet with no water and reception with no staff. DO NOT STAY HERE!

    rating17 Nov 2025

The water to the toilet doesn’t flow, it’s basically permanently clogged, after a flush there are just drops of water falling which then takes literally more than 2 hours to get filled again. Which of course means it cannot be used. This is unsanitary. There is a reception but there’s never people there. They say opening hours but they always have an excuse, the cleaning lady told me the reception people don’t go on Thursdays. Then when I sent a WhatsApp at 6:30 pm the automated response said they are closed because they only open from 8:30am to 8pm. I kept requesting help and writing to them and got no response. This is the biggest hotel mistake I’ve even made, false advertisement from partners that give it high ratings. I ended up leaving early and going to an Airbnb. This place is so bad that is close to a scam. DO NOT STAY HERE

    Unforgettable Experience in Rome!

    rating01 Jun 2022

We can’t say enough good things about our stay at this hotel! The gals at the front desk, Roberta and Sonia, are outstanding! They absolutely go above and beyond in every aspect to make your stay a pleasant one. Let’s start with the location, perfect! You couldn’t ask for a better situated hotel, close to fantastic restaurants the Spanish steps the Trilly fountain and even the hop on and hop off bus! Everything is within walking distance. Even the Colosseum and the Vatican are within walking distance however in opposite directions. The restaurants around here may be touristy, but they are delicious! The condition of the rooms is great. They are clean they’re comfortable and they have plenty of room. The bathrooms are small by American standards but they are adequate and the water pressure is good. Towels and linens are nice! What really makes this hotel a stand out from the rest is the front desk. Sonya and Roberta are fantastic and they deserve a raise! We’ve been traveling through Europe for over four weeks and the service we received from Sonia and Roberta is unforgettable and outstanding!

Very nice place, excellent service and location!A unique hotel with art on every wall makes you appreciate Rome even more. The location is on the piazza di Spagna, which you can enjoy while having your breakfast.

Great location in this fascinating, iconic “shabby chic” city, but rooms more shabby than chic.

    rating05 Mar 2020

Brilliant location for Central Rome and in particular the Spanish Steps area. Receptionist friendly and accommodating when we complained about our room on the first night of a 3 night stay : we were moved to another room for the remainder of our stay which was ok, but still on the slightly below average side. Overall my honest assessment would be just below average for the money. Cleanliness just about ok but poor attention to detail eg : significant amounts of black mould on a bathroom ceiling ; black mould on a shower cord ; a cracked sink ; stain on bedding ; cheap bedding ; the heating didn’t come on in our second room at all, at a time of year when an hour in the morning and an hour or two at night would have been desired ; peeling paint ; tired furniture and decor ; cheap shower infrastructure which seemed relatively recently installed but already starting to fall apart ; water bottles inconsistently re-stocked...... just a bit shabby and disappointing overall. We still had a great time with family who were also staying in the hotel, as we are not the sort of people to let minor details ruin a holiday. Most of our time was spent out and about, walking, on a brilliant food tour and watching Scotland actually win a game of rugby 😉. But in this case there were lots of minor details needing addressing and impression was of one of those city centre places well placed for sight seeing, designer shopping and good restaurants, but needing some TLC and a few quid spent on it. Great location

We stayed here during the rugby weekend with Scotland visiting the city. So I won't complain about the loud noises from the nearby restaurants, but... don't get given the room at the end of corridor as it overlooks a very noisy restaurant. Although the window is double glazed and with shutters, you could hear everything crystal clear. The hotel needs to check this out, our friends stayed in another room on the opposite side and didn't hear anything, then was moved to the room above us and heard what we heard. The room was clean and tidy. But you need to restock the tea bags. We used the only 2 tea bags on Thursday afternoon and they were not replaced, we left Sunday morning. The coffee was restocked, the water wasn't. Only 2 bottles for 4 occupants. Also, 4 cups would have been good, instead of the 2 cups and 2 small glasses.I would recomend this hotel, it is central to what most tourists want to see, a carfore Relais Bocca di Leone, Proprietario at Relais Bocca di Leone, responded to this review Dear Mr Chaff,we are glad that you liked our central position, at just 2 minutes from Spanish Steps and many other sites in the historical centre of Rome.
