    THEIFS

    rating20 Oct 2025

THEIFS!!! After being robbed in the centre of rome.. we came back to our room to rest. In the morning we was so busy getting ready for the british embassy, i forgot to pick my Rolex watch up off the bed. Despite numerous emails back and forth, this watch hasnt been handed in by housekeeping (who say thy didn't find anything) course they didnt!!! Not helpful and extremely dishonest. Will not be every coming back to Rome and i will continue to let tourist know to steer clear from this hotel

    Brilliant and beautiful

    rating24 Sept 2025

This is the most beautiful hotel I have ever experienced. The photos do not show how truly beautiful this hotel is. We think all the staff (everywhere from the management to the pizzeria) are excellent and have made our holiday here that little bit more special and nice. I would highly recommend this hotel and would happily visit again.Thank you if you’re from the Castrum Boccea and are reading this.

A Concept with Potential, but Far from Refined Hospitality

    rating04 May 2025

We recently stayed at this hotel in Italy, drawn in by its romantic concept—a historical Roman villa or castle ambiance. At first glance, the property presents itself as visually curated and charming. However, the experience quickly reveals a significant gap between intention and execution. The architecture and decor are, unfortunately, largely artificial—constructed with concrete and plastic imitations rather than authentic materials. While the atmosphere attempts to evoke timeless elegance, the effect feels more theatrical than tasteful. The interior of the room further reinforced this disconnect. The furniture was visually inconsistent and lacked cohesion: a modern glass table clashed with white wooden pieces, all set against stone feature walls. The result was a disjointed and disharmonious visual aesthetic, which detracted from the intended atmosphere of luxury.Usability was also an issue. It took us 15 minutes to locate the place to insert the room card for electricity—no signage, no guidance. A small arrow could have saved unnecessary frustration. Though the room appeared newly renovated, functional design was clearly not a priority. We had specifically booked a room with a jacuzzi, expecting a relaxing experience. While candles were placed around the tub to create ambiance, there were no matches or lighters provided. Nor was there any bath foam or appropriate toiletries. We had to pump liquid soap from a fixed wall dispenser in the bathroom into a glass to use in the bath. Both the jacuzzi and shower had so much calcium build-up that the water sprayed out like needles. We had to disassemble the showerhead ourselves to make it bearable.Cleanliness was another concern. The mosquito net had clearly not been cleaned in a long time—it was thick with dust and cobwebs. Simply lowering it left our hands dirty. Our room was located directly above the restaurant kitchen, and by 4 PM the smell of deep-fried food permeated the room—heavy, greasy, and overpowering. The scent of battered zucchini flowers and fried dishes lingered for hours, which made it difficult to relax.Connectivity and service were also substandard. There was no cellphone reception in the room, and the room phone offered no guidance on how to contact reception. We spent 15 minutes trying to get the Wi-Fi code. When the manager eventually brought it, the code was incorrect. Another round of waiting followed before we received a working code. The smart TV was not connected to Wi-Fi either, and once it was, we noticed it had been poorly mounted above the jacuzzi and was already coming loose—raising serious safety concerns. The restaurant experience continued the pattern of visual promise, but underwhelming substance. The pasta was acceptable—hot and well-prepared—but the fried food was overwhelmingly greasy. The menu was uninspired, and the pricing felt disproportionate to what was offered. In short, this property might work as a backdrop for weddings or events where surface appearance is the priority. But as a hotel experience—particularly one marketed at a high-end price point—it falls short in nearly every detail. If we had paid €50 for the night, it might have been forgivable. At €220, it was not. Until this hotel bridges the gap between concept and execution, it will continue to disappoint guests who expect both substance and style. The staff was genuinely friendly. This review is shared with the hope that it helps the hotel improve just that extra notch to match its ambition.
